[Q] Batttery level fallen from 50% to 0% - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a new Nexus 10. After the first charge my device shut off at 50% battery level. I had it connect to the charger and must wait a few minutes until I can turn it on again.
I looked at my battery level which now shows 0%.
Maybe my battery is bad? Should I replace the tablet?

Hello
I had the same issue with my first charge so I immediately tel the Google sav and they tel me to see if happen again and if it happen to tel and send them the nexus .
So I have made some cycle of battery and it did not happen again . so wait and see . maybe it is the calibration of the battery at the first utilisation ?

I've had this just happen to me yikes! But I have a feeling this is normal as how can a device that has been sitting on a shelf for months still have 97% battery charge? This is what mine showed on first start up,Going to leave it on charge overnight and see how it fares from then on.Hopefully its just a glitch.

Something that might solve you battery drain. Discharge your tablet. Try turn it on to be sure it's zero. Then charge it at max. One ce it's done you have to calibrate your battery with battery calibration from Nina.
There is plenty of tutorials on the Web

Yeah I've used that before on a smart phone.Anyway have recharged and am now sitting at 25% left after 4hrs 45 of on screen time but I did have the Google search wake lock happen all night so taking that into account seems about par for the course.

Hm wakelock are sources of battery leaks. Many people advice not installing or removing Google search.
Btw what's your ketnel and rom?

Everything is stock 4.4.2.

Have the Wifi sleep/off? I notice that when wifi is on when tab us asleep, the battery level doesn't account for wifi power use. The wifi draws power and so even if the indicator looks like it has been in sleep, it hasn't which and the wifi is draining battery. Try it.

Hm beside calibration, optimize kernel through governor tweaking and monitoring wakelock and partial wakelock I don't see how you could improve it. Maybe it comes from the bztrery

did not see it mentioned, but one app that has helped me very well has been Wakelock Detector from the playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
might help you to see if there is something (another wakelock) that is draining your battery heavily. Even of you are not rooted, there is information linked from the playstore.

Hmm - I think this looks promising.
Got my Nexus 10 on 17th Feb 2014. Battery showed approx 100%. I updated to 4.4.2 asap. Exactly same thing happened to me - reached 49% after 4 -5 hours of watching TV - tablet then shut down without warning. Had to connect charger and battery level was showing 0%. Charged it overnight - hopefully the battery calibration was out by 50% due to probable long shelf life.
Has your problem manifested itself again? I was on the verge of doing a factory reset but I'm tempted to hold off for now after your comments.

No since the initial shut off it has been fine so I think its normal for it to shut down on first use.

[i9505] High Battery Drain/Drops + Random Reboots

Hi xda-devs!
Since some days my phone goes crazy, it crashes randomly during usage. It's battery usage is enormous and during 5 minutes of usage the battery of my Galaxy S4 (i9505) goes from 100 percent to 85. Sometimes it crashes just for fun, when I want to boot it up the battery sometimes is at ~10% which is not really nice
I'm not playing much games on it, normally just WhatsApp, Reddit, and things like that.
By the way: my phone is rooted so I've tried different ROM's, several Kernel's and Basebands.
My current Setup is:
GOLDENEYE v16.2 ROM (4.3 JB)Ausdim Kernel v4.3v11Baseband Version is I9505XXUEMJ7My Bootloader is not a Knox one.
I've tried the most stock looking ROM's that I've found, no difference. The Radio cannot be the problem? On other phones it runs perfectly.

In the Period after the crash the Screen wasn't on long time, hope that the screenshots are useful anyways, i think not that much
The usage of apps is not that high, even after some hours of usage (now only 11 minutes) but the screen usage is always really high.
So does anybody know how to fix this problem?

I have googled for the problem, all I've found were tips for optimization, which i have followed almost everone.
When checking the serial number i noticed that the battery is baggy, isn't normal, right? Or just the NFC Coil? :silly:
But seriously, don't want that my phone explodes...
//Edit: The problem is the Battery, the serial number begins with BD..., so i think the best way is to contact the support.

Yes, you have a BD serial number battery recognized by Samsung as damaged. They will change it by free...

I have only googled in German which is my primary language, wasn't able to find very much when i searched for the bad battery performance of my phone. But the tip with the Serial Number of the battery was really good because i did not know that some of them are really bad affected. Normally i don't look under my battery cover, this time i noticed that this thing sticks out of the case :silly:
But thanks for your help, problem is solved.
I contacted the support and they will give me a new one

Bad SOT

Hi there,
I know that the topic has been dealt with countless times, but despite having asked and posted screenshots 2 or 3 times on dedicated threads, I couldn't get an answer. So I open my own thread hoping to draw attention
My S7E is the exynos one ,free from branding and never rooted and on the latest FW BPHJ. I have a hard time achieving decent SOT. My usage is mainly listening to podcasts (2h20 per day), few calls or sms. One thing, I have bad signal at office or home (1 or 2 bars). I know that it impacts the battery. Andoid OS and Android system are toping the list usually and on the below screenshot Google Play too because of MX player (certainly the ads). Something surprises me though, it's the amount of data consumed by the Andoid OS ! Please take a look at the below screenshots, and give me your feelings if you please
Thx guys.

