unknown widget found - Wildfire General

I have found 'Traffic' 'Android' with no icon, listed in widgets. I am not sure if this is left over from uninstalled app? If I add the widget a black screen appears with three white boxes;
Widget name
Destination
Save
If I fill in the boxes it places a sync icon on the homescreen which doesn't appear to do anything.
Any idea what this is, anyone?

I have such a problem

Same here...it look like google put it on our sistem but I dont know what is for.

I've had the same widget appear lately. I use a Nexus One, stock 2.3.4 unrooted. The widget is a simple traffic light icon. It asks only for a name (label) and place (needs to be a complete address in order to work). When created, the widget displays current traffic conditions to the destination you specified, based on your current location. The light is red, yellow or green. It is constantly updated. Additionally, it displays the travel time in minutes. Location tracking must be enabled for it to work.
I gave it a try, and I must say it's quite useful. You can be out and about somewhere, and always know roughly how long it takes to go home, for instance.

Weather Widget bug? or change fr. 1.5

The weather on the home page with v1.5 you could add locations with a map search. I noticed that with v2.1 the map point location 'tool' is not there. I am trying to load certain locations to my weather and 2.1 version doesn't list any cities like version 1.5 did.
Is this a bug or a change? or am I missing something?
They expect you to know where you want to know the weather or else why would you want to know the weather? Confusing
Confusing, yes
Whether or not I know the weather is neither their business nor mine? I'd rather know whether the weather is more pleasant rather than not, in places i'd rather be....whether here or there.
author unknown. It's better that way.
sorry if I'm wasting time. Thanks to all of you who helped all of us who need "Eris and Android 2.1 for Dummies"!
All punning aside, I love the animations on screen. The rain drops had me nervous the first time they came up. The clouds passing by was neat. I think my favorite is the sunshine's aura.
There are TONS of complaints about the Eris weather widget. It's a flaky one for sure. We have three Eris's in my house and have yet to get all of them to work correctly, in spite of me spending lots of time on the phone with HTC. Mine actually works pretty well right now. My wife's would never display the correct city, but we could get close. After upgrading hers, it showed the correct city for the first time EVER...for a little while. The next day, it would only say "current location".
Sometimes your computer monitor makes a fantastic sounding board. As I sat here typing this, a thought popped into my head on the subject. Just grabbed the wife's phone (and some boob on the way by ) and went into settings>location and found that GPS was enabled, but network location was not. Turned on both and voila`...the correct city name popped up. Check your location settings. That's all I got for ya...I hope it works.

I have another issue with the HTC weather/clock widget. I've reloaded this new ROM 3 times already to see if there was an issue with installing other clock/weather programs but I have not been able to fix it.
On my home screen, the weather shows correctly (current location) and updates much quicker than the 1.5 ROM did.
When I tap the clock, by default it goes to "Desk Clock" Where it shows the time, weather and across the bottom you can choose between the world clock, alarm, stopwatch and timer.
The problem I am having is that the weather in this screen is stuck on Akron, OH. While I don't have anything against Akron, I don't particularly care about the weather there (its 640 miles away). I've deleted the location in the weather widget settings but every time the "Desk Clock" loads, sure enough, Akron, OH weather is displayed.
Anyone else with this problem?

Have you tried deleting the stock widget and then adding the htc weather widget and setting a certain location where you live or current location? When you add the new widget it asks what city or current location you want it to default to. I got tired of seeing it set for 14 or current location instead of the city so I just set it to Baltimore as its the closest major city.
hope this helps

I'm not having any problems with the stock time/weather widget on the home screen. It's the desk clock app that also shows the time. If you tap the clock on the home screen it takes you to the different clock, alarm, stopwatch, timer apps and the desk clock app shows the time, date, and weather. It is here that the weather only displays Akron, OH. My home screen updates as expected and about 5x faster than the 1.5 ROM.

