Hi xda-devs!
Since some days my phone goes crazy, it crashes randomly during usage. It's battery usage is enormous and during 5 minutes of usage the battery of my Galaxy S4 (i9505) goes from 100 percent to 85. Sometimes it crashes just for fun, when I want to boot it up the battery sometimes is at ~10% which is not really nice
I'm not playing much games on it, normally just WhatsApp, Reddit, and things like that.
By the way: my phone is rooted so I've tried different ROM's, several Kernel's and Basebands.
My current Setup is:
GOLDENEYE v16.2 ROM (4.3 JB)Ausdim Kernel v4.3v11Baseband Version is I9505XXUEMJ7My Bootloader is not a Knox one.
I've tried the most stock looking ROM's that I've found, no difference. The Radio cannot be the problem? On other phones it runs perfectly.

In the Period after the crash the Screen wasn't on long time, hope that the screenshots are useful anyways, i think not that much
The usage of apps is not that high, even after some hours of usage (now only 11 minutes) but the screen usage is always really high.
So does anybody know how to fix this problem?

I have googled for the problem, all I've found were tips for optimization, which i have followed almost everone.
When checking the serial number i noticed that the battery is baggy, isn't normal, right? Or just the NFC Coil? :silly:
But seriously, don't want that my phone explodes...
//Edit: The problem is the Battery, the serial number begins with BD..., so i think the best way is to contact the support.

Yes, you have a BD serial number battery recognized by Samsung as damaged. They will change it by free...

I have only googled in German which is my primary language, wasn't able to find very much when i searched for the bad battery performance of my phone. But the tip with the Serial Number of the battery was really good because i did not know that some of them are really bad affected. Normally i don't look under my battery cover, this time i noticed that this thing sticks out of the case :silly:
But thanks for your help, problem is solved.
I contacted the support and they will give me a new one

I know this has posted a million times.
Without a warning my stock KH1 with CF-root started to have bad battery. According to battery usage it's the android system. Around 40 - 60% sometimes.
I usually had it around 10 - 20%
Also the better battery stats says its caused by "suspend" and "events/0"
Now I've have read this bug over and over by tons of people but I never had it. Always stayed on stock with cf-Root. Didn't have a problem and BAM! there it was
As soon I noticed this I flashed stock back, first to KH1 and then KG6. No difference. And no I didn't just wait half a day to see if it worked with each other firmware or ROM I gave it at least 3 days or at least 3 battery charges.
And so it went on. Stock KH1 with CF-ROOT -> KH1 -> KG6 -> Cognition S2 1.51 -> Exynos 5.4. No difference.
Again I'm sorry of bringing this up. I wouldn't post this thread if I had this from the beginning. I just find it weird that it just appeared.
Maybe it's from my apps but wouldn't the battery usage say anything?
Just saying as well that my phone sleeps when my screen if off and goes awake when I turn it on. No odd awakes while my screen is off.
With regards,
Sven

This is the Android OS bug. I doubt it will get fixed before Ice Cream Sandwich, and even then, it's not sure. Welcome to the club of ****ty battery.
lol, battery is not so bad, anyway, which is the most actual firmware file version??

Did you refresh BatterBatteryStats? Sometimes it doesn't update. If it's updated, then it's not nearly that bad. For me I've noticed that 1m of CPU time is about 1% of battery lost. So for you in that screen it's about 12% lost due to the suspend and events/0 activities. And if battery is at 34% (can't see correctly, too small), then you don't have it nearly as bad as some others.
Here's what I get sometimes when it escalates: (20h lifetime, complete idle)
@OP- You are on the same group with me. I always stay on CF root with Stock ROM and I also never had that AOS bug until last week it suddenly appeared! I posted about it on the BBS thread but got no response usually. The thing is you can't stop it, once it there you just have to live with it. And gradually it will disappear again. Just wait till then.
Regards.

I've never believed in the AOS battery drain bug until I got it myself. And indeed like the others have said, there is no permanent way to fix it.
the best you can do is to try flashing different ROMs or kernels and see which one gives you the best battery life, with or without the drain bug. For starters, you might want to check out the Speedmod kernel

No, there are ways to fix the bug at times, just depends on what causes it. Day one when I received my phone, I had the android os bug. Used to be up in the high 50%+ for Android OS, but then I found out my router caused the issue and now it's always below 10%. I'm also on stock btw, no root or anything.
Hey all
I've been having massive issues with my battery life recently, it's never been great however it's actually gotten a lot worse post Kit Kat. I've taken a few screenshots on a few different apps like GSam Monitor, Wakelock detector and Battery Widget, I was wondering if somebody could help me diagnose the issue. Or at least just give me general insights into the numbers that I'm getting in terms of battery life.
EDIT: Just noticed a new issue where a couple of times my battery was somewhere in the 40's and then the phone crashes and when I start it back again it just has about 2 % battery left. Weirdly enough, after charging it for a couple of minutes, that battery now goes up to 30%. Would love to know if somebody has had a similar issue and what might be a way to go about trying to find some sort of solution.

Hmm.. That's weird listen--- >
1. If the screen is jittering and phone crashes... Battery is bad..
2. Try flashing stock firmware... Might be a software issue

same battery issue here. Its not because software. i tryed CM11m11, Ubuntu Touch, stock.. same problem. Im waitting new battery, because i was not that gentle with batteru when i was repalcing camera 15 days ago.
Usualy moment before phone restart, lose sim signal, then freeze and restart
If flashing stock doesn't resolve it, I'd say the battery is dying. I went from 2 hours between charges to 12-14 with a new battery.

