Ok so ive had this acer iconia a500 (stock no root) and one day it borked itself, now i have read every guide on here and tried everything from EUU to Apxflash tool to barbedsector to tdv4 and realized I had a bad nand after getting an error from barbedsector, now most of you know nvidia is forever releasing **** with bad/cold solder joints so, I said what the hell! why not reflow this ****er and give it a try its already trash.
So this is what I did to fix the bad nand, first off take mainboard out of the unit, pop off the cover on the gpu and nand chip off, now wrap everything else in foil except the area I said to pop the can cover off of, preheat your oven to 400 F, once oven is preheated use a baking sheet pan with 4 foil balls to keep MB off the tray. now place your baking sheet pan with MB in the oven and set your timer for 5min exactly (no more than 5min) when timer goes off pull pan out the oven and with a flat head screw driver (or something not plastic) gently press down the gpu, memory and nand chips and then set it off to the side for about 10min or until the whole board is cold, now once cold put it all back together and attempt your recoveries (I myself just turned it on and it booted past the dreaded acer screen instantly (your time may differ)
This should work for most that have had their tablet drop dead out of nowhere, and for the record if the nands were totally bad they would never have passed the testing stage at acer before hitting the shelves which is what led me to believe it was a cold solder prob, thanks NVIDIA I love fixing your ****! ALSO BTW I use this procedure to fix Laptops, Ps3s, Xbox 360s and multiple electronics that have heating issues!
Hope this helps you guys out! if it does hit my thank you button cause not one person replied to my first threat about the tablet being borked!
i´d like to bake the errors away, too
Hello
thanks for your guide, it would be very facinating to solve my problem in a similar way.
in this thread, i described my error incl. two pics.
is one of the errors a similar to yours?
i would like to be sure its really broken hardware before having mainboard-cake on sunday afternoon.
thx for a reply
kreike
i cant believe it, but it worked
i couldn´t wait as it was trash in any other way, as you already explained.
many thanks again and again and once more... for this idea.
after the operation, i had no error flashing, babsector created new partitions without any remarks (see attched pic).
to your guide, i would like to add following / explain how i did it:
- better remove camera from the board
- the area to take away the can is on the lower side after opening
- i pushed - gently as adviced - with the big and of a pencil, just to get resistance
- i put the oven on 210 Celsius, a little more tha adviced,
- the lower side, the left an right part were packed into 2 layers of foil
- make sure, you can insert the sd-card properly again...
worked on my second device, too
I am going to try this this weekend! Might as well since my tablet is already bricked. I've figured the memory chip just got corrupted somehow, but if it's just the solder and a nice toasty bake can fix it, I will be super stoked!
I'll let you know how it turns out next week.
Thank you, finally something that worx!
After having tried, (like many others with me) almost anything i could find on google and forums about the fixing of this A500-headache machine, Finally this one worked for me!!! But after 1 day of full functioning A500 I guess the solder-joint got cold again though, and it stopped functioning again. tried it 2 more times and and now fully functional device again!!! Same as with the older xbox360...Thanx again.
Kinda Worked
I tried this technique and it allowed me to boot into APX, run babsector and get it to pass!! I was so excited. It then actually rebooted into recovery. I then tried to flash A ROM back onto the device, and ended up right where I had started. Stuck on the Android logo.
Tried to run babsector again and it just failed like it used to. I tried baking the MB again, with no luck. Not sure if I should just try it again and again until it does work, or if this MB is just shot.
Photos?
Anyone have any photos of the foiled up motherboard? It would help a lot in knowing what's where. I'm going to try this as soon as I can. Thanks!
I appreciate if you could attach some photos or video. I would like to try this one as soon as i have some pics to teach me how to do it.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you don't mind can you please send me a video or photos that which parts need to be wrap in foil and place in oven? I appreciate if you could send me as soon as possible. I am now frustrated after using all tricks and none of them worked out.
Thanks.
Tried this...sadly didn't work. Tried it again for 10 minutes, again, no luck. I have always liked Acer, but after this, and seeing how many people have this issue, and other issues related to Acer products, you can bet they'll go on my 'do not buy' list.
Glad I only paid $20 for the tablet (had a charging issue that I repaired)
Well, after my bootloader "Blob Update Failed", and no other method of unbricking it, I used this as a last resort.
It worked!!!
For Europeans, set the oven to about 200/205 C. Used a pencil eraser to press down immediately after removing from oven. Not quite sure which exact chips to press down on, so I did all available!
Only bad thing, I broke the rear facing camera (not important anyhow).
it worked for me
I took out my MB to a nearby repair man. he blew heat gun over the NAND chip and it worked!! everything is back to normal without any data loss. thanks a lot
Where is the NAND chip located on the motherboard?

