Hi,
Somebody ask me in order I make a APP for Windows Phone and Windows 8. This App need to play a streaming content in diferent format as isml, rtmp and m3u8. I have got experience in isml format but I haven't got in the rest. of formats. So, ¿are there some library that I can use in order to play rtmp and m3u8 formats?
Thank you
HLS (what you called m3u8): https://phonesm.codeplex.com/
RTMP: you should write your own MediaStreamSource (including packet parser) and logic to stream.
Hi sensboston,
Thank you very much for your help. I'm going to studying your example and the library of this example.
Thank you again

Dear All,
Is there a software that i need in order to convert Windows media Player 9 files, in .avi format before downloading to my Xda Exec? I tried a couple of times but it just says the format is not supported. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks
regards,
Ravi
When you got WMV files your Universal's media player shouldn't have much problems with it. For larger files, say like ripped DVD's I use PocketDivxEncoder to shrink them & TCPMP to play them back on my Magician. Works like a dream & both programs are free .
Regards, M
I often use Windows Media Encoder to convert avi's and mpegs to wmv files.
The built in wizard includes options for Pocket PC sized files (320x240, low-ish quality sound) but you can totally vary the Bitrate (video & sound) to suit whatever quality/size balance you prefer.
You can download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx
And it's totally free.
The only downside is that it doesn't seem to be able to rip a DVD directly and convert to wmv. I normally need to use a 3rd party ripper to convert the dvd to mpeg or avi.
Nowadays though with my new 4Gig SD Card - I just whap the full movie (700 odd meg) onto it and play it with the best PPC media player available: TCPMP (The Core Project Media Player)
(Oh - Windows Media Encoder is also useful if you have a TV card in your desktop - you can stream the TV out onto the net/intranet allowing you to watch your programmes on your XDA
Still unable to convert
Hi guys,
I downloaded the Windows media encoder but i am unable to convert the .avi file. Everytime i choose the input file and the output and click finish it says ''Input media format is invalid'' Why is that?????
I chose the Pocket PC option as i would like to view the file on my XDA but i keep getting this error msg.
Would it be helpful, if i downloaded another software for conversion???
regards,
Still unable!!!!!
Hi guys,
Downloaded the PocketDivxencoder and converted the file but when i tried playing it on my XDA it says file format not supported!!!!!
Is it a problem with the Windows Media player that i am using?????
Is Windows media player the default player for the XDA? Would it be helpful if i installed another Media Player?
Where can i get this TCPMP ?
Any suggestions would greatly appreciated,
thanks and best regards,
What kind of avi are you using, a divx maybe? Cause avi is just a container for many formats & wme doesn't support all of them.
Regards, M
Just google for tcpmp it's really easy to find.

OK DONE!!!
Hi guys,
Sorry for the multiple posts, but i finally managed to download TCPMP and converted the files via PocketDivxencoder and it now works...FINALLY!!!!!
Sorry to have bothered everyone,
regards,
I got it with the PocketDivxencoder too.
BUT: I got several avi-files, is it possible to get only one big file?

I already know that, as said iam not searching for TCPMP. The app iam searching for is The Mobile Grab client!
so it's an application which selects the correct url and opens it up on TCPMP.
where do we find it ?
anyone interesed ?
i know this post will be deleted & i will most likely be called an idiot but it your trying to broadcast your television from home and tune it on on your mobile device....then you can use www.slingbox.com
nobody will call you idiot, but it is not a good way to do it.
if we have capability of directly connecting and streaming why put another node ?
so nobody has this little piece of software ?
Why buy a slingbox when the Dreambox seems to be capable of doing it itself? Any way, long time has passed and my quesion still is, does any one know how to get this software?
yep. still waiting...
Closest thing i could find...

From what i've seen with this app, it does what you want it to do.
Since it's opensource and written in PHP, i think it can be modified to contain pre-selected settings just for PDA viewing.
Btw, i think you can forget about just a single program without a middleman doing the transcoding, since the Dreambox is incapable of transcoding its stream.
What the Youtube video could be is a website showing links to all the channels, and by clicking on them it launches TCPMP with the stream.
moullas,
you are wrong. why ? because Dreambox uses mpeg2 streaming which is the easisest codec to decode for any client type. That's why a middleman is not required.
And if we had the VLC player for ppc, we could watch directly Dreambox channels.
Here is the VLC player for PPC
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1545
unfortunately it does not run on Hermes (as far as I remember)
that's why I tried to compile it from source a while ago but I couldn't succeed.
if it runs well on anyone's wm6 device , please let us know.

