I am having an android app developed and the developer sent me the .APK file so I can test the first version. I have successfully installed the .APK file on my Android device. However, when I run it, the app shows the name of each activity (with the app's logo) at the top, as shown in the following link quickid.net slash activity.JPG (XDA won't let me post a link, yet). The left picture shows the MainActivity, and the right picture shows the startTrail activity. So, what's up with that? Is it some kind of test mode? How can I run the app as it would normally be run as if it were downloaded from the Play store, without it showing the activity names at the top? Also, when the app puts text in the notification bar, it says "Rolling text on statusbar" before showing the text.
That looks like your dev make a mistake.

I assume this would be appropriate in the development forum, move it if it isn't.
Would it be possible to replace notification icons (one at a time) using root explorer in r/w mode? It seems that if you find an icon that you would prefer, name it exactly as the one that is being replaced, then remove the old one from framework-res.apk/res(whatever you are replacing), and paste the new one there, it would work. Right?
Should this be done on a "test" ROM using a PC, then flashed to the Aria? Would those paths be available if you navigated into the ROM using Windows Explorer?
I have used the UOT kitchen, but I don't want entire icon sets. If I select them individually, would they replace only those that are of identical notification value? Would it replace the BT connected icon with comprable icon, but only that icon, leaving the rest of the stock Sense set intact?
I am also interested in replacing notification icons that are packaged in Tasker. I would do the same process, navigating into that app. Should I try this or is it known to be impossible?

What ROM are you using? I did exactly what you described on CM6.1, replacing some status bar icons with their Sense equivalents.
I was even able to replace some notification icons in apps such as Music, Gmail, Email, etc.
I used Theme-Pro to do it and pushed all changes to phone in Recovery mode:

I'm a big fan of the many ADB "helper" applications on XDA, search around.
Tyr it, if you make a Nandroid backup, you've got nothing to lose, right?
I have found 'Traffic' 'Android' with no icon, listed in widgets. I am not sure if this is left over from uninstalled app? If I add the widget a black screen appears with three white boxes;
Widget name
Destination
Save
If I fill in the boxes it places a sync icon on the homescreen which doesn't appear to do anything.
Any idea what this is, anyone?
I have such a problem
Same here...it look like google put it on our sistem but I dont know what is for.
I've had the same widget appear lately. I use a Nexus One, stock 2.3.4 unrooted. The widget is a simple traffic light icon. It asks only for a name (label) and place (needs to be a complete address in order to work). When created, the widget displays current traffic conditions to the destination you specified, based on your current location. The light is red, yellow or green. It is constantly updated. Additionally, it displays the travel time in minutes. Location tracking must be enabled for it to work.
I gave it a try, and I must say it's quite useful. You can be out and about somewhere, and always know roughly how long it takes to go home, for instance.
Here I present a program called Notification Browser. It will show a list of all received notifications and tries to extract the info and show it as a list. Also a widget is included. Tapping the notification should start the corresponding intent and tapping the garbage bin icon should delete the notification from the list. The idea was to be able to have a full screen launcher and even then having easy access to notifications.
For it to work, you need to go to accessibility settings and enable Notification browser.
Release thread is here.

A while ago someone posted a thread about Remix OS which really made me think how good that would be. Unfortunately as we can see development for this device is next to 0 so i decided make this guide for anyone who might want to have a similar experience on a stock rooted rom with xposed.
***I DID NOT MAKE ANY OF THESE APPS, I JUST ZIPPED THOSE THAT I USE AND MADE THIS TUTORIAL SO THOSE THAT WANT THIS DONT NEED TO SEARCH EVERYWHERE TO FIND THEM***
***The xhalomultiwindow beta app was found near the end of the xhalomultiwindow thread and the sidebar is from another thread on XDA and all credits for the apps go to their creators***
Firstly ... there are bugs like sometimes something will force close or some apps might freak out a bit when being resized in the floating mode and not scale properly but it works in my opinion well enough for every day use.
With this tutorial i assume that you have xposed installed and running. If you dont, just do a fast google search for *xposed for lollipop 64 bit* or something similar and you will find it on XDA.
1. Download the zip in this post and extract with 7zip
2. Install the Xhalofloatingwindow-beta apk
3. Activate module in Xposed installer and reboot
4. Install the sidebar apk
5. Run the Toggle MultiWindowSidebar app from your app drawer(this should make a arrow in a white semi circle show up on the right side of the screen-the sidebar)
6. Run the MultiWindowSidebar app from the app drawer and enable start on boot and keep service in background. Here you also add in the apps you want to have and choose how they open if you drag them or tap them from the sidebar. I have it set in Drag Launch Mode to XhaloFloatingWIndow Portrait (landscape has weird scaling) and in Tap Launch Mode to Default which will open the app like normal android would
7. Open xHaloFloatingWindow from the app drawer and in the Popup WIndow menu set the Popup Dim to 0% (it is a matter of personal taste but i like it more this way with no dimming)
8. On the next page (swipe right to movable and resizeable) enable the switch and here you can play around a bit with the settings and set them as you like
9. Do a reboot just for good measure, it probably isnt needed but i did it anyway.
10. Have fun and dont try to kill me if something freaks out because you made the window 1x1cm
Another app that works nicely with this but is totally standalone is OGyoutube, while you can use normal youtube with this the OG app also allows playing in background downloading and playing with the screen off so i would highly recommend it.
Thanks for sharing! I'll play round with this
Another screenshot of Hill Climb Racing running in one window, Adblock Browser in another window while Moonlight streaming runs in the background at 1080p 60fps (the stream keeps working with apps over it but you might need to disable App Pausing in XhaloFloatingWindow app)
Hey guys
I was wondering, what are the extra code needed to run your app in full screen mode. Because the app runs perfectly fine on the S8 and LG G6 with the status bar the same color as the app, but when you run the app in Essential, it shows the status bar on the top as black.
What is needed, I have done 1:
1. Include the <meta-data android:name="android.max_aspect" android:value="3.0" /> in the AndroidManifest (Now runs the app in full screen, but still with black bar on top)
Second step, to imply this:
2. There is also this that must be added:
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/View.html#SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LAYOUT_FULLSCREEN
But where do you place this code, and what exactly do you have to write in the code and where, which xml or java file in the project?, for this to work. Does anybody know?
Im trying to to see what is needed so I dont have that black bar, all the other phones there is no black bar.
Thanks
Hopefully you solved this by now, otherwise:
The setVisibilityUiFlag method gets applied on the view instance. You get the root view by findViewById(R.id..)
There might be a way to also set this flag in the XML resources.