but which is the nand chip ? PHOTO?
Where is the NAND chip?
Bump, where is the NAND chip?
Can someone take a photo or just explain where it is?
I'm having the usual problem, stuck on Acer logo, drivers wont install, no cpuid, update.zip doesn't work (android guy on its back with every ROM i've tried)
And here's a photo of the motherboard
search google for "gorbachev teardowns acer" for the disassembly process with more photos (can't post links yet)
can someone who knows just put a dot on this image where the NAND chip is?
Thank you for your time

Great info...!!!
Thanks a million, darkeskye.
May using a heat-gun would be safer than the oven...
Done it !!!
Hi, just wanted to let everyone know that I fixed my A500 aswell using the NAND reflow.
I had occasional bugs with Civato's Re-Flexx ROM, so decided to start with a fresh install and when i entered the recovery had a fatal breakdown.
After many unsuccessful APX flashes, I decided to try the memory chip and found a fix described on http baheyeldin com.
He describes the same aluminum foil method, but a comment made by "IT-Betreuung" is even better:
"With a soldering iron and a 1 EURO Cent piece it is also possible.
I had no heat gun to hand,so I have been thinking about alternatives and it is even easier without the aluminum foil packaging.
Simply put the Cent on the chip and a small piece of solder on it, then heat the Cent with a "strong" soldering iron, until the solder melted
and further heat for approximately 20 - 30 seconds.
Regards IT-Betreuung"
No foil, no oven, no risk, no mess.
Thanks.
Heating the owen !
hello guys!
:silly: as I said ,.. heating the owen right now. Have made photos ,.. i will upload them later ... wish me luck! ( this is crazy !)
,.. i am thinking now,.. maybe some bread for tommorow morning ?
Hello Everybody,.. finally my owen could not reach sufficient temperature to melt joints ( i have made test with a piece of joint in the owen )
so i ve borrowed a hot air gun,.. IT WORKS!
My beloved a500 works,.. and you know what ? no new rom needed, no partitions formatting ,.. nothing.
Everything works like nothing happened to it
-----
I have used all the information placed on this thread,.. location of the memory chip ,.. ( on the bottom side ) in my case it is samsung 16gb
Take of back camera from the mainboard to protect it. I have protected all the manboard with aluminium ( for the owen ) leaving only and the only memory chip visible ( for the heat gun ) and i have shoot from like 20cm above the board directly on the chip with a small piece of stain on it.
As the piece started to melt and it gets a ball shape,..I have pressed the chip with a knife and i have maintained it pressioned a second or two and took the gun offside ( becarefull as all the mainboard gets very hot )
Firstly I have asembled without camera, without mainboard cans , no mic no nothing only the essentianls.
Now i have to disassemble it one more time and put all together!
truely ,... it was very emotive experience :LOL
it seems that i am not allowed to put images yet...so

