Every time I try to enable the soft keys, whether it's through an app through the Play Store, manually editing my build.prop, or enabling it through the ROM I use (Bean's ROM), when I reboot, my System UI just continually crashes and I either have to factory reset, or restore a backup.
Does the Note 3 even have the capability to use Soft Keys?

What ROM are you on? There's scripts to enable the navbar within Hyperdrive and Jellybeans. On stock and Eclipse that I use that don't have this script, I use an Xposed MOD called GravityBox to enable it. Really straightforward if you know Xposed, give it a go and let us know

I haven't tried since previous releases but I don't see why it wouldn't, you just need to be rooted. Give it a go, worst that can happen is it won't work....and in really bad situation if stock ROM doesn't boot, just flash xposed disabler from root of your internal SD card from within safestrap/TWRP recovery

I suspect the navbar has to be coded for somewhere in the ROM because using the exact same methods to enable it works on some ROMsbut crashes others.

Will anything happen?? I've deleted some apps aswell..
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
You mean other than wipe all settings and apps? Root will still be in effect if perm-rooted, and anything you removed from/added to your /system will still be as before.
Yeah, I am perm-rooted and just asking if doing a factory reset through Privacy in options will bring back those apps? I just have a weird feeling.. I deleted google translate, facebook, and goggles through root explorer, but they still show up even without a FC or anything.. all the rest of bloatware are gone besides those.. I can use them even though they don't show up in root explorer. I did battery pull and all besides that reset.. if there's no FC, it shouldn't matter right??
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
Got it to work now, needed to uninstall the updates first..
Now, another question.. I did not do anything to userkeystool but I keep getting FC when trying to set any of the keys, is there a way to fix_permissions without clockwork recovery? As I'm use to running it everytime a FC came up on my other phones...

Run through Rom Manager. There's no built-in fix_permissions script on stock roms from what I remember.
So just download rom manager and I can run it without installing anything else?? I don't want to flash any kind of recovery until cm 6.1 is stable and has the 3 issues cyanogen posted fix.. and if fix permissions don't work, anything else I can do??? I know its just quick keys but I atleast want all my features to work, especially since its stock but rooted and bloatware removed.. :/

Hello,
Since my last phone got stolen i have gotten a little paranoid, so is there any way to make a security app that permits remote control of the phone "unninstalable" even with a reset?
thanks in advance

Sadly, there is no such thing like that. A factory reset will wipe everything on the phone and brings it back to the box condition. It takes less than 10mins to do that if you do it manually. Use a tool can be faster.
There is always Cerberus. If you flash it, remove root and relock the bootloader, it might take 15 minutes to remove it instead of 10.
I believe if you install it manually in /system, then remove root and relock, it should be permanent. Unfortunately, an app that can do a remote wipe without root needs to be registered as a device administrator, so even if the app is hidden and completely silent... settings->security->device administrators->'uncheck'... and the app is neutered.

They can just unlock the bootloader and it'll be wiped.

Unlocking boot loader doesn't wipe system. Only data

ok, so how can i make it the hardest possible to remove it? (not interested in removing root just because of this) Just hide the app so if they try to manually unninstall everything instead of wiping it gives me a little time window to try and locate it?
So.. ermmm how do u hide an app?
Cerberus lets you hide the app from the app drawer.
Having root now, is it possible to remove/change/delete the verizon boot logo? Its bright and overall annoying. Plus, any less VZW branding on my phone the better.
Or is that something that will require a custom recovery?

Ya, this is holding me back from removing "custom" in the phone and the unlock screen on startup as well.
I don't really like messing with things that deep without a backup.

I was able to used Xposed Framework to get rid of the Custom Logo just fine. Try it, I dont think you will have any issues (Although it did take me a few tries to get it to work)

I was looking for a way to remove the VZW boot animation, thanks though.
Easy guide for getting rid of the CUSTOM logo and symbol at boot.
First, you have to install Xposed Framework, this is just an APK that you download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Once you install the APK, simply head to the Google Play store and download the Wanam Module at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.xposed&hl=en
Once Wanam is installed, go into Xposed, and put a check on the module "Wanam" then go into Wanam and then go Security Hacks - Fake System Status.
Note: It took me rebooting a few times and toggling it on and off to get it to work, but was worth it, that logo was U G L Y.

