awful sound ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently got a nexus 4 and i noticed that it has an awful sound quality any suggestion?
previous : Sony Ericsson ARC S , Sony XPERIA Z , HTC ONE (M7)

Other than to tell you to stop being so picky? ?
Look through the app/theme section I think. There are a couple of mods that should help you. Viper is one that comes to mind.

hahaha..lol...glad to hear that..!!
You can use Volume+ app to boost the loudspeaker and rock the place
Today I compared the speaker volume with nexus one, nexus s and desire HD. I must say arc owned them all without any extra app

The galaxy s loudness is about the same of the arc but in terms sound richness and quality, the galaxy s wins, but not by much.

Question: Xperia acro S or nexus 4 (camera and video quality)

As the title says. Which one for camera and video... overall performance is important too
http://sortable.com/phones/Sony-Xperia-acro-S-vs-LG-Nexus-4
Camera: Sony X
Still, I'd go with Nexus
I did too. In 2 weeks with luck my phone arrives :3

New Nexus 7 Sound Chip

On my original Nexus 7, the sound chip is very bad, at max volume the sound isn't even medium loud on my headphones.
I use PowerAMP with bass boost and treble boost on (I listen to electro mainly.) How does the new Nexus 7 compare?
Also, can someone compare the new Nexus 7 to S III in sound quality on headphones? Mainly how long each can go? The old nexus is terrible compared to SIII.
The new sound chip is really really good. Like really good. I use similar headphones comfortabley at about 25-35% volume, Clarity is great, good DAC.
i agree as well. i like the new sound chip as i listen to trance. and to add the new speakers and layout work better as well

As stated in the thread you linked, this does not affect headphone output, only the speakers on the tablet's output so it's not entirely relevant to the OP's question.

I'm finding its close to my HTC One coming through the headphones. Won't go quite as loud and clear but it definitely has impressed me. By far better than the first gen nexus 7!
Is the sound good because it's good? Or is the sound good because of how crappy the OG nexus was? The sound is the only thing I hate. Headphones and speakers. Makes me wonder if mine is defective. Or maybe I shouldn't expect more from a budget tablet. Would love to see more opinions.

I find the sound quality through the headphone jack is just average. Kind of muddy to be honest. I thought the original nexus 7 had a better DAC than this new one. Speaker sound is of course better than the original

I take back what I said, I had the equalizer on and it made the sound poor. The old 7 doesn't sound as good as the new one.

There is a static buzz at low volume on the speakers which appear on most if not all of the new nexus 7.

Don't have it on mine, but I do have a little dust on the upper left corner.
About the topic, I use my own custom made earphones, with superb bass, with AwesomeBeats mod. Works like a charm, though ViperFX also improves sound quality, I'm comfy with AwesomeBeats because its simple. Try any audio mod(requires rooting).
The sound on the 2013 nexus 7 is really good, I mean without headphones on it, it's totally another world from the first gen nexus 7.

Yeah man...! I am not active on Desire forums, because it seems kinda old in front of my new sexi-nexi toy
On a second note, I'm working on a ROM too, so looking everywhere for inspiration...!

What devices do you have? I will do some comparisons if I have any of the same devices that you have. I have a Note 2, Evo LTE, Evo 3D, Asus Infinity, 4th gen iPod Touch, and an iPhone 4.
Just so everyone knows, the iPhone 4 was free, I'd never buy an iPhone! I just use it as an iPod (never been activated by me). I did buy the iPod Touch when it was released though......SMH......

Not exactly a work of art, but yes, the price got me on the reins

Note 3 HD playback :/

Afternoon all.
Recently got an upgrade and since I wasnt to fussed on the S5 I decided to get a Xperia Z1. .
Bad choice since id gotta used to samsung from S2 owned all S devices. . .so luckily i was given the chance to swap the xperia to a lovely note 3
I really like it and since the specs dont differ much from the upcoming S5 ( camera slighty better and 2.5 ghz instead of notes 2.3) its a good choice i feel.
What i have noticed is the pixel density is lower from S4 and S5 but i really dont see it the difference in fact the note 3 screen seems better?
Anyway sorry for long intro but when i play HD youtube or even the HD helicopter video included on phone i cant help but think the HD isnt as clear or good as the S4 . .
Could that be the pixel density or something else?
Cheers guys

No one? Well ive downloaded a hd movie trailer and noticed the the quality is better then youtubes hd quality for some reason :/

Youtube quality is always lower the that of a movie! Also note 3 has 386 ppi and that is considered very high, so it has nothing to do with video quality!

New z2 user

Hi, I'll be switching from my gs4 to this phone soon. Can anyone give me a few pros and cons of this phone? Also I'm seeing this thing about "TF" files. What is that or is it just the file format specific to Sony phones?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Tft file is the actual rom (not custom rom) u can flash to ur device using the flash tool which is mentioned a lot on here lol.
Pros:
Would take too long to list lol
Cons:
For me to be honest non so far except that using the camera heats up the device which im not too bothered about.
-Also could be louder was expexting more from stereo speakers not saying it's not loud lol
-headphone volume output is not the greatest either a lot better on iphones n samsungs (not only z2 same was on my z so i guess sony is limiting the volume for our safety lol)

If people listen to high volumes that's their own fault
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Actually it's ftf, not tft
I guess it stands for flash tool file

I'm not seeing any "cons" either coming from a S3. It truly is an outstanding phone.
The battery life is simply awesome!

Lots of pros, such as amazing battery life, clean UI, nice design and much more. The cons though for me is that I could think of nothing for a con.

To me it never was, i previously used Z... Why do you need remowe battery? The only reason could be if the phone lags (stopped working) but this have easy solution by holding volume+ and pwr.button you can force restart the device from any case
Odoslané z D6503 pomocou Tapatalku
Not an issue. I'm getting home from 12-15 hour days with 65-75% battery left. I know that battery life is subjective, but compared to Nexus 5 I was getting home with 25-40%. Nexus was on PA with a kernel that helped improve battery over stock.

Hi, It is probably more productive for you to write what you need from a mobile phone.
ALL the flag ship brands at present have very decent handsets be they Sony, HTC, Samsung, LG, Nokia and Apple. Three different operating systems. What is your preference? Then take a look at the UI, again what is your preference. The options run from the highly specified UI of Samsung and some HTC's to the Google nexus range of vanilla OS.
Signal strength is a must for me.
I prefer Android OS
I like a light UI so Sony if my preferred UI.
Camera doesn't even come on to my list.
Quality of materials and construction rates very high on my list, to that end Sony and HTC are good also Apple but Apples OS is not my choice.
HTC make very VERY nice flagship mobiles BUT signal strength is their weak area, I live way out in the country side with very poor connectivity.
Nokia has had the best signal strength of any mobile I have owned BUT I don't like the OS on present day Nokia.
I listen to music, that is my area of expertise. Nothing to date can match the Sony through headphones for a sound experience.
So..........It's not so much what we like but what fits your needs, Good news is you are spoiled for choice. :highfive:
