Is your sdcard an older sandisk by any chance?
Because there are some batches that have a conflict with sg4 and go into raw file system mode and can't be read.
I have not found a reliable method that works 100% I've tried around 30 different data recovery apps for the pc and only managed to recover a small portion of data ?.

[Q] Apps2SD?

Is there anyway to move apps to SD? I know they took out the feature in ICS, but maybe via an app or something? 8GB is pretty small when you take away a gig for a rom slot...

better yet, has anyone figured out if you can flip flop the internal and external sd locations so the phone thinks your external sd card is the primary? I know this was possible on the X2 and the RAZR's.
I have the memory switch .zip file, but no way to install it on my rooted Droid RAZR M
I was curious how difficult would out be to just rename the internal storage from sd card to internal storage? If that is possible then we could just rename external to sd card then we should be able to move apps to the card easily.

Tried an app from the market and it seems working: GL to SD. need root access

nah. tried renaming them last week or so and it not only didnt work, the damn things renamed themselves upon reboot. im pretty pissedf about the memory on this phone cuz the phone itself is pretty snappy.
Dang I guess Motorola has this phone on lock down. I used my EVO 4g to copy songs over to my SD card and once I inserted it back in and tried to mount it, it kept saying blank, so I rebooted my phone and it showed up. If I wasn't as smart as I am I would have probably formatted the damn thing lmao I was wondering if they did that as a minor precaution to people trying to hack the phone with something on the SD card, but then again I'm sure if they did a reboot wouldn't have made it show up then.

So were you able to move anything other than game data to your ext sd? It let me move dropbox, but nothing else showed up on its list of transferable files.

SD card won't format

Sup guys. I don't know if this is the right place to post this. But here I go. My 32gb San Disk micro SD card was working fine on my gs3 until I got my s4 and now it seems to be write protected. I can't delete or add anything onto the card. It worked fine on the s3 though. So I Googled a little about this and came across a piece of software, which I downloaded and made use of. But the tool I used to supposedly fix the card actually made it worse. Now the phone can't read it, nor can the PC explore its files (but can detect the device), its like a non allocated partition that just needs formatting. But I have tried windows format utility, SD card formatter, HD low level formatter, and HP USB disk utility software and all of them without success. Please help me as I don't know what else to do.

use cwm recovery to format sdcard. u may need to root ur ph for dat
Yes the galaxy s4 does seam to have issues with sdcards, I myself had corrupt sdcard twice for no apparent reason. Your sdcard will now be in RAW file system and from experience very hard to recover, I've tried dozens of recovery windows apps to fix the partition without success (maybe just didn't try the right app) you can however recover SOME datas on the sdcard but there is no guarrentee how much or what you can successfully recover.
The moral of this story is to ALWAYS backup your data.

Hi, pop it in a camera, if it detects it you are lucky, format it there and you're all set. Unfortunately you will lose all the data

My camera uses SD cards I think, not micro. But I'll check

just find an adapter from somewhere, usually one is supplied with the card
I tried clockwork mod recovery with no avail. I have little faith that a camera format tool would work, so I'm not even gonna bother to find a microsd adapter. Sigh. Any other suggestions please? I'm almost giving up

new card?
Yes, that's unfortunately my last resort. I was hoping it didn't have to get to that point though, cause where I live, a 32gb micro SD card is expensive as ****. But oh well. Thank you guys for trying.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Why not just get a card reader and use a PC and partition minitools?
To get your SD card back You may even need to do a LOW LEVEL format. This is very different from a standard format.
Use Google and get a freeware version of a low level format software then repartition USB/flash drive then normal fat32 format.

I tried doing a low level format. I've tried it all, with no avail :/

SM-N900 issues with SD card and heating

Hi there, I've noticed that recently my Note3 (SM-N900) suddenly heats up. I also noticed there are issues with the SD Card don't know for sure that these issues are related but seems that could be, when the card gets disconnected until I reboot the phone.
My current SD Card is a Samsung 64GB (Class 10). Android Version: 4.3*

I've never had an issue with class 10 Sandisk 32 and 64GB cards, not in the S3, S4, Note3 or TF700t.... (except once, it got corrupted, I had to format it because I was too lazy to unmount it before ejecting every time... Learned my lesson!)
As for the heating, sounds like media server getting stuck on a corrupt file or a huge folder.
-Hook the card up to a pc, let windows explorer do a search for 0kb files. Under search settings>size, or type 'size:empty' (without the quotes) in the search bar. Delete any 0kb media files. (leave the nomedia, playlists and appfiles alone). Repeat process for the phone storage.
-Put a .nomedia file in every folder not containing music, video or pictures you need. You can copy an existing one from another folder.
-If you have a folder with over 1000 files, split them up or if it's not media, hide it with a nomedia file. (I have one folder with over 18.000 files, Mediaserver turned my phone into a grill trying to process it...)

Unmounting sd card causes my note 3 to reboot

Hi guys..has anyone of you having thesame problem after kitkat updates? When i try to unmount my sd card from settings it takes 30-60 secs and booom!my n9005 restarted itself and as if nothing has happen..my sd card still mounted. I did try to unmount it again and still same thing happens. At first i noticed that when i try to browse my files from the sd card using es file manager .it shows "invalid path" but after i updated the app it works fine..but still the problem unmounting occurs.. i search all over the web but seems nothing was facing this problem before.here r the other infos of my device:
N9005 kitkat 4.4.2
Micro sd sandisk class 4 16gb
Hope somebody can suggest how can i fix this without requiring me to format my sd card coz i do have a lot of files there and i do not have other device that i can use for backup..

Well when I updated my phone to 4.4.2 I did a full factory reset then formatted the SD card. I like to move what apps I can to the SD card to free up internal memory.

SD Card deleting files issue

Hi,
I have Omega v41 Lollipop rom. Whenever i delete anything on my sd card it appears again after the reboot. I am not sure what is causing this. Any suggestions?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
Does it work if you delete it from your pc?
It might be a dead sd card otherwise.

Can you add files to it?
Is the card set up as being write protected?
I have tried pc formatted the card and also used the phone format method. 40gb worth of data keeps coming back in original format.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
I guess it has reached it write limit.
You can try another card to see if the problem persists. If it does your phone is screwy. If it doesn't the SD card is cooked.
Yeah guys it looks like card is becoming faulty. Tried another sd card phone has formatted it fine and using it now. Its a shame how these card break so easily.

I had mine for 2 or 3 years and haven't had any problems.
Depends on what brand you get.