I installed stock rom by tutorial what i found here, but problem stay same. Waiting for new battery
My battery is also dying (switched to new phone now). It averages about 1 hour of SOT over several days and it's only wifi only. I guess I could swap out a fresh one but it goes to show that we need easily removable batteries but they just don't last that long.

Experienced the same issues like you did. A friend of mine who is used to fix iPhones did it for me. I just bought the new battery and paid him a beer
Did your battery life return to "normal"? Not that the Nexus 4 ever had great usage time. I might attempt it myself as a challenge.

It did. I've connected my LG G Watch to my N4 so Bluetooth, GPS and mobile data are always on.
But Facebook is a Batterykiller I'm working from 07:45am till 4pm and when I come home I've around 40%-50% battery left.
Intriguing, but what is your SoT?

Around 3-4 hours when my Bluetooth, mobile data(3G) and gps is on. But I can't tell it exactly cause I'm not using it that much anymore cause my primary phone is the N5.
I replace battery, now everithing works perfect. It was battery problem, not software.
So I bought the phone used for 350 USD. The guy claimed he only used it for two weeks.
Although the phone is great quality, but I think the battery is broken.
Its like drops a percent after other minute use. Anyone please confirm it it's not normal.
Do you know how can I log the battery usage?
Sent from my HUAWEI Y300-0100
From 100% to 70% for 4 hours, just chatting in Internet. Look log in "battery usage " where you can turn on/off "stamina". From 100 to 90 I drown fast. The most long battery life % when it is 60-40%
My phone drops a percent after 5 minutes from 100% and sometimes it takes less time .. but battery life is good

The problem is here when you buy the phone?Try to calibrate battery(there are a lot of methods). The older user probably used wrong his battery. Calibrate and try for another week ...and see the results Do you make a factory reset when you buy it? If you don't ...try it... sometimes factory reset fix batteries calibration problems Sometimes my battery drops like yours but depends what i do.
Yes i did make him do factory reset before I got it. But damn i rush i hadn't, i could have seen total run time.
I read on another thread where it said Facebook app drains battery a lot.
I haven't charged it to 100 percent yet. Will see how long it by doing it.
Uninstalling the Facebook app did make a difference.

Try a hard reset and then flash 4.4.4 again
You should confirm that if the phone is using stock firmware. or you should just flash the stock one by yourself. since you said USED phone.
also if it is battery issue. you should able to get a new one from ebay. and I think there is a video on youtube about open the back panel and change the battery.

Update
Just wanted to post an update.
The About information of my Sony device, non rooted and did complete up to date.
Right now I have it fully charged to 100 percent and have read a few calibration "How-to". I removed it from charged and rebooted the phone. I have install GSM Battery Manager as well.
I still don't know how I can delete battery stats and I think i can't considering the phone isn't rooted. I have stamina mode enabled + low GPU/CPU undervolting option in it.
Lets see how long it last.

i bought the galaxy s7 edge because the 3600 Mah battery (before the galaxy i had iphone 5s)
After about an hour and a quarter had been 83 %
10 hours and the phone turn to 0%
Is there anything I can do ?? Facebook has been deleted and is still the same
Edit: maybe its because the sd card?
you can try and do a factory reset. My edge had average battery life when I first got it. Did a factory reset and battery life has improved dramatically.

First off, give it a few days to adapt. From the little information you provided, I can see that there are no apps that are optimised. The software will automatically optimise and will save power on apps that aren't used in three days.
Secondly, we need more information. Please post what apps are draining what percentage of the battery, whether or not you have the Exynos version or the Snapdragon version, and so forth.
From the battery menu, click on battery usage and scroll down to see what apps are draining your battery

As other have stated, give it a few days to adapt. Right now you're installing apps, they're filling up cache.. Well everything gets settled. You're probably also just unlocking it, just for unlocking like everybody else when they get a new phone. Over 2 weeks your battery life should increase dramatically if you don't factory reset, as everything needs to settle again then.
Hi there,
I know that the topic has been dealt with countless times, but despite having asked and posted screenshots 2 or 3 times on dedicated threads, I couldn't get an answer. So I open my own thread hoping to draw attention
My S7E is the exynos one ,free from branding and never rooted and on the latest FW BPHJ. I have a hard time achieving decent SOT. My usage is mainly listening to podcasts (2h20 per day), few calls or sms. One thing, I have bad signal at office or home (1 or 2 bars). I know that it impacts the battery. Andoid OS and Android system are toping the list usually and on the below screenshot Google Play too because of MX player (certainly the ads). Something surprises me though, it's the amount of data consumed by the Andoid OS ! Please take a look at the below screenshots, and give me your feelings if you please
Thx guys.

Does your phone run hot ? And also if its hot while charging.
My advice to you is disabling fast charge because heat degrades battery very fast. I am rooted with stock firmware and i can get 8 to 10 hours sot constant usage. Have you ever gotten more than 3 hours sot?
Find AOD in app manager and uninstall its updates and force stop it even if you never used it before. And remove anything oculus. Replace facebook messenger with messenger Lite.
Had bad battery life but now im back at 7hrs SOT easy.

I do not use fast charge on a regular basis. Only when I forgot to charge it overnight I give it a quick boost and disable it just after. It's sometimes hot when I use it but not so often.
Yes I have already got 5 hours SOT but it did not occur many times.