Not being able to make a backup still bothers me. But this Verizon logo and the unlock boot screen are starting to annoy me. Has anyone who has modified either of these had any issues or complications yet? That may reassure me a bit.
No issues that I've seen. Did it 6 am this morning. Haven't had a problem all day. Done a few more reboots when I tweaked more stuff. Still running great.

Guys why don't you just apply the boot animation manually? Here is how:
1. Download your boot animation and extract it if it's 7zipped up, you will have 2 files in .qmg file format
2. Use a root browser on your phone to navigate to /system/media
3. Rename bootsamsung.qmg to .bak and also bootsamsungloop.qmg to .bak(so you can revert rather than just deleting them)
4. Ensure that your custom boot animation is named bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg and copy them to /system/media
5. Reboot and it should work!
Very good
Ok, so I have been in search of a program to customize my status bar on my Rooted Note 3, but unfortunately it seems my searches keep coming back to the need to download Xposed Framework. This Xposed Framework screwed up my Note 3, when I went to use it to blur out my notification screen app. I had to un-root, and flash the original firmware, and let me say, it was a two day process to get everything back, and I tried to use my backup, with no success. So, is there a way to customize the status bar without using Xposed Framework?
Thank you,
AM
Are you sure you didn't modify anything else? Everything xposed can be undone by disabling modules or in the case of a boot loop you can flash the disable xposed zip in recovery. Once disabled it has no residual effects and you should be able to troubleshoot from there. But keep in mind some modules (gravity box) can be used with touch wiz based roms but not everything is supported

I didn't modify anything, I just rooted and left it at that. My intent was to get rid of all those programs that came permanently installed on my Note 3, and to rid of them by using Titanium Backup. I am willing try it again, this time I am prepared.
The only thing I can think of is that you removed something and it didn't cause a problem until you rebooted. You should probably only do one thing at a time. Remove bloatware and reboot and make sure it's stable and after you have that settled then start customizing

I never gave it any thought, that I may have deleted a program that played an integral part to the proper functioning of my Note 3. So, therefore I must take what I am doing one step at a time as you suggested czach5932. This was very good sound advise. I am done with my chores of getting rid of the programs I don't want, and the phone is functioning flawlessly, so now I am off to tackle Xposed Framework. Thank you.

That's half the fun. Just always have a backup so when you do mess up just restore and try again.

You could give the xsecurestorage module a shot, you should be able to get shealth to work with xposed. Thr fix i know should be just disable secure storage, clear davlik cache and cache in recovery, then clear data of the s health app and reboot once more and it should work. Otherwise i dont know, there are quite a few threads on both disabling the padlock and getting xposed to play nice with shealth, just search around, supposedly triangleaway will remove the padlock i wouldnt count on it though.

I thibk you misssed the part where you clear data and cache of shealth and all that, from what ive read turning off secure storage is not enough to get it working. Sit tight and i'll edit this post with some clearer instructions.
Edit:
Start by making for sure you have the xposed framework uninstalled, dont just uninstall the xposed installer app, you need to actually go in to the app and uninstall the framework, you should be able to keep the installer app installed though.
Next with a root enabled file explorer and open your build.prop file and just double check you have ro.securestorage.support set to false.
Now go in to the app info for s health, uninstall the updates, and clear the data and repeat for healthservice, then reboot in to stock recovery or safestrap and clear the cache and davlik cache.
Boot up and install xposed then for good measure reboot into recovery again, and clear the cache and davlik cache again, boot up and s health should work.
Past that i cant really help, this is all compiled from suggestions ive read, so im not sure how well all of it works due to the fact i dont even have s health installed, but good luck, hope you get it working.

You can check a couple things, check the module list and see if theres a check next to wanam indicating its enabled, if its not then enable it and reboot. If you have an sd card then long press on wanam in the module list or in yout launcher and go to its app info and see if its on the sd card, there should be a button that says either "move to sd card" or "move to device storage" if its the latter its on your sd card and that tends to mess things up, so move it to your phone's storage and then reboot, go to the module list and disable then reenable wanam then reboot.