Changing Color on Dock Screen

I've recently purchased a Dock from eBay and when I pop my Nexus One onto it, the phone doesn't recognize that it's a dock (which is no biggy).
I would goto the Clock Application, and leave it sitting on the dock for a couple of minutes (it will display my wallpaper, with the time and current weather). A couple of minutes later, everything disappears and only the time/date would appear.
The time is displayed in a Cyan/Blueish color - I'm using Cyanogen 6.0 (RC3) and I have modified my notifications/time/date color codes, but have changed everything back to WHITE.
Does anyone know how to change the color, or is it something that cannot be changed?
As far as I can tell there is no way too change it. Would be pretty cool if there was a way though.
Try opening the clock app, switching to the alarm (click the clock in the bottom left), then open settings with the menu key.
Last option changes the screensaver clock color...
Hope I understood you correctly?

Push the clock app from an older CM.

[Q] Custom Lockscreen, built from the ground up?

Do any exist and what does it take?
Basically I'm envisioning the standard Android lock screen, except for the right slider. I don't use it for vibrate, so it goes unused.
So, I would like to replace the right side slider with a smart button that allows you to open notifications based upon what you have received.
If you have an unread text, it shows a text message icon and sliding it opens to your texting app. Same thing for Gmail. Obviously its possible to have more than one type of notification, so there would need to be some sort of hierarchy (say Texts > Gmail > Email > WordFeud > Facebook > etc) so that it only opens the most important to you. Users could choose like 3-5 apps that would work with it.
If you have no notifications, then it should default to a single app you use regularly, but does not necessarily have/need notifications (Camera, Google Reader, etc).
Changing the background color of the icon would also be a good way to help differentiate between the default slider, and one that would open a new notification. For example, on the current stock lock screen, the vibrate slider has a gray background. You could keep the gray background for the default app, but when you have a text or email, the icon would change to that app and the background could change to a specified color (say orange for a text, green for an email, etc).
In addition, I wouldn't mind having the weather on the lockscreen as well. Too often do I find myself having to unlock my phone just to check the temperature outside. Obviously the down side to this is having to poll for weather data, but it is something I'd be more than willing to live with. Especially if one could chose how often it updated (30 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours, etc).
I realize most of this can be done with Widgetlocker (or maybe Cyanogen), but honestly I don't like using it and it does not feel polished enough for me. So would something like this have to be baked into a ROM, coded from scratch or whatever? Are there any devs who do this kind of work? is this level of detail even realistically possible given the nature of Android? is this even the right forum?
Just saw the last part, but I think it's still your best bet.
Just curious why don't you like widget locker, it does everything you asked for?

[Q] Multi-Live Wallpaper: Green Background Issue

So I have used Multi-Live Wallpaper on all of my old phones and have never had this issue come up for me until today on the Nexus 4. My first thought was to reach out to the Developer and see if I can get some feedback, so I sent him a tweet on his twitter account. Since its in a completely different language I am not sure if I will get a valid response if I get one at all so I thought I would toss this out to the community.
This app allows you to choose specific images/folders/ or albums for your homescreen backgrounds. There are many options including the option to change the background color which is behind the image of your choosing. So for example if I choose the color red for the background of my 1st homescreen, any gaps in between the 1st homescreen or the others when transitioning between screens will be red. Well for some reason on of my screens has a green background, while I have all of my screens set to other colors. I have messed with all of the settings since I am quite similar with this app, but nothing seems to remove it. If anything I can get it to change to a different homescreen when I mess with the advanced "workaround for some home application" option. Anybody else having this issue and was able to resolve it? Thank you

[Q] Looking for a Nice Weather App/Module for Notfications

Hey all, I'm looking for a weather app or module that will give me either a constant notification (like the google weather card but just needs to be constant) or sits somewhere in the quick settings (like the one integrated in CM12 is exactly what I would like). A lot of the apps I have tried do give the constant notification BUT they also keep an icon in the status bar which I am trying to avoid. A small handful, such as BrightWeather, offer the option to hide it and is the current one I am using so far. So does anyone have any suggestions on this?
I think amber has option for blank notification icon
Yeah it does, the only problem with Amber is that despite setting refresh interval to 3 hrs, I wakes my device a lot more often than that. I think it had woken to do something >15 times/hour. Tried to go through all the settings and not really sure what it was doing, but the battery drain was too significant
