Google Chrome abut://flags tweaks - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

Hello there!!
I use these chrome://flags

I think chrome is smoother now, thanks for sharing!

My experiences have led me to not disable click delay, even though it's one of my favorite options. It causes errors on many pages when trying to click on javasvript links and some other non standard links. An example is if I go to the gmail site in desktop mode. Clicking on a level brings up the "Ah, Snap" error page. After I undo the setting in flags, everything works again.
I guess it's not a huge deal, but if I wantef to used this flag I'd constantly be in flags undoing my changes whenever I encountered a site that gave me errors... Not gonna happen.
I've actually thoroughly evaluated most of that flags in action and the right combination of them can be awesome but a lot of them shouldn't be touched unless there's a good reason for it. Like disabling or enabling a lot of the new experimental extensions etc. Other flags such as the disable click delay one just aren't ready to be used yet for everyday browsing. Sorry for all the attachments, but I'm working and don't have time at the moment to type out all my flag settings
I'll upload screenshots of the settings I normally run on (chrome beta). If using normal chrome some of these settings will be different. For normal chrome, the flags are basically set the same way so experiment some.

Gonna try your flags lol

Info and Feedback
Thank you for the tip .... works quite well.
P.S.
An experience/source maybe some of you don´t know - if "Chrome with data optimization" is activated or "proxy redirects" the AdFree hosts file (e.g. Moab) etc is ineffective!

No Opera Turbo

Hi, I use the standard Opera 9.7 that came with the HD2 and it doesn't have the "opera turbo" option under "settings -> display" as it says in the FAQ that comes with opera. I can't even find a setting for opera turbo anywhere in the registry so far.
Do you have that issue, too? Or is turbo enabled by default so there is no need to show that option?
I also can't found it. But You can use Opera 10 mobile beta 1, it has turbo, but multitouch doesn't work and for auto rotating screen is necessary some registry key add.
According to Opera it should be there since 9.7 and the HD2 has 9.7
Anyone else got an idea?
I think its just not included, but maybe if you re-install with a version from the Opera website?
I'll wait for opera mobile 10 final
You can find the option by tipping "opera:config" in the adress bar -> User Prefs

Do you have it working now ?
However, do you find any different with the turbo is on ?
*pls delete*
haven't actually had the time to surf around, sorry. I'll report back when I get to it, if I notice any difference.
I also activated "smooth scrolling" in the same config and that made a difference I reckon.
I have test it and works really fast, half of loading time, I am not really sure why htc did not put that from stock ROM, any idea ?
would be nice to have the option to switch this in the setting menu. Turbo is not good when using secure sites. Also when in turbo i do not think it will remember passwords etc (i maybe wrong).
tbh I tried turbo boost, and I noticed a DELAY in page loading. since then i have returned to non Turbo.

Turbo uses Opera's servers to cache the webpage, which is then compressed and sent to your phone. Therefore you may well see a delay, but the loading time of the page will be quicker and the data transfer smaller. Using turbo on wifi is pointless.
The fact that the data is compressed on their server is why i say it is not ideal to use on secure sites.
despite the really short lag until the page show up, there is a real improvement in speed.
don't know if it's only me or did you experince the fact that some pages have a different "view style" now, too? seems like the turbo makes some pages use the "mobile view" although it is disabled. but maybe it's just that those pages see that you have a mobile browser and automatically use the mobile-css.

Opera Mobile 11.1 Update, preferred browser; Flash support and User Agent changeable!

I don't know if you guys know already, but Opera Mobile browser has been updated to 11.1, bringing along a whole lot of goodies, including flash support and user agent changes.
One thing I did notice was that typing lag on facebook seemed to have diminished, this was on desktop view, however still unable to type through some pages with "disqus"
I also found HD 720p videos on youtube has greatly improved! It might be just me, but frames seem to be a whole lot better as opposed to dolphin HD and stock browser.
Frames also drop a bit when viewing full screen 720p in browser, but its watchable.
A link to change log can be found here: http://my.opera.com/operamobile/blog/2011/06/30/opera-mobile-11-1-has-arrived
Temporary Fix to search bar always going to mobile search (must apply apply every time you reset Opera), Credit to iCracked
Hey everyone, I have found a fix for those of you frustrated with the old google mobile search. once you have switched UA to desktop, go to google.com manually, it should load up the full site. Now, using your finger, press and hold over the google.com (website's) search bar, to bring up the menu. Now select "add search engine" then go to your browser search bar and tap the little google icon to bring up a list of search providers and select the new google one, be sure to delete the old one to avoid confusion.

yes, I noticed that too, but I made some video comparisons with a few 720p videos that I watched on different browsers, and it seems Opera seems to perform better. Only my judgement though, and I'm judging on real world performance, not an in app browser test to judge what I can see.
I am running Honeycomb 3.1 stock unrooted
and its fast!!!! not the flash. everything else. no keyboards lag ... Google you need to learn something or maybe buy opera.

Opera is known to introduce its own optimizations, so that's why it's the best in terms of Javascript performance showing zero lag in text input. Finally, Flash support is available! How did they manage to do that without Honeycomb source code?
memory usage is pretty bad tho. 170mb right now on xda wtf?
I'm guessing that the Flash support doesnt work with the hacked/hulu Flash? Opera isn't picking up my Flash but it works in every other browser...
Seems to work well and without any redraw issues when scrolling quickly. Good spot.
nice...will have to give it a try when i get home.
Last night i did a second reset. trying to run my tablet without any downloads for the moment and monitoring performance.
disabled javascript, flash on demand, and the browser was beautifully working. opened up links super fast, then.........
i hit the back button (lower left on screen)...the page does nothing. i press again, and this time it takes me 2 pages further than i wanted...damnit
then when i go from landscape to portrait, the damn quick scroll guide (added in 3.1) is stuck in the middle of the page...
all of a sudden..it crashes. no message, no warning, just straight back to home page. wtf... shame, because i love the layout of the stock browser.
But. Opera..here i come
Loving it. It's REALLY quick, feels 4x quicker than the stock browser, and more intuitive too. I also just tried their desktop browser, Chrome killer or what!!!

Opera keeps on randomly zooming in on certain links when I click them. This is extremely annoying when using the touchpad as the mouse is plenty accurate enough.
Any way to turn this off?
Anyone successfully seeing flash videos in the new Opera using the 10.3 hulu hacked flash?
Google searches from the address bar or search box still use the mobile google site even with the UA set to desktop.
Did they also increase the font size on 11.1? The font size on previous version were much smaller then default browser, and dolphin HD

That's precisely why you don't see any redraw while scrolling. The stock browser uses less memory because it doesn't load the whole page, instead only loading the portion of the page that you are currently viewing. This translates to choppy performance because it has to reload the page every time you scroll up or down, but leaves more memory for the rest of the OS to work with.
I hate tabs on this thing. Hidden, huge and ugly.
Also it renders fonts badly (some letters are to close, some are too bold comparing to stock browser or Dolphin).
scrolling is jittery no where as smooth scrolling as default browser

I like them out of the way. They are hidden on my desktop that sports a full hd screen, I see no reason to keep them on sight on a "tiny" screen
Anyway, they didn't update Opera link, I was kinda hoping they will, so to get the most out of Opera 11.50....... oh well. One day.

Finally....Stock browser worthy of the Note.

Still boggles my mind that Samsung manufactures the best screen displays in the industry then dumbs us down to mobile only displays with no ussragent settings option. (the Verizon Charge is the only Samsung device I know of that does have these options).
Manually putting in the useragent options a pain btw, so I've set the best third party option (that equals stocks speed) to do this: boat browser mini.
BUT... BUT...been waiting for this:
Thanks to padlad we have these options...that have stock android browser with full beautiful Note webpages functioning with its innate very fast accelerated zip.

You need to root and have ClockWorkMod on your Note to flash those files.
Here is the link on how to root and install CWM5. It's a long read but basicly you download the root programme, the correct modified Kernel file, extract the kernel into the root programme folder (do this 2 times until you get a zip file), then let the programme do the magic (takes 2 mins).

Thank you.And does it also support the text reflow which is not working properly in the stock browser?,I am using the Opera but relutantly mainly for those two reasons.
I have another reason idon't use the stock browser.
You can't have the buttons that let you adjust the text size to the screen as much as you want.
At first i was convinced that it was a mistake on my part, but no, as hard to believe as it is they dropped something as essential as this, they did.
Could someone post firmware specific browser links?
I am for instance currently on XXKKA.
Yes, reflow would be very nice. I use Dolphin HD but reflow doesn't work there either. Rotating the display triggers text reflow though...

Hmm, my Dolphin HD text flow works great... pull up site in desktop mode, double-tap screen, text reflows to fill screen.
Or else go to More > Settings > Dolphin Settings: Show pinch-zoom button

hmm? about:useragent works fine here.
all i do is type in about:useragent in the browser, and then bookmark it to my homescreen. then i just launch my browser from that bookmark, tap the address bar and 'about:useragent' will already be there. then just hit desktop, and ok.
Course cept you have to repeat that over and over. The if not using this id use boat mini. Text reflow works great... Faster than the others.

why you guys not try firefox? reflow, user agent, plus the powerful adblock plus!
The reflow in stock works once...many third party browsers I can double tap a number of times for continual reflow.
The zoom icon allows continual reflow also but it's not available on stock.
If modded on it'd probably work well.

Firefox is just slow. Stock is very fast bested only by boat mini browser. (btw text reflows only via he zoom icon... Not touch)
I use rightware's browser benchmark
http://browsermark.rightware.com/browsermark/index.action
Also use a 10 site download test.
Both corroborate the results. Opera mobile is in the money also.
This is speed of course not features.
Will this work on the new kl3... and do we have to flash both??
I don't think it works on the different build. Someone correct me.
I haven't tried.... went back to boat browser mini.
Give Opera a try. It's the only one that uses hardware acceleration.

[Q] Web browser lag

Surprisingly dissapointed with browsing speed.
Coming from an LG G2 which was insantaneous in loading pages, my note 4 lags chronically.
This is observed in every browser I've tried.
It should be noted that the pages which the Note 4 loads, have significantly more and larger advertisements.
Symptoms:
1. 2-5 seconds longer in loading pages when compared to the LG G2.
2. Momentary freeze when swipe to scroll.
3. Noticeable jump when scrolling - every time with each swipe.
Has anyone experienced similar issue or able to offer any insight towards resolving?
Your input would be greatly appreciated!

I think that the biggest problem is that most web pages are 75% ads, and 25% content that you want.
Web designers are lazy, and they just throw every single ad they can find on there, and they make a mess of things. It is really annoying when you just want to read something and have to go through 14 ads and commercials to read what you went there for.
I think that this is the modern day equivalent of the pop-up. Most have those blocked pretty well, so now all those annoying popups are just integrated into the page itself and it really bogs things down. And I think that in their greedy zeal to force these ads down our throats, they make them less effective because we just learn to tune them out and become numb to them...
If it was an ad or two on a page, I might see it and check it out. WHen it is 9 or 10 I get annoyed and just start flicking past them to get what I want, or I give up and try another page altogether...
It will help a lot if you get rid of the ads. I am using ABP to block all ads easily when in wifi. no need for root.
if you got root adaway is the way to go.

Alright this is the final solutions I have found. If it wont work for you then it's the end of the world...
Option one: 1) install samsung support
2) disable javascript and restart chrome
If you need javascript enabled keep it enabled and make sure samsung support is installed
1) enter chrome://flags
2) look for "Enable Experimental JavaScript" restart and reply here for feedback...
Also don't forget to enable the 512 hack as well

Adblocker without root?

The ads make google chrome crawl it's do damn laggy , I switched to UC browser and the scrolling is sooo smooth , I couldn't believe, but I missed the google now recommendations ( pulled from my browser history ) and also I like being able to open the tabs I was using on my phone on my laptop , so I thought about getting just an adblock, Ive heard adway it's pretty awesome but it's root only and I don't want to root, specially now with the monthly security updates, any recommendations?

You cant do anything about that, it will say that for all non root Adblockers. The slower page loading is because the Adblocker has to remove the ads first before showing you the site, which results in a delay. So theres not really a way around it.

No, in fact AdAway makes webpages load faster as the ad server is never even reached. HOSTS file blocking is more seamless than a makeshift VPN for blocking ads over the web and in apps. Also no key icon issues.

The way these non-root adblockers work is by using a local VPN. That's what the key icon is for. It means you're connected to a VPN. Your traffic is being routed through this local VPN and that's how they remove the ads.

I just downloaded firefox, and i swear to you I cannot find the block ads settings, and it's not on by default because I see ads, do I need to download a plugin or something?

Yeah not by default. I don't have it here to check first hand, but look around in the menus, there is an option to install add ons or plug-ins not sure how they call it.
Once there search "adblock", you'll find what you need.
It works well when I need it, some websites are absolutely not usable if the pop-ups and other sh*t isn't blocked.

Try Adguard. It's the best one I've used. It even blocked ads in apps so you don't have to pay for ad free versions.

By far the best non-root adblocker I have ever tried (on my S7) and it takes a lot to impress me. Give it a spin, see how it works for you. It blocks ads everywhere. Browser, apps, etc.,.
As for the key that you see in the notifications, it's only there to alert you that you're connected and all traffic is being routed through the VPN (your adblocker is active).

Beyond minimal, it doesn't even show up on any of my battery readings.

I actually like this much better than Adguard battery wise. Really amazing that way. The only problem is that I use Unotelly DNS on my phone and this messes it up.
I'm giving firefox a try for now, but I know I will go back to chrome so I'm pretty sure I'll give a try

Why don't you root your phone, install Adaway, and unroot again? Seems to be the best solution.

Updates are not coming out often, it's enough to update it around every 6 months.
