Ok i keep getting nagged to update my g2 I am permrooted using the no adb gfree method. So i have s-off supercid and all that. I want to manually flash a pre-rooted GB rom but I'm hoping for a stock rom with minimal changes. The one exception is I want to be able to overclock, I've been looking everywhere but there are too many options without the specific changes and builds outlined. Just a little confused and looking for advice on a rom that will fit what I'm looking for. I'm happy with the stock feel just want to overclock basically. Any ideas?
BOO! no one has any recommendations?
Xboarder56's stock 2.3 + enhancements can be overclocked and is pretty much just stock AOSP.
cyanogenmod7
Sorry I'm new to some of this lol, but its that off the new ota build? Also does it make a difference? I have a stock rooted rom dvds it works great but I want the option of over clocking just because I can't help myself plus its awesome. I have pretty much every thing I own overclocked lol. free power is epic

CM7 and xboarder56's are both based on AOSP 2.3.5, the latest android release. There's no need for them to be based off of the OTA build because they've been compiled from AOSP source (and been around before the OTA was even a thought). For this reason we've had things like CM7 2.3 ROMs since January on the G2. Nearly every ROM in the dev section will have custom kernels that allow overclocking, though (except the bone stock pre-rooted OTA Builds, they're pretty much stuck atm).

Find the radio thread in the dev section. I recommend flashing the radio intended for the T-mobile 2.3 OTA.
is that radio Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 ? Also, I flashed the bone stock pre rooted. My thing was I wanted to keep the stock look for now. Just to keep it simple, plus I like it. I will probably flash virtuous when they come out with a new update.

Yes thats the T-Mo US OTA radio.
ROMs like CM7 and other AOSP ones are very close to stock. The G2 ships (and OTAs) with an almost stock ROM, so anything built from AOSP will be very similar.
Something like CM7 will be much quicker and efficient with tons of extra improvements, but look very similar.
So I've had my Nexus 7 for awhile now and wanted to getting everyones opinion on how they run their Nexus. What rom do you run if you run one or why do you choose to run it stock? I am currently running a simple TabletUI.zip. Give me you thoughts and opinions.
In still running it in stock because it's good enough for me atm x). I don't need tablet ui or something else. Opened bootloader and rooted.

I am very much into custom roms for my Sprint G'Nex but for the Nexus 7 I run stock. I do have it unlocked and rooted just in case but as of right now, for what I use it for, stock JB is great.
i started with rooting and tried the franco kernel.
Someday i just tried a custom rom. Not for any reason, just trying and playing around a little bit.
Thats mainly it.
I do it, because i can
Stock is good, but Paranoid Android is REALLY good, and the tweaks it has are probably much better than the TabletUI.zip. I just saw a ROM called "Cookies and Cream" that is based off of Paranoid Android and Codename Android, so that one's probably worth checking out too.
I just bought my Nexus 4 with 4.2.2 installed.
The question is nexus 4 has stock AOSP android software. Why are their Roms like AOKP or CM10.1 which is the same anyway?
Also nexus devices are always the first to get the updates so why custom rom?

Because custom roms can and do offer new features, better battery life/better performance, more customizability and all of that allows us to make our smartphones feel a bit more personal.
The reason I use android phones is because I enjoy the freedom of being able to tinker with every part of it rather than be locked into the same corporate borefest offered by Fruit-based phone companies.
That's my opinion anyway.

Because that's what XDA is all about. Besides custom ROMs add features that pure AOSP doesn't have. Basically it comes down to personal choice.
Hi, I'm a long time nexus user, decided to go for the G2...
Looking for a costum rom as close as I can get to Vanilla android, but without loosing the knock knock gesture...
Any recomendations?

Hello, the ROM I recommend you use is CyanogenMod 11, I'm using this ROM right now on my LG G2, and I love the performance and numerous customizations you can do with it.[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4], what's your variant of the LG G2?

No problem [emoji4], the knock on gesture will still exist on the LG G2 running CyanogenMod 11, you'll just have to knock on the status bar to lock your phone, and you can knock on your screen to turn your phone back on again, make sure you backup your Stock LG ROM using TWRP before you continue to install the ROM, and download the latest Gapps(Google Apps) for the Rom.[emoji4][emoji4]
Good Luck[emoji106][emoji106]

Hello everyone, I'm thinking of compiling some cool KitKat ROMs for titan (Mokee, Carbon, AICP, PAC, AOKP, etc). But I have a doubt. Would anyone even go for kitkat? Like we have mm ROMs, lp ROMs, would you flash KitKat? I personally would love to, as not all mm/lp ROMs deliver the best performance our device is capable of. And plus, KitKat can have more features than ANY lp/mm rom. So just a shout out to know how many people would love to have KitKat revived. If the number is desirable, I'll build some cool KitKat ROMs for titan

I tought once to port some KK ROMs for Titan, but I never had enough time to do it. So, if you're into KK, do it! I will (as well as many others that also likes KK) certainly try.

Cool then. Hopefully you'll see a new kk rom today

Go for it!
TÄ«tan
I never used any KK ROM, so what would be the advantages over marshmallow?
I really like kitkat roms but since my phone (XT1064) came with Android L, it has a different front camera which I think isn't supported in kitkat. I flashed CM11 and front camera wasn't working. So people with this same phone variant probably won't use kitkat roms for this reason. This might be something to take in count.

You rock man! I'd like to see, if it's possibile, an update of KK PA, because i loved that rom, but also every new kitkat rom would be awesome!
i prefer kitkat more than lolipop. its too stable more than lolipop .Yes lolipop has some new features but in stability and perfermance no one will take kitkat's place . i will wait for you new kitkat rom
Add me here too. Like to try a new kit-kat rom.
For me, if you can build something with AOSP base ill use it for sure, since i dont like CM base roms at all, but now im not sure how many AOSP based roms are for KK. But, as everyone is saying, you can go, i think some people will be happy testing them

The problem is that no one maintained AOSP KK for our device. LuK did Cm 11 but had to abandon it cause well he was doing cm 12.1 and AOSP 5.1.1.
Plus there is no layers support( I think) since layers was introduced in LP.
@Vidhanth Go for it. I would like to use KK again.

Yes ofc a kitkat ROM would be welcome, maybe slimkat based? but don't expect too many users(You can expect me, lol!) Also if you don't mind me asking, how about an updated 5.1.1 ROM? I don't like 6.0.1 romS much because of the touchbug. Any 5.1.1 rom would be cool
Sure!! I would definitely flash kk rom. Personally I love KitKat. I was thinking of flashing PA 4.6 B5 today.
Special request:- Could you port Nexus 5's Chroma Layers LP Rom? If possible

Yea, if you say kk roms have more features than lp and mm roms then yes.
+1 here
If you go back to a kit kat rom from an lp you need to do something with the bootloader or you just flash the rom?

Just flash the rom
If you could recreate the magic of Paranoid Android complete with Halo and Floating Windows (KK/JB), I'd be the first to download!
I would try it for sure. If it works fluently I'll maybe stay with it. MM ROMs still have some bugs.

Yes... Ready to use kk.. But what about the front cam issue.... Will it work...??
Yes!:victory: I'm in!:highfive: If you make a rom, I'll flash it. You are the one who knows better, so you choose what's best for our G2 (CM, AOSP) Whatever you choose will be fine
