Help... I had root access using chainfire, then phone upgraded build using kies. Root access lost so used same method as previous to get root access. Supersu is showing on system application all, but not in app drawer which means it is not able to grant access you those apps needing root access. Need noobs walk through of how to resolve please.

Did you try to Uninstall/Install the Supersu in Playstore sir? Can you please do that first and Then try to go on Phone setting > More> App > Supersu >Clear cache > Disable > then enable again. If you wanna install the su binary you need to flash Either philz Recovery or any custom recovery you want in odin. then boot into recovery. (Hold and press Power+Volumeup

When trying to install supersu from Plaistow it says cannot install to the default location

[Q] Does SuperSU provide Root?

In this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741395
It is stated that SuperSU provides root when flashed:
==========
" Flash Su
1. Go back by pressing power button2. Install the zip in the sdcard
Reboot and your device is now rooted!! "
===========
but the app clearly states that it needs root to work?
I don't understand... how can it provide root by flashing when the apps author claims that it needs root...?
Can anyone explain?
Thanks...

As far as I know there are the root files in the .zip and SuperSU. If you flash it, it will root your device and install the app
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2
What the other guy said is true.
If you follow the steps in that guide it will root your device and put the app (SuperSu) which will help monitor your device's root privileges. The app on it's own installing from the app store will NOT root your device is what the developers were referring to (I assume the Google Play store description is what you're talking about.)
Good luck! :good:

The rooting kit pushes 2 files regarding the supersu into the system one for supersu and one for busy box (these are not the apk's) then installs the program but if you flash it its diffrent because you push it manually

Root Problem, Please help [Odin Stuck on RESET]

I recently updated my note to 4.4 officialy. Now i wanted to root my device [Galaxy Note2 N7100]. I used the method which roots the device by first installing TWRP recovery And then installing Super Su from that. But when i install from odin, after that recovery finishes from odin the place where PASS should come, its just comes as RESET. I tried doing this from other site also, still the same problem. Nothing happened to my phone, but still i need help as i want to root.
Also when i connect my phone the small box turns blue, so i guess my drivers are also installed correctly, please help me with an easy method as I am a noob with rooting. THANKS in advance

Why TWRP?
Try Philz CWM Advanced Edition from here...
When odin says PASS ,immediately press & hold VOL_UP + HOME + POWER buttons until device boots into recovery.
OR
Untick AUTO REBOOT option in odin before flashing recovery. After PASS try above mentioned method.
After boot into recovery select INSTALL and then browse to your SU.zip & flash it.
Then,
select REBOOT & then SYSTEM options respectively.
it asks you to overwrite stock recovery, then select YES.
Done, Now you r Rooted & installed.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU!

I just now tried the CF auto root method, Still it was stuck RESET.
The CF auto root installed the Super Su though, but now when I am tryin to open Super Su, it shows UNFORTUNATELY SUPERSU HAS STOPPED
Checked on root checker app, Its showing your device is not rooted

[Q] Binaries aren't up to date - re root necessary

(I didn't find a similar thread here, sorry if this has no place here)
Hi, i recently rooted my Nexus 4 on 4.4.3 and i am experiencing some issues :
After installing the driver, and successfully unlocked the bootloader via Fastboot, i then installed ClockworkMod 6.0.2.3,
and then installed SuperSU 0.99 and tried to upgrade the binaries with SuperSU 1.99
When launching SuperSU, it tells me that my binaries aren't up to date and that i have to re-root my Nexus manually.
What should i try next ? Thanks in advance for your help.
Setup :
Nexus 4 16GB Black
Android 4.4.3
Google supersu zip and download a newer version to your phone and flash that in your recovery. You're using a very old version
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
(outdated Link removed) download SuperSU here and flash the zip via CWM
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 here you can get the newest SuperSu. (Posted after problem was solved but to help anyone who will come across this post in about 534 years)

Hi, thank you for your answer.
I downloaded and flashed the SuperSU in the link you mentioned above, but that didn't make any difference. I heard SuperSU was supposed to take over on boot and ask for something, but my phone boots up just like it usually does, and when i try to open SuperSU, it tells me "there is no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it. this is a problem". Anybody knows what's next ? I'm completely lost ahah. Thanks again everyone for your help.

How do you uninstall it ? The option doesn't show up when doing a long press on the icon, and it doesn't offer to update either (although there is an update available on the play store)

Download the factory image, Google nexus 4 factory image. Download the same version you're currently on, 4.4.2 or 4.4.3?
Extract the download using 7-zip or winrar. Inside is another zip file, extract it too. In there you'll find the system.img.
In fastboot run
fastboot flash system system.img
It won't delete anything on your phone

If your tablet is using faatboot mode then you are complled to have root access to flash recovery.
But if your tablet uses download mode/odin mode. You can just use odin software on pc and flash recovery without root access.
On basis of which mode your tablet have, tell me the mode and i will give you a detailwd diacription of how to flaah recovery.
We need recovery to do alot of things.
Like flash zips and rom locally.
Mount and format any partition.
Flaah roms without signature verification.
And many more.

So that will allow the device to accept the recovery image? How do I install CWM Recovery, through Odin or some other tool?
Damn, there is no way to install CWM to the recovery rom through the stock recovery partition? I found the CWM page for the device, but it has to be done through the booted OS. What would happen if I tried to use Odin to install it?
Your device is bricked, get it replaced. No way to recover, and if you think you can use Odin on a zmax.... You're better off with an iPhone.