Hi,
As my wizard dropped in the water it got completely soaked.
I disassembled it to let it dry, see photos attached, put it together again and presto, almost everything works!!!
Just four keys of the keyboard do not work anymore, and as it all happened a week ago now I do not think this will be fixed.
Does anyone know if they do not work because of the water or because of the impact (the Wizard smashed on the street first)?
Has anybody ever fixed a faulty keypad?
Can anybody tell me where I can get a replacement keypad?
Let me know if you need instructions how to disassemble your wizard.
many thanks!
manhattan.
I have no answer to your question, but it is nice to see the inside of the wizard one time.
A couple of other people were asking about disassembly in other posts - so the instructions would probably be handy.
Hi,
I would love some complete instructions on dissasembly as I am about to take mine apart for painting and a hardware mod.
As far as the keyboard goes, you would be surpised how long they retain water, i doubt its a hardware problem, keyboard are pretty much solid state with only a tiny membrane for contacts. However it is this membrane that is most likely to be your problem, the contacts are very close together and covered in a film that can be verry attractive to water as it has rubber over it. So in essence I am saying I bet it is still wet in there, just a few droplets of condensation would do it.
Options, take it a apart and check and leave in a very warm dry place for a day, or II place whole wizard on a warm heater (not hot) for a while and see if that gets it.
T
Hi,
I also want to know the details of disassembly the wizard.
I think you had better post the instructions o disassembly here as I'm sure there are quite a few people who wuld like to know, me included.
Just a thought by looking at the picture (brave btw!)
Would it be possible to replace the 2,5mm headphone jack by an 3,5mm one and drill out a new hole for the larger connector?
Would be neat if you weren't so dependable on those stupid converters. Not a pretty sight anyway.
Thanks for sharing the photos.
I took mine apart some time ago to fix the stylist problem and when I put it back together some of the keys wouldnt work. The back light wouldnt work either. I found the problem was the little snap that secures the flat cable form the keyboard to the main board. There is a really small clasp that clicks down on the flat cable after you insert it into the connector. Once I took it back apart and snapped it, everything was normal again.
I plan on taking mine apart to change the keyboard form the English/arabic to just English, (anyone know where I can buy the keyboard/keys?) so any instructions you have will be appreciated.
Thanks
The stylii in the picture look like BA stylii.
Do I get 10 points?
will post instructions
OK guys I will put together the instructions and upload them here. I just have absolutely no time now so I hope you can wait a day or two....
Thanks for the comments. I am aware of the little lock that secures the mini flatcable that connects the keypad to the motherboard. I assume that is not the problem as I snapped it securely back in place.
I will try the heater suggestion, I suppose you mean to put the wizard in an oven set at let's say 50 degrees celsius?
The styluses in the photo are from my Qtek 2020. As the Wizard smashed I lost its stylus.... :-(
Sorry the photos do not show the display half of the wizard disassembled... I realised too late that others would benefit from pictures...
Cheers
Manhattan
I dont think I would put it in an oven. I would think that just inside a vehicle sitting in direct sunlight for a few hours would probably do, unless you are in a really cold climate. You may also try some electrical contact cleaner then get some additional heat to it after it evaportates. There is probably something that has trapped some moisture somewhere. Just for info, I dropped my Jamin the other night about 4 feet directly onto a tile floor. It bounced a couple times, ejected the SD card, and reset. But it is working fine. However, I had a bud that dropped his 2 day old Sony Ericsson P900 into water and dried it off immediatly and let it air dry. It worked, but he had problems ever since. It would drop calls and restart all the time. So there may not be a complete fix for it.
Good luck
Hey guys, someone posted the HTC Service manual for the Wizard!
In this manual you see pictures how to disassemble the phone!
It's realy the best manual to use for opening your mobile friend....
Good Luck

I've successfully fixed my girlfriends crappy creative keyboard once after water damage using a pencil. Depending how the keyboard is made, most of the time there will be really thin conductive tracks literally printed on the substrate. The water isn't particularly nice to these tracks and I found that in some parts there was noticale oxidation/corrosion. By very lightly scratching of the affeted paint and then going over it with a graphite pencil this did the trick.
Just an idea, personally I probably wouldn't do it to my vario but then again I'm still in the honeymoon phase with it.
Good luck
I fix phones for a living for many stores and have many phones that have water damage
what you dont do is charge it.. it will burn out the board
what you do is let it dry out, use the service manual and let it dry out in parts
then get white spirit and a toothbrush... dip it in and clean the contacts for yourk eys
once done, again let it try and then see how it goes. thats what i do, although we have a machine that sends out sonic pulses but the above method works too especially when im lazy

I have a O2 xda model
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.21
GSM 01.12.10
OS 1.5.4.2
there is problem in formating the phone.
Even after a hard reset the Os wont boot,
it says that "formating is failed".
there is a prolem in the flash memory of the phone.
please help me with the assembly and disassembly process so that i can fix it.
Any one?
Hey Guys,
Well, I'm a bit gutted really! I dropped my XDA Mini S on the floor with the charger in and the connector IN the phone has come apart from inside the phone. The little metal bit is practically hanging out. I'm wondering, if i were to take the phone apart could i re-connect the little part? (I have a soldering iron if thats as simple as its going to be?)
Just wondering if anyone had any guides on how to take the phone apart and take a look at whats wrong?
Any help would be so much appreciated!
Many Thanks,
Tom
The service manual is hosted on the ftp site.