What do you want VLC to do that TCPMP or CorePlayer cannot?
Well that restreamer seems to be okay, but its not as simple as that application that he uses. Maby i should try it... The problem for me isnt that it need to be compressed true another computer but that i need the simplicity from the application, cklick and play!
I have my movies located on a NAS server. Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to play movies directly from it. The films are in the "vob" format?
video_ts is just the folder name for dvd format videos. I dont have an answer for you, but to help you search you need to be searching for a player that supports '.vob', not 'video_ts'.

Thank you. I edit the title.
.vob is DVD MPEG-2, and there isn't any player that correctly supports it under WM, simply because it takes a lot of power to decode, which no WM device ever really had.
TCPMP with the AC3 and FFMPEG plugins will play it, but just barely on the HD2, a little laggy, and most importantly without deinterlacing, which looks ugly if your content is interlaced.
alright as you all may know or not know, some blu ray movies come with digital copies of the movie and i was wondering if anyone successfully transfered them onto your hd2 and being able to watch them??
ive tried 2 movies already and both of them say "a digital rights management error has occurred"
on the windows phone site it says that our windows media player on the phones will play protected content but the above quote throws me off??
and on the movies themselves say that they can be transfered to any portal device that allows it..
has anyone gotten theirs to work and if you did what steps did you take??
please advise

You just need to encode them the same way you'd encode any movie(unless of course you use WMP to sync you media content, which won't work in this case and isn't really recommended for movies anyways as the quality is just awful) .
I myself use MeGui. You can of course use a different encoder if you find megui to be too complicated.
The basics are that you need to find the largest file in your STREAM folder on you Blu-Ray disc and encode that into a format the HD2 supports(h264 packed in an MP4/AVI container).
Then it's just a matter of moving the file over and enjoying it on your HD2.
Avatar encoded from the Blu-Ray disc looks simply phenomenal!
the hardware supports it but windos doesnot have suitable codecs ,may be wp7 or android port will help

[Q] Can't play live radio on .asx files
Hey guys,
Anyone have an idea/app that can play an .asx streaming radio?
used to be able to do it with the hero from a link in yourmuze.fm but since changed to the SG nothing works.
Tried several live streaming radio apps like "A online radio". Also obviously tried just using the link in a the stations web page and that opens the video player that can't handle the file format.
any ideas?
thanks
Roi
I found it!!!
Sorry guys, my stupidity, I wan't straming from the mobile site of Yourmuze.fm ie //m.yourmuze.fm but from the main site and therefore the files being streamed were't set up for the mobile / android. now it all works fine, you just link your radio station stream ip address and the yourmuze server digests it for you format and download speed requirement.
perfect!!!
[Q] Internet radio recording app ?
The iphone has the Tunein radio app that allows playback of a huge number of internet radio stations and the ability to record them.
Is there an app like this for the Galaxy S ?
i usually do this on my PC in winamp
but i guess there could be times when you listen to something good on the phone and you want to grab it
it'll be hady to have an app to do this
BrooveAdore is one but still beta
Online radio help
I'm using An Online Radio, which I also used on my nexus one.
But on the SGS, I cannot manage to input the url of my favorite radio station.
If I try to search it from aor, it's not that effective, so I would prefer to just copy the radio link.
i save the links for my favorite streaming radio stations somewhere in my phone so that when i need to save them in a new app i just copy them and paste them. much easier than trying to type them out if you cant find them in the apps list
In order to play .asx files anywhere like in windows phones, windows media player, ipod, ipad, itunes, mp3 or mp4 player, android, samsung galaxy, a recommend solution is to convert .asx to other video or audio formats on Mac or Windows
Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert ASX toASX to MP3, WMA, AVI, MP4, WAV
You will find a simple solution
