N7 tasker tablet talk and read sms i have a dream - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all, well like title that's my question:
is it possible have n7 read sms, arrived on n4?
i'll try to clarify:
i have linked n4 and n7 with tablet talk,so when arrive sms or call on n4,i have notify on n7 (i'm sure 99% of you know tablet talk),when i'm driving.
so i'll like the n7 read notify of tablet talk.
i found a profile do 1/2 part of my question, read sms but if arrive to my n7 (i have the 3g version),so i hope there is a way to read tablet talk sms text.
maybe with autoshare or autonotify?

In my case tablet talk is the only texting app on my tablet so it was the default app.
Are you able to send and receive text messages from your tablet when your phone is connected outside of your car?

Valadarc.... I'm so sorry I have only seen you reply now.
Not sure what you mean by your question. But if I understand you correctly, yes I can send and receive messages from my tablet as long as tablet talk is connected on both devices wether it be Bluetooth or WiFi. Although my tablet dies not have 3g etc... it is Hotspot off my mobile. Tablet talk is on the WiFi with Hotspot option on my mobile
My problem is that Tasker and autovoice (on my tablet) does not seem to know that tablet talk is the default txt app.
If you want I can upload my Tasker profile or I can try your profile?
Thanks for your help

Calls & Text Messaging WORKS

I just got my A500 yesterday and spent all night and day trying to figure out if it was possible to make phone calls, receive phone calls, send and receive text messages. Finally found the solution and it works great. Its a given that you will need to be on Wifi or 3G (tethering or Portable WLAN). Using a FREE app called Viber allows you to make FREE calls and text messages over Wifi and 3G/4G to other Viber users (Android and iOS), what sets this app apart from others is that it maintains your phone #, no need for a new #, pin or username. Only problem is that upon setup the app requires to send you a text message to verify your phone number to setup your account, which is NOT possible on the Acer. I found a simple work around this to problem, so here we go!
What you need:
1. Rooted phone (Android of course)
2. Viber App, its FREE (attached) (Phone ONLY)
3. Rooted Acer
4. Titanium Backup (Installed on both devices)
Instructions:
1. Install Viber on your phone and set up your account, very simple and fast.
2. After installation and confirmation (important: I would make a call or send a few text messages to make sure it's working),
3. Open Titanium Backup and make a back up of Viber
4. Transfer the back up of Titanium Backup to your Acer, make sue you place it the correct folder: sdcard/TitaniumBackup (or where ever you store your Titaniun Backups on your Acer).
5. Open Titanium Backup on your Acer and Restore the Viber app with data
That's it you can now make calls and text messages using Viber, the voice quality is awesome and the speaker is loud and clear!
Hopes this helps, it did for me
You can send invites to your contacts within the Viber app, once someone installs and setups Viber you will receive a pop up notice.
***Do NOT run Viber on both devices at the same time, it may cause FC and routing calls/text messages to the wrong device, simply shut down Viber (More>>Exit) on the device you are not using***
how can you do it?

Decent find on making an app work. Question, what's wrong with Skype or gtalk?
I still want an app that enables an android phone tether with the acer iconia via bluetooth, usb or wifi and you are able to text and call people on your tablet.

As for me... I have 16 family/friends on gtalk (only 4 sign on & more than half the time they never notice I sent them a message, "I didnt know") or they are NEVER signed on, either they dont know how to sign on or dont use it at all. Skype, I have 0 family/friends that use it and I not to crazy about it... I just like the simplicity of Viber and ease of use, when you get a text message a pop up appears (like HancentSMS) and you can reply right from there.
I guess what it comes down to is personal preference
would this conflict with google voice?

No not at all, thats the beauty of this app, it does NOT use your google voice number. It uses your actual cell number
I've been using Viber on my phone along with google voice and when people call or text me using Viber it does not effect google voice at all.
Awesome! Works great only downside I found is it will auto rout to the tab unless you turn it off when trying to call to the phone!
But that is minor compared to the awesomeness of the text and calling.! I love how I do not have to leave the app im in to reply.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this tip. I just got it on my tab and placed a call and its great. The odd force close, but otherwise great

Yeah, you really shouldnt have both Viber services running on both devices... Turn one off when using another (guess I should add that to the OP)
The pop up is awesome, dont need to leave your current app to reply

The FC happens here and there, mostly when running Viber on both devices, close one before starting the other and you should be good to go!

+1. If I can't get my friends and family to use Skype etc they're not going to use this.

The difference is that this app runs in the background, your friends and family DONT need to log in, when you call from Viber the phone rings right away, just like your stock phone app does (its just purple). When you text someone a pop up appears on the screen... see attachements
(Yes I have a friend that's a d!ck head and a brother I call Monster)
perhaps a silly question, but it wasnt specified... does the phone need to be pluggd into the tab for this to work? r once its set up it will function as long as there is wifi?
from Sams inFuse... inFused GB

No it does not ... You can leave the phone at home, car or wherever. As long as you have some sort of data connection, whether it be wifi or tethered 3g/4g

Look at TexTab Lite on the Market. The tab & phone communicate vai BT so you can send and recieve text on the tab
thanks
Thank you I like this better now I can spy on my son even easier when he is texting on my cell
Giggles I know bad mommy.but well I have no excuse I pay the bill
I use...
I use "SyncSMS" for this - paid version. Don't need root on either device (the phone or the tab) to have messages synced, it uses your dropbox account to keep sync, and i think it does a pretty good job.
tablet talk works great and its free

[Q] How to transfer SMS/MMS to another phone

Hi all,
I have aquestion and couldn't find any reply on this forum: Does anyone know how to configure a transfer of all my incoming SMS/MMS to another number?
FYI: I got a new phone from my job and don't need to carry my Defy+ around with me all the time anymore. I set up a call transfer to receive incoming calls on the new phone but it doesn't work for messages.
What I'm looking to do is basically the same thing as setting up a rule on your e-mail to transfer everything to a second address. If I'm not clear please let me know and I'll explain.
thanks !
Anyone?

Try any sms forwarding app in play store. for eg. SMS FORWARDER (sorry, n00bs can't post links)
but every fwd msg will cost you...
you could also provide your contacts with the new number
Try SMS backup +. Can't restore MMS, but can transfer sms to other phone.

Quick question involving android to iphone group messaging

Ok, I have never had an android phone before, preorded a N7 and once I used it I knew I would ditch iOS as soon as I could. Being that I have only used the Nexus 7 I have absolutely no idea how SMS works on the android system. If at all possible can someone confirm that android to iphone group messaging works properly? IE everything is contained in a single thread, doesn't show up as MMS, and I don't receive my own texts? Also in our group messages two of my friends are on ipods so we use imessage to include them. Am I correct in saying that I will not be able to message with them without using a third party app? Thanks for the help guys and hope I receive my N4 soon! :good:

Just curious what the benefit would be (i'm clueless )...
One of the major benefits of GTalk is the online status.
If you happened to need get an answer and there are several people you could ask the question, it's better ask someone who is currently online. Hangouts forces you send message to EVERYONE because you have no clue who is online. Not only it will waste other people time, because they spent time answering the question that was already answered by someone else, but also your time as well, since you'll be interrupted by the answers.
Other words hangouts is something like email service of year 2000
http://d-h.st/9Uf
Without online status I might just as well use email instead of Hangouts.
