[Q] Modified Email.apk to avoid PIN lock for Exchange - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I've seen several modified stock apks out there for Exchange that allow you to bypass the pin lock on your phone. I'm on the latest OTA update but rooted as of yesterday, and was looking to use one of these. However I've tried installing several and they all cause errors when I try to launch them.
Does anybody know if there is a modified Email.apk that will install on the Razr M? Thanks in advance.

I think there's an exposed module for that

Delete the su binary and app from your ROM zip and flash it? Of course, you'll have no root access...I've never tried it, but it might work. I'd like to know what these apps are looking for in order to decided whether or not you're rooted?
Ordered my Nexus 4 on the 13th. Still waiting.
You can try a temp unroot via superSU pro. A word of advice though: banks don't allow their apps on rooted phones because of the risks involved. Custom roms are more often than not less secure than stock ones, putting you at the risk of banking credentials being stolen or remotely siphoned or pished or extracted via adb. If you ask me, I'd say don't look for a work around. The restriction is there for a reason.

Have the same issue
Hi,

Problem with root access

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I was unable to find anything searching for it.
I ended up getting stuck on the Sprint screen loading up trying to do the hotspot mod so I decided just to reflash back to stock and reupdate to MF9. This morning before running to work, I used the CF root (which is how I rooted the first time with no problems) and when I got to work I realized that SuperSU doesnt show up in my app drawer. But it does show up under manage applications. When I try running an app checker tool it just hangs and I have to force close it.
Any idea on how to get this fixed? Would just re-running the CF root when I get home help it?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried to install super su fro. The market and see if that let's you give root permission to apps?

Yep, that's all it took, I thought I had tried that earlier when I noticed the other I downloaded was Super User instead (which failed) but the actual Super su app saw the original and overrode it and as is well. Thanks for the help! :good:

Possible to disable android os autoupdate?

Might be an answered question. Was just wondering if there's anyway to disable the autoupdate. I like my S4 the way it is right now and don't want any chance that it might autoupdate to android 4.3 which can mess up rooting etc even though i have rootkeeper. At least til issues with new android ver are all clear. So anyway to disable this auto os update? thnx..
Your rooted that's enough to disable I believe cus it wont update if modified. .I might be wrong

Rooted my nexus 10 and that didn't prevent it from dnlding the update. At least it has the decency not to go ahead w installing the downloaded update. Now I hv this constant notification on the status bar to install it. Don't want this to happen also to S4
4.3 is at least 1-2 months away so I doubt you need to do this. And got a blunt is mostly right. Being rooted will not allow the installation to happen. It will download the update and tell you have a system update but it won't install on its own.

So any danger of me inadvertently clicking on the update notification and update happens and wiping out my settings? or rooting won't let it updated at all and to update you have to go back to stock first?

The only way of being able to update its just having a rooted phone with no mods in someway and also having stock recovery, if you are rooted with a custom rom or mods and have a different recovery then yes if you click the update accidently then you wont have no problem what so ever its just going to abort.

On my rooted S4 (CF-auto-root), I also have TWRP recovery installed. So this would qualify then as a different recovery? Additionally i also got MF9HotspotMod-Odexed and international SIM unlock on there. So i am guessing all this should be enough to prevent any update?
OTAs won't flash in custom recoveries. If you for some reason hit install update it would boot into recovery and try to install but fail.

I agree 100%. I just got my daughter a Moto G GPE and since there are no working recoveries out for it yet, I couldn't flash a custom ROM. However, with root and Xsposed/Gravity Box, I can set up everything she (and I) need on her phone. In some ways, it makes custom roms obsolete for casual users.
+1. It is one of the best things that happened on Android lately
Can someone please link me to a root method for KitKat 4.4.2? Thanks

Just install CWM recovery on Moto G and after flash superuser.zip with it. Google for the rest of the information and download.

After trying two other methods that didn't work on Kitkat 4.4.2 I tried COOPTX method and it worked. Do not try to get TWRP recovery because it is buggy.

Install TWRP, and boot into it. Reboot the phone with TWRP it will ask about root, apply it, boot the phone and run the superuser installer.
I like the looks of Gravitybox but it seems to be messing up the magnet-activated wake-up of the phone when using the flip cover - at least with the settings I am using for this module - so I had to deactivate the module for now until I can find out if there is a solution with different settings ...

Clearing all Recent Tabs?

Just purchased the X Pure. Is there a way to clear all the recent apps tabs? I used to be able to clear them with one click on my Galaxy S6. Thank you
Not on stock but if you unlock the bootloader, root, and install Xposed you can. Or just flash a custom ROM with it built in.

What the above person said. Can't do it on stock unfortunately, but I can tell you it's not a problem to leave that stuff open in most cases.

No. You need Root access to run Xposed which in turn needs a non-standard recovery. From my understanding, it may be possible using systemless root but the update method may not be straightforward and needs stock recovery to be put back in place. I use full root on my Moto X Style as I kept getting issues with systemless, so probably not the best person to ask. Using search may bring up more information on this.