Hope this helps.
I suspect you probably broke the socket off, but if you have a soldering iron, you might as well try to get a new mini USB connector to work with.
You might try Pocket PC Techs:
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~UTStarcom_XV6700-554~area~repairs~item~REP-USBCON01~name~UTStarcom+XV6700+Mini+USB+Connector+Replacement+Service.htm
I rang them up about an issue I had (screen on the fritz) and they seemed pretty knowledgeable and helpful.
Alternatively there's a company I found today in the UK. I can't vouch if they're good or not.
http://www.xdarepairs.co.uk/home.asp
Good luck.
Well I also have an issue with my wizzard... the mini jack connector (of the handsfree) is a bit loose.
What I am saying is that it does have a good connection with the rest of the circuit and sometimes the sound of the speaker goes off, then I have to insert the habdsfree and tickle it a little bit until it has a good contact.
? have some basic soldering experience,do you think I should give it a try?
Given my device has been apart too many times for me to admit to I thought I'd crack it open to take a pic for you guys. Not sure if this pic will help for those wanting to do some soldering:
Very large pic: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/216/452691530_f47801708f_o.jpg
Excuse the dust.
Ah! That picture at the bottom is exactly what I needed. The metal but at the bottom (the big sqaure) has totally sheared off....bloody thing. Thanks so much for the info on the repair guides. I may give those repair guys a call if i can't get it to work myself.
Thanks alot you guys
As for you WizeMan, it all depends on if you wish to void your warrenty or not. At the end of the day, I installed WM6 on my device so O2 would give me the finger if i tryed to claim. If I'm honest, I'm getting an upgrade next month so I'm not to bothered if I balls it up! Would be nice if I got it working though....

Let me tell you my news, my friends.
I opened my Qtek 9100 and fixed two serious issues regarding this phone, using... sponge (the one we use to wash the dishes)
1. I put some into the stylus socket (from the thin space it has) and also
2. On the top of the mini jack socket so when i assembled the housing it blocked it from moving (2 of the contacts are no more soldered and i dint have a soldering iron at that time)
Anyway, both operation went ok and my phone is more than fully functioning. Now the stylus is hardly (in a good way) comming out (it first gets longer then comes out).
I wanted to do also the safe singal fix, but didnt find the photos to apply it correclty, so if someone has them, please give link. If you need any info about the "Sponge" Hacks, just post or pm

I'm still trying to get the a new fascia and will probably shove an eraser bit into the stylus spring mechanism to ensure the defect never happens. Also how did you discover the break in the solder joints on the headphones jack? I have a funny situation where the left channel of the headphones doesn't work but I suspected the headphones (the plug has to be pulled at an angle to get any sound out of the left) but now I am thinking it may be the socket itself.
By the way the reception fix pic doesn't load for me either but I unless you truly need it, don't waste your time doing it; I always have all 4 bars and sometimes have 2 bars.

Allright here is the deal.
1. I found out the break in the soldier joints when i opened it. I was really suspicious about it because when i inserted my headphone jack into the connector, i had problem with the contact; the connector was loose and it muted my phones speaker. When i disassembled the phone using the service manual i saw with my eyes that the the joins where f-ed up.
2. I dont really need the signal hack i just wanted to experiment, i have 2.25.11 cingular radio rom and its great.
Btw i suppose you should better use the sponge, because the rubber may wear off but not the sponge...
Thanks for the tip on the sponge. I am going to grab a used but allegedly "like new" body from eBay and also get one of those covers as well.
Hello everyone! I have problem with my phone because sometimes is turning off without any reason, I bought brand new battery and is still same when is switched off and I want to put it back on i must take off battery for couple of minutes, then put battery back and then switch on anybody know whats happened?? And how to fix it!!
It's the most standard problem with htc models touch and elf...
This problem is hardware based! in this condition there are only 2 things you can do:
1.send the device to a htc service center and get the motherboard changed for $300+ if you are out of warranty.
2.Or open the mobile and put a piece of thin plastic in between the omap prosessor chip and the steel piece tha goes over it and then put the second cover on top in order to apply pressure to it because the solder pins that are in between the cpu and the mobo are not connecting properly and lose contact so the phone goes off or freezes then goes off and some times stays off. Make sure that there is enough but not to much pressure applied to it! it worked for mine but i did it because it was out of warranty... its a temporary fix but if you are gentile to it after it will surely work for a few more months...
IF YOU HAVE NEVER DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE OR YOUR TOUCH/ELF IS STILL IN WARRANTY DO NOT TRY IT!
I will post a pic that i took when i did mine if anyone is interested... Let me know...
Thanks for reply!
Uff.... first way to fix it is a little bit too expensive! And 2 way to do it seems quite easy, so i try to do it this way Could you add any picture of this and just tell me how to open this phone?
Many thanks!
@Firestarter42
Thanks man!!!!
did what you said, the plastic trik, and the phone is back to life (it was totally dead and didn't charge) you save a life today!!!
I had the same problem untill one day when he didn`t want to turn on and now i do not know what to do with it how to make it work again
Dear Sir,
I have just tried method 2.
My elf didnt have a metal cover on the processor, lol... got it used from someone... or should I say abused? lol
anyway, I hope it works. will update...
here's a link for the demonstrated tutorial:

Thanks a lot again.
I haved the same problem.....and i realize after many times that I didn't change my ipl and uspl!!!so my cocked rom frequentely turn off my device!!!now it's all right!!!!!!!
i had the same problm too....
it kept turning off and just a few weeks ago it would never turn on...
i did try that trick of keeping the plastic thingy on the omap processor ... it worked for a few weeks max after tht it happened as above
finally took my phone to htc.. told them it was gift and i dont have the invoice... actually purchased frm ebay for 150$ .....
they checked it was in warranty,.. they replaced the board... hurray... my elfin is alive again.. and in wm6.1
hope htc fixes this crap issue as many face this problem
My HTC elf was freezing, rbooting and so on, i was thinking that it was a windows/flash/third party programs problems ....
BUT I confirm that the method "open the mobile and put a piece of thin plastic in between the omap prosessor chip and the steel piece tha goes over it"
brings my htc elf to life again ... stable !
(i've done it with a metal piece and not plastic.)
Thanks for the advice !!!!
my elf was freezing and turning off so i try this 2. method and it works, and elf is much faster then before in my case...
I've never had this problem before but this week my phone switched itself off (so had to boot up again) a couple of times. I did try a new custom rom but I've also been using a different charger (USB mains adaptor) and a replacement battery (this seems to be a poor replacement battery which seems to make up the battery level.
So I don't know what was causing it. For some reason, removing the SD card and re-inserting it seems to have done the trick for now but I'll keep watching it.
Hi guys
My phone is, usually at night when there is no use, switching the screen off, the earphone green indicator flashes but the phone will not turn on when I press the power button, I have to do a soft reset each time to get it back on again (even though it appears to be on with the flashing green light). I cannot get calls or text and my alarm fails to sound. Have overslept a few times now!. Also, its battery has gone for a ball of ^&*%. Will this trick help? Thanks a lot!
Turn off as in literally 'poof!' or, it will restart?
The only way to get it to restart is to do a soft reset, or remove and replace the battery. The phone's green light will flash but there is no way to the screen to activate or use the phone - make calls, use the alarm, receive etc. The screen stays black, no use trying the power button either...

Thankx your solutions worked out with my HTC Touch and i get replaced omap processor
power problem on Elf (not the usual)
hello guys, i have an Elf T-mobile that someone "lost" i found it, but was bricked...i unbricked following the awesome guides on the forum and installed on it the original italian rom (obviously am not german)
but...here's the problem, when i press the power button (should get it into stand by mode like every pda does) or also when goes on stand by itself, just shuts down !!!
then the pda auto soft resets, until the end...doesn't have the "auto power off problem" like i readed on the forums...however it tried but didn't solve the problem
i think is a problem with the radio, or the IPL or SPL (i tried 1.11.0002 IPL and 1.11.000 SPL...then 2.2x.xxxx IPL and SPL...now i tried 3.14.0002 IPL and 3.14.0000 SPL, also tried different radios...
but the problem remains...
EDIT: Problem solved, changed the little battery in the motherborad, it worked for me

I'm presuming you mean for option 2, as 1 is quite obvious
Anyways, I haven't done this, but I am posting my best guess (untried, untested, just a theory).
Open your phone up and completely dissamble as described here. Completely strip it down so you only have your mainboard. Clearly take all the necessary precautions before hand (backup, etc etc.)
When done, you will see there are blank shields above where the chips will be, if you look, you can see little dimples, you can ease these off here. This will get you into where the omap processor is. You can then put the plastic on top, and make sure it is done as described. Should literally be a case of putting it all together and hoping for the best after that. I will have a look at some point (can't promise when) and see if I can take some photos of where this will go etc.
An alternative would be to try and reflow the joints of solder with a heat gun... very dangerous considering how tight the components are packed in, and overkill.

