[Q] Browser/Divx

I know that the tab is divx certified but, i would like to know if it is possible to play divx in the browser? On sites like stagevu, loombo and vidxden.

i am not able to play divx videos from web.... its showing the plugin symbol

That all said, my Tab is loving XviD dvd rips

I mainly want the Tab for Xvid DVD rips. Do you know if the Tab plays avi's that our encoded with an AC3 soundtrack rather than MP3. a lot of dvd rips have Ac3 rather than MP3 and I heard that the galaxy cannot support multichannel soundtracks.

It has played all files I have tried until now. avis' in a lot of formats, divx. h.264 all new series. It even does mkv files in 720p with no problems or lag at all

ac3 is supported. But the stock player has decoding problems. Try vPlayer alpha - its the best atm.

so with vplayer alpha does it play 720p mkv files with AC3 (a52 codec) soundtrack, dont want to convert everything to AAC 2 channel or MP3.
Any word on firmware upgrades to fix stock video player???

None yet... but youre right, the stock player is very good otherwise! I love the browser and media library. And of course the ar control.

so can someone confirm does it play perfectly with another video player instead of the stock one.
As I said really interested in playback of 720p mkv with AC3 (5.1 sound)
Gonna try it when they are for sale next week, take my sd card and see if it works

Yep works fine in vplayer. But remember, no files larger than 4gb on internal storage.
Also, the 1080p playback advertised for the galaxy tab refers to divx and xvid I believe, so high profile move are square in third party player laps. Lets hope they make fixes too!

MOBOplayer WMV no audio

Hello all, I'd like to use my transformer for some movies and some training video. For the most part, moboplayer is great. WMV however is coming up with static-y audio and cuts in and out. Useless for audio part. I've switched it to softwae decoding already but no luck. Anyone knows of a player that can play wmv fine with audio? If not I guess I'll have to try and convert the videos.

What audio codec is used in the WMV's? I have a dozen or so WMV movies and they play fine in Mobo. You have downloads and installed the codec pack as well?

No need for mobo or other third party player, the google stock player is working very well with wmv, even in 720p.

720p Movie files DTS audio

Hello,
Has anyone been able to play 720p movies with dts audio fine on there iconia?
I've tried several media players. DicePlayer plays the sound fine but video lags. Moboplayer & rockplayer struggle both with video & audio

Try MX video player using s/w fast mode.

Can .mkv movies with DTS sound track be played on the Tab 7.7 ?

I have tried the default video player but it cannot play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.
I can see the video part of the movie but so sound can be heard.
Is there a solution to this or do I have to convert my .mkv movies?
Edit: Actually DicePlayer and MX Player can play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.

use mx video player , it worked perfect when I played 1080p mkv /w dts video.

Dice Player does this too (and is a better player for the Tab 7.7 overall with better hardware decoding, not much in it though so pick whichever).

Just wondering what makes you think dice has better hardware decoding. I have not tried Dice yet but i have not run into a single problem with mx video player

On my Note and Galaxy Nexus some files don't play smoothly with mx player (they are very watchable, just not perfect like with Dice Player).

Glad to see you here NZ... Haven't try the video part thoroughly... Anyway, MX is still good for me as of now... Thanks for the input about Dice...

One BIG problem is that the player can't play from my ntfs formatted sdxc card.
(Dice+ Mx works)

I am having mixed results on my 7.7 - vids with DTS stored on the SD card play nicely when using MX player when the audio stream is set to SW.
However, when the same videos are accessed over the network they are choppy if they play at all. Anyone else experiencing this? I've done some network analysis and the wifi isn't being maxed out or anything.
Maybe I'll start a new thread on this.

There is another thread "wifi connections" that documents some slow streaming prob.
I had to experiment with wifi-g to wifi-n (both 2.4 & 5.0 ghz) to get a steady stream.
No fixed answer at moment as all above settings still hv some intermittent stutter.
Try wifi-g and slowly move up speed.

What version Exactly?

MX Video Player v1.6f. You'll have to google for the apk as it's an old version that supported DTS software decoding prior to it being pulled.

yeah I tried them and they aren't supported on jellybean so I got diceplayer and used the special codec file and I can playback my 15GB .mkv's with DTS with no problem even running the cpu at 300mhz on my note 2 it plays back flawlessly on my 64gb ntfs microsd card. So it's DicePlayer that does it for JellyBean.

Unable to play MP4 Video in Player

Hey all,
I never really tried playing video on the nook, but I just tried playing an MP4 and it gives me a "Sorry, this video cannot be played" error.
I've looked into it and it seems that the nook actually supports MP4 playback.
Running on Mirage 7.2.
Also the information VLC Player (on my PC) gives for the mp4 file:

I appreciate any effort to sort this one out.

I have had nothing but problems using VLC player on my rooted nook. It has to have soft-decoding enabled for lots of movie files to play on it. This is using the VLC player through the playstore.
One player on the playstore I have had better luck with is called MX player or the Moboplayer, both of those will play the native .mp4 video formats for me.

Also you might have a corrupted video file if it is not playing on your computer with the correct video codecs downloaded for it. Might want to try to re-download that one video you are having problems with. Check that file in a different video player on your computer and see if it plays. If it doesn't, then you either do not have the correct video codecs downloaded onto your computer for it or it is a corrupted file. On windows OS I have to download a KLite video codec for .mp4 files to play. VLC should play that file by default though on the computer.

Try using the program "handbrake" to encode your video files for playback on the nook to keep from having to soft decode it. Soft decoding takes up lots of processing power on the processor on your nook color. I only used my Windows VLC Player to determine the codecs information. What I'm trying to do here is to run the mp4 in the native CM7.2 player.

I will try to re-encode the file. Maybe something with the audio stream there...

OK it works with the directions what you gave
I tried to give it a go alone with Handbrake. Didn't work.
Then I followed the steps in the link you provided and it plays in the default player, including H/W decoding.