Does your phone run hot ? And also if its hot while charging.
My advice to you is disabling fast charge because heat degrades battery very fast. I am rooted with stock firmware and i can get 8 to 10 hours sot constant usage. Have you ever gotten more than 3 hours sot?
Find AOD in app manager and uninstall its updates and force stop it even if you never used it before. And remove anything oculus. Replace facebook messenger with messenger Lite.
Had bad battery life but now im back at 7hrs SOT easy.

I do not use fast charge on a regular basis. Only when I forgot to charge it overnight I give it a quick boost and disable it just after. It's sometimes hot when I use it but not so often.
Yes I have already got 5 hours SOT but it did not occur many times.

Could 7.1.1 battery drain be from apps not optimized

Optimize all apps on 7.1.1system apps is there a fast multi select way
Noticed upon boot never does it and after looking into battery history telling me to do this but setting's menu under apps don't have a method . By the way this is on pure nexus ROM.
7.1.1 seems to drain the life fast and my device is new 3/days old
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Pure Nexus isn't great for battery life compared with other ROMs I've been on. Android doesn't allow some apps to be optimized. If your battery life seriously concerns you then you might want to try an app like Naptime which puts your phone into deep doze as soon as the screen goes off. You could also download a kernel manager if you don't have one and see if you are using a performance oriented governor or something more battery friendly.

I took phone off charger at 8:49am by 25min later it persists to drain in 2% increment drops showing 5 hours left before 0% that's insane .
Not the 6p I remember when I had it once before the day it came out .
Any fixes any options recommendations

If your phone truly is brand new, you're going to need to wait longer than 3 days to achieve optimal battery life. What is the date of manufacture in recovery>>barcodes? There are a few good apps that will tell you definitively what is draining your battery. BBS and GSam are two. It is also a great time to install Accubattery and get a benchmark on your current battery capacity vs. design.

The problem is not with stock Android 7.1.1. It could be your battery is defective or degraded. That's why I asked if your phone really is "brand new" or refurbished, and what the date of manufacture is. Install Accubattery and use it to calculate your battery's capacity vs. design.
Last few months my battery is also getting worse. Accubattery says capacity is around 2000mAh right now. I did often charge my battery, even when it wasn't below 50%. Maybe that killed it.

Not your fault mate, regardless of how you charged it. Battery was defective. Get an RMA if you can through Google or Huawei (even if it is out of warranty). If not, there are a few places selling good replacement batteries. Install yourself if you can, or take it somewhere to have the battery swapped out. Good luck to you.

Dude, I'm battery psycho, and I usually do a lot of tests using my battery. I bought a brand new battery this week and can tell you the results:
Original battery (almost 3 years old): Antutu battery app gave me about 4500 and something of score. I always use less than 40% screen brightness, got 1% drop in 2 minutes on wifi web surfing, sending text, etc (watching offline videos or streaming usually gets me 1% drop in 5/6 minutes). Playing games (stranger's wrath, don't starve pocket edition, space marshals 2), gets 1% drop each 1 and half minute. I've tested the cronometer, got 1% drop each 3 minutes only running him alone. When I charge the battery until 100%, the percentage drops by 1% in 3 minutes.
Brand new battery (not genuine). Antutu battery app gave me about 5100 and something of score (not too much of difference, but its made a change on my usage). On the same situation above, wifi web surfing and etc got 1% drop each 3 minutes, watching offline videos or streaming 1% drop each 6/7 minutes, playing games (stranger's wrath, don't starve pocket edition and space marshals 2 again) 1% drop each 2 minutes or 2 and a half minute, cronometer got 1% drop each 8/9 minutes (WOW), battery 100% to 99% in 5/6 minutes.
Not a huge difference, but I'm having more SOT now, so I'm very happy with this "Korean battery mounted in China" haha.

I don't get anything close to 3-4 hours SOT. In fact, this morning the phone went from 45% to 15% in about 90 minutes without being used at all (it was running youtube, but had casted to a chromecast, so the phone itself should not have been busy).

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Solid
Second day, almost 6hrs SoT and still 35% battery left.
Can we maybe also add what apps we're usually using (what apps use most of the battery)? This would be pretty interesting to know.
The sot's doesn't look really well. Or are you guys only played games? For a 4000mAh battery with Snapdragon 625 should be more possible.
Bit different, but I did an hour test of streaming youtube on WiFi (everything else closed, sync off, stamina off, etc) with medium brightness and medium audio through speaker.
It lost only 7%, so looking at 14 hours watching YouTube in this way
Pretty good I reckon.
In general use the couple of days I have had it the battery seems really good.
Edit... After a couple more days use my typical Screen On Time is approx 10 11 hours for general usage (mainly on WiFi)
Hi guys , this is what I've got in 2 days of use
