[Q] Full screen caller or transparency to incall screen ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have always wanted a full screen incall screen or the transparency in the incall screen to get a full photo of the caller. have seen many ROM's implementing this feature on 4.3 and also on 4.4. Recently many devs have started removing this feature from their builds. Any way i could implement it in my phone ? Any flashable zips for this feature ? I am using Purity Rom currently.

Jelly Bean CM10 Lockscreen gestures

Hi,
Does CM10 or CM9 support lockscreen gestures? I can't find anything about it in the FAQ or the description of the ROMs.
I'm wondering why this question has not been asked more often... In my opinion this is one of the best features- I can turn on the flashlight drawing an "L" while my mobile is still in my pocket!
Another thing is the permission management. Is it possible to block some permissions for an app in CM9 or CM10 ???
I'm still on CM7 but would like to switch to JB as soon as I know whether those features are available in CM9 or CM10.
Thank you,
Greetings
Haven't seen this so far, but i will also keep on searching. If i find any helpful stuff i will post it immediately in this thread.

I'm really hoping that the lockscreen gestures come back...
Am I the only one who is thinking that this feature is so important?
Nope u arn't alone I also think so
Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app
i too think that lockscreen gestures is one of the best features of cm7, but i wouldnt get my hopes up regarding it being ported to cm10 as one half of the screen is taken by the unlocker 'slide', and the other is by music control. remember in cm7 the music control was 3 little buttons at the bottom and there was plenty of room for drawing the gestures. i have no idea how it could be solved now :/
Man I was hoping this was already available!
I never used cm7 by myself cause i have an st15i and when i found out about cm the newest version was cm9 so i used that one. I was surely cool to have gestures on the lockscreen and i cant wait for it to be ported (somehow). Google gesture search is like the cm gestures just not on the lock screen but works exactly like cm version.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
I really miss this feature. Hopefully lockscreen gestures will be implemented in CM10 eventually, but in the meanwhile, the "Gesture Lock" app seems to be a close approximation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.whacked.gesturelock&hl=en

I'm using this right now, but it has some faults.
1) no sensitivity control like CM7. So, a curved line pretty much runs the same gesture as a straight line. Without sensitivity control, you are very limited to the gestures you can use unless they are uniquely intricate.
2) The giant clock. I hate this clock on the bottom of the screen. I have a lock screen image I use that displays owner info and some other important info. The clock takes up a large portion of the screen and makes it hard to fit. Besides, the status bar has a clock, so it's pretty much just double displaying info I don't need. I would be willing to pay the developer to add a hide clock option, but next item rules out that option.
3) The developer isn't working on it any more. I've emailed him to ask some questions and he said he's pretty much too busy to do anything with it, so don't expect any updates or improvements.
4) No shortcut ability, other than launching apps. CM7's gestures would let you set a gesture to run things like direct dial a number, toggle sound, turn on flashlight. Gesture lock can only launch apps. While this is a let down, I have found a solution to the problem by using Tasker. Takser now has the App Factory which lets you create an app for anything Tasker can do, which is pretty much anything. So, I've created a few apps like toggle flashlight, which unlocks pattern lock, toggles Tesla LED, then locks the device again. Essentially, it toggles the flashlight pretty much the same as CM7 did. I've also made a couple direct dial apps that work similarly to dial a phone number and relock the screen.
5) No way to choose the color of the gesture trail or disable trails. I loved that I could hide the gesture trails because I made my lock screen look like a regular lock screen with a slide to unlock graphic. If you didn't know the gesture to unlock the phone, you would think the screen is frozen because the slide was just an image that didn't move! With Gesture Lock, you can see the yellow trails and it gives away everything.
Overall, it's a decent app, but nothing close to the CM7 gesture settings. I will forever miss it if it never comes to CM10. I'll probably also never use CM10 if this feature doesn't get added because I am perfectly happy with stock JB as it is now. I've got a ridiculous battery life on my Razr Maxx HD, so I don't really need to save battery, which was my man reason for switching to CM7 in the first place. I wonder if enough of us request it with a donation if it might happen. Anyone else interested enough to donate for it?

I just found another alternative: an app called Gestos, available free on the Google Play.
It's a really nice gesture app with lots of options, including a gesture lockscreen that works well. Unfortunately, the custom lockscreen includes an ugly clock that I don't like, but the gestures work well.
The app also has a thread on XDA.

A bit of help with CM12

Hello guys i recently installed CM 12 passed from my beloved Optimus G3, anyway i wonder if it's possible to auto hide the softkeys and make them smaller, also if there is any way to get more icons in the drawer ( increase/ decrease DPI i think?) those thinks are huge!
- Also if you guys can give me some advice on what to install next, i don't like CM, will there be a lolipop version of Optimus/Cloudy G3?

Download a custom launcher from the playstore like Nova or Apex. You'll be able to set your drawer and home screen grid size accordingly. Changing your dpi within your build.prop wont actually give you more space to put icons, it just scales the graphics.
Just install CloudyG2 2.2 or CloudyStock and you'll never use another ROM again . You'll see a lot more lollipop development once all the G2 models receive the OTA update.
Thanks, for the info , do you also happen to know if there is a way to hide the softkeys, i don't think its possible to use g2/g3 tweakbox on CM right?

