Yah you can go back to your stock ROM after custom recovery, doesn't effect ROM.....also you can make a backup just fine

Sweet! Thanks. Can you recommend a stable 4.4 rom?

Paranoid Android, Mahdi, OmniRom, SlimKat etc2 ...
you have to taste them all to know which one suits your requirement but those 4 definitely at the top of the piles

Awesome thanks for all the help!

EPM stock rooted

I recently flashed the stock rooted 4.1.2 update via twrp. Coming from clean ROM, does anyone know where I could find a flashable zip to add an extended power menu to the stock ROM? Mostly Interested In Being able to boot into recovery easier. Thanks in advance.

I second this, would be nice to have/add to a stock build.
Now that this has been moved to q&a, anybody?

[Q] are the 4.2 and 4.3 bootloaders the same?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to fastboot the entire 4.3 image to my tablet and start clean but I'm afraid that if the bootloaders are different I won't be able to install the custom recoveries, Philz CWM, or CWM touch for example.
Thanks in advance.

No, old one is LJ12, new one is MD03.
I use TWRP 2.5, and it works fine on the new bootloader.

I'm using phipz cwm and it works fine on new boot loader but every time a reboot room it it says ROM wants to flash stock recovery and you have to press prevent flash or no allow flash.

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I'm gonna stick with TWRP for now until CWM gets updated.

Its the wrong section mate. But here is the stock one. I made a flashable zip. Should work.
Sorry man. Thank you though. I didn't pay enough attention. Hopefully a mod can move this.

The above link works just fine, but in adition I would recomend you to check Nexus Root Toolkit, from our member WugFresh. It has you covered in pretty much anything you can do with your nexus device regarding flashing, restoring, backuping , etc...

Why would you need someone else's nandroid?
Why don't you just simply download a fresh install package?

Just download any custom rom install package and flash with custom recovery.
Obviously you already have custom recovery.
I don't believe bootloader version matters for custom rom.

Sorry I don't know about miui never used it on sg4, I used it on HTC desire HD and never liked it.
With out knowing myself, can you not flash custom rom at all,? have you actually tried? Does it error out while install any custom rom?
I'm not advanced enough with sg4 and I'm still on old bootloader so no idea about this BS bootloader issues so I'll back out now and I hope someone smarter can help.
(Can't remember having these BS issues with my old HTC's)

thanks
Someone else's nandroid isn't going to fix this issue for you. Once you've got the new bootloader, that's it.

Quick question before beginning to flash roms

Hey everyone, just a quick question before I start flashing Roms. I rooted and then installed twrp with freegee. I then went and did a nandroid of stock. I am now ready to start flashing Roms right ? Did I miss any steps
Thanks in advance

Make sure a custom rom you downloaded is for your phone model. Like D802 to D802 not 800 or other. Otherwise you will got brick.
