Hi there, I've noticed that recently my Note3 (SM-N900) suddenly heats up. I also noticed there are issues with the SD Card don't know for sure that these issues are related but seems that could be, when the card gets disconnected until I reboot the phone.
My current SD Card is a Samsung 64GB (Class 10). Android Version: 4.3*

I've never had an issue with class 10 Sandisk 32 and 64GB cards, not in the S3, S4, Note3 or TF700t.... (except once, it got corrupted, I had to format it because I was too lazy to unmount it before ejecting every time... Learned my lesson!)
As for the heating, sounds like media server getting stuck on a corrupt file or a huge folder.
-Hook the card up to a pc, let windows explorer do a search for 0kb files. Under search settings>size, or type 'size:empty' (without the quotes) in the search bar. Delete any 0kb media files. (leave the nomedia, playlists and appfiles alone). Repeat process for the phone storage.
-Put a .nomedia file in every folder not containing music, video or pictures you need. You can copy an existing one from another folder.
-If you have a folder with over 1000 files, split them up or if it's not media, hide it with a nomedia file. (I have one folder with over 18.000 files, Mediaserver turned my phone into a grill trying to process it...)

Hi,
When copying files to sdcard it can take some more time than the one showed in your computer screen, for example: when I copy some manga to my Kindle, it always showed "Complete"in no time, however, when I selected to eject the device, a message appeared "Writing data to Kindle, please wait...", if I unplugged there it would give me some corrupted files, which I believe is what is happening with your sdcard.
Try reformatting it to FAT32 (which is more assured to work on your S4) and then after copying the files leave it there for some time, and always remember to select eject device before really unplugging, as it will make sure there's no more connection between your PC and your sdcard.

Thanks for help.
I allways select eject before unplugging.
I think i solved the problem. When i transfer my files one by one, i can see my files (images-videos) on my phone :what:
One more question, does exfat support app2sd or only fat32 ext2...? Because on exfat my apps disappears after reboot when i move them to sd. On my sandisk 32gb i moved all my apps 2 sd. Sandisk was formatted as fat32.
Thanks

I have this problem on my s5 but not on my note3 they both run kitkat which is the issue. Google has locked down the software so that you cant use 3rd party apps to transfer files straight to SD card.
Not sure of a fix yet unless you ROOT the device

strange.. I have no problem before OR after rooting,(I have an s5 Active on AT&T)... Is it too much trouble to try restoring and starting from scratch? Quite obviously youre having a problem others aren't,(storing music on an sd card). That would lead one to belive its either a software or hardware problem specific to YOU only. Something has happened since your last clean set-up..
I don't know.. im quite slow witted but that's an idea..
of course, however, im adding them to the sd card FROM MY EXTERNAL HD. NOT from the s5 internal memory to the sd card... ...if that's the case, try moving from the phone's memory to a folder on your desktop and then back into the phone via sd card
Doing it that way yes I can achieve the desired result.
I have a media server that I used to be able to acces as follows
Es file explorer > media server
Copy file from server to sd card
Now I cant do it that way.
So I add the additional step and it works.
The other issue is quikpix or any 3rd party viewer I used to be able to delete pictures straight out of quikpix now it says I can only delete from the pre installed view (sviewer)
I hope that makes sense

Probably a permissions error. Kitkat restricted third party app access to the SD card to make the OS more secure. Which broke a lot of apps. But I'm just guessing because you didn't provide any details that would enable us to troubleshoot it properly. Lots of errors.. uh huh. But what were those errors? What firmware version? How is the SD card formatted? What app are you using when the errors occur?
It's like saying your car is having problems.. but not giving any idea of what that really means. Did you have trouble starting your car? Won't go faster than 70 km/h.. stall.. weak brakes.. oil pressure light on? And for that matter, what model of car are we talking about? Knowing what specific SD card errors you had is rather essential information and it's odd that you wouldn't give us those details.
I don't think you did a forum search or you would have literally tripped over all the SD card problem threads and mentioned that. Most of the recent threads talk about the problems Kitkat introduced and it isn't hard to find posts in many of them describing how to fix the issue.
.

Does it work if you delete it from your pc?
It might be a dead sd card otherwise.

Can you add files to it?
Is the card set up as being write protected?
I have tried pc formatted the card and also used the phone format method. 40gb worth of data keeps coming back in original format.

I guess it has reached it write limit.
You can try another card to see if the problem persists. If it does your phone is screwy. If it doesn't the SD card is cooked.
Yeah guys it looks like card is becoming faulty. Tried another sd card phone has formatted it fine and using it now. Its a shame how these card break so easily.

I had mine for 2 or 3 years and haven't had any problems.
Depends on what brand you get.
I've got a Samsung 64 GB sd card that I've formatted and put in my Note 3, the problem is that its not recognizing it, any help would be appreciated. The problem I'm having is when I insert the card in my phone and go under Storage all the way at the bottom the Mount SD Card is greyed out so I cannot do anything with it
Thanks
Is it being detected in your pc ?
Which file system did you use when you format your card ?
Try a different file system.

I am at work so getting into recovery on a stock phone for me is impossible, when I get home I will try that, my phone is stock so not much i can do with it here.
Thanks
Stock touchwiz have issue with exfat ... At least that's what I remember reading somewhere... (havent used tw for quiet a while now ) Try fat32 (I know 4 gig limit is a pain ... But just to clear things up ... ) and see of it reads before flashing a recovery.

I will try that once I get home today and again thanks for all the replys.

I just noticed this in your post above, you say 4GB limit, what did you mean by that?
In a Fat32 file system ... A single file can't exceed 4gb ... In case you want to transfer a 8gig rar file to your mem card ... You can't do it with fat32.

unfortunately no go so far, got home and reformatted several size SD cards but its not reading any of them. I had a few 8GB, a few 16GB and also the 64GB card I am trying to use but just no luck.
Taking it to a phone shop today to see if they clean the contacts on the phone itself and if that doesn't help I will return the phone.