Not to my knowledge, CM12 is still unofficial for the G2 and doesn't contain the expanded desktop mode feature just yet like CM11 does. I say just stick with KK ROMs until Android 5 becomes stable and feature packed (aka wait a few months).

It does? Beautiful! Glad to have helped. Remember, you can tweak expanded desktop mode even more by choosing to only hide the status bar, nav bar or both.

Question: Any way to activate the dt2w & the dark material theme and make it stick?

Question: Any way to activate the dt2w & the dark material theme and make it stick?
You know, apart from installing a custom kernel or a rom? I heard the dev preview of M had a Dark Material theme built in which I understand was a function that is used in tandem with Android Auto ( a service that connects your car to your phone). The double tap to wake feature also was uncovered in some code but it has to be toggled every time you reboot the phone.
I was wondering if there were any enterprising people who might have found out how to access these "built in" features of the phone without having to do excess modification via means of a custom rom/kernel. An xposed module (if that's what it takes) would be ideal, as I don't want to stray from a base stock rom. Thank in advance for any responses. :highfive:
Just plug it into Android Auto to enable automatic Material Dark, with the caveat that it's only enabled for all of Google settings.
Details are in this thread that I started.

You can install ElementalX

This kernel has some very cool features including DT2W.
Yes like @tech_head +1 for ElementalX Kernel for DT2W

I don't have Android Auto in my car, will having the app installed allow me to do it somehow?

I was trying to avoid putting a custom kernel on the phone, trying to stay somewhat stock despite having xposed installed.

If you have already gone Xposed, might as well install a kernel to get the features you want.
You can always go back.

Not that I'm aware. I confirmed it did not work before plugging it into an Android Auto head unit. What I did not test was if automatic Material Dark would've been triggered without turning on the headlights.
Summary:
Confirm no Material Dark in Google settings
Plug into Android Auto
Turn on headlights (Android Auto goes into Material Dark theme)
Unplug device
Confirm Google settings became Material Dark at night

Can't get the date and/or day of the week to show up in the statusbar using Wanam

Hi! My I am on 5.0 using the stock Samsung TouchWIZ ROM (I heard you can't dial 911 on custom ROMs on this phone so that terrified me) but anyway I have Wanam Xposed installed and it has an option for displaying the date in the status bar along with the time. The time only shows up. Not the date. If I tell Wanam to move the clock to the center, it will do that, which is weird because it has SOME control over the clock but cannot seem to get the date up there?
I also installed GravityBox and surprisingly a lot of features work however, just like Wanam, I can't seem to get the date and/or day of the week to show up in my status bar.
Anyone know what's going on? Thank you!
Not all features work. That's known.

I don't mean to sound dumb but why would it be an option then? I thought the point of Wanam was to make options available that worked with Samsung phones.
I am not complaining. I am just confused as to why the option would be there then. Similarly, some options using GravityBox work just fine that aren't in Wanam, such as adjusting the brightness by swiping across the statusbar and clicking back twice to enable/disable screen rotation.

visual mods

Hi all,
In the past a few mods have caught my eye, over time they've slowed stopped being available on all devices, mostly because of changes made to android.
Here's a list of the ones I liked most.
1. Screen off animation, the CRT on /off it just looked amazing.
2. List view animations, not completely gone but not exactly something you can just flash.
3. Halo, I know this was paranoid androids, but it never got ported over quite as much as I thought it would..
My question is are these available anywhere ? Any idea how to flash them ? Or even if anyone misses them like I do?
I know that CRT and list view can be obtained by flashing two Xposed modules called
Screen off animation and xui mod.
Halo I've never seen outside of PA.
But these mods used to be flash able as standalone without Xposed.
Personally I'd like to avoid Xposed as it breaks so much and I don't like it to be honest, although its a great bit of software.
Any ideas ?

You can use Screen Off and Lock ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en ) to achieve your desired screen lock effect. I too LOVE the CRT T.V. off look that Moto put on their phones some time ago. I use this app all the time in conjunction with Nova Launcher's ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en ) double tap action just to make everything super fluid. As for the list animations, I am not too sure what you mean but they may be found in Nova settings too. I know it has an option for something like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As far as the Halo type things you may want there is an app called Unique Controls and does not require root. Hope this helps!

This is one of my old HTC devices the list view animations can be seen here as can the screen off animation,. The CRT animation was changed from not existing to CRT to fade which it is now, the Nexus devices had it originally then vanilla type phones like Moto followed suit.
I've seen the application and it's not quite the same, although it wasn't last I tried it, I'll give it a whirl and see how it is.
Same with unique contrails, sorry I probably should have mentioned this too, they aren't quite the same as the originals.
Appreciate you taking the time to answer though, thanks.
From what i remember it was something to do with surface flinger but I remember that that has now changed although could be wrong (screen off animation that is)
Any other ideas?
Ok so that app has come a long way, by all accounts it doesn't allow for the actual power button to show the screen animation and fingerprint didn't work, probably a way to map a key to it.
Will check it out tomorrow
Cheers
Ok so tried a few of them apps and none of them allow you to use fingerprint thereafter