thanks man but i guess am so dumb that am not getting where is this processor located anyways currently my phone is working fine but in few days I'll get the tools & open it...let see than
if you can arrange any pic of processor(where we have to fit plastic) it will be extremely helpful...
anyways thanks for helping

where to get small battery on mother board
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone who is still active here has ever tried (succsessfully or not) to upgrade tha RAM on the Magcian from 64MB (default) to 128MB (like Qtek S110)?
Right now I am still thinking of dooing that but it seems hard to find ways to do this as the device is way to old now.
Any Links? Oppinions? Ressources? I di d manage to find an old thread about this but not many details on how to do this were given...
Thanks for sharing
EDIT: found some supply of these Chips on ebay...there is still more. This quick idea is starting to get interesting :-D
I've tried and tbh it was a nightmare... i ended up by braking that magician. Lucky me, that i have a 2nd one.
It's not as simple as having a hot air station - you will need some magnifying lens; a thin hot air tip; and ALOT of skills...
Problems that i've run into:
- after desoldering the flash rom, there were some solder residues left where the flash was placed...i didn't removed them...i simply melted them so to make them more round - BIG MISTAKE - the two new flash roms already had solder, and when i tried to solder them (which required me to press them down with some tweezers so to get "glued to the pcb"), the solder residues + the solder that was already on the ic melted and started to come out from the sides. Worse - the solder under the flash rom, got all glued, shunting all the "ball pins" ! cleaning it was really, really hard but i did managed...! Do note that my ideia was that "since it's easier to force the flash ic pins (BGA balls) to align better when there's already solder on the pads, i'll leave the solder residues", which ended up to be a big mistake.
- Due to heating up that area (at 400ºC) where the flash ic's where for around 30 secs each time that i removed, cleaned, replaced (due to what happened above), some other pieces started tofall down on the other side of the pcb (like the small dip-switch and the jack ear connector) and it was a pain in the *** to solder them back without making anything to fall down again on the flash IC's side.
- There's one PCB spot where a resistor is missing and which you have to shunt the pads so to make the 128Mb work. Let me tell you that i do have a small tip, but i wasn't prepared to shunt those two pins (of the missing resistor) in such a small space - What happened was that while i kept trying, the solder kept gluing to the nearby resistors and after messing around for quite some time, so to keep the solder shunting those two resistor pads (they are in between two resistors), one of the nearby resistor moved from place and later on, ended up by burning due to a 2h of messing around in that area.
Those are the ones that i remember...
My advice - forget it - it's TOO hard, TOO small and requires you to have a really steady hand + some great magnifier lens + good hot air station with a small tip + a good iron with a really small tip (needle sized) + luck.
side note: just so that you don't think that i'm a complete noob - i've been doing quite a few HW repairs at work...so trust me when i say that this is really hard.
Thanks a lot for your information!
What you just wrote is basicly, what my friend (who are bit mor experienced in such things) are saying. Too bad... I still have at least one spare magician (not working) in addition to the working one with cotullas ROM.
Does anybode know a link to a company that is doing such upgrades (prefferably for less than a hundred bucks...) or is someone willing to sell his 128MB device?
You can try on polish Allegro.
recently I found there Qtek S110 for 40 euros

Yeah, Magician with 128 RAM (with french os) is about 25-30 euro on allegro!
Well to make the story short, I took out an old lcd screen protector that left glue residues on my Shift's screen... Tried my best to take it out but it simply didn't want to come off...
Searched the web and in a bit of a panic mode tried everything, from antiseptic alcohol to toothpaste, and finally vinegar... The glue partially came out, but a mixture of all these substances got inside my screen and little by little consumed its light like a candle
But the good news after some silly self reflections was to find a replacement part and so I did.. ($90 including shipping and required tools from a eBay Chinese supplier) and just today I got the package, so I'm ready to rock..
To avoid screwing up again, I've managed to get my hands on the original service manual for this device and will follow step by step the indicated dissamble procedure..
So bare with me while I find myself a complete day to work on this project, while updating the status and answering any questions you may have (if you are in the same mess as I am right now).. I just hope the damage is just on the lcd screen, it would be terrible to realize once inside I require other parts (I would think not, since the device is working fine except for the screen, even the touch function still works!)
Did you broke your screen or simply there is glue on it ?
