Use this to update the recovery then reboot, enter again in bootmenu -> recovery and flash what you want.

Thanks, but how exactly can I update the Clockworkmod recovery with that file? It's not a update.zip and not a app either.

Install as you instal a Rom in CWM recovery.
Note: the recovery will change to TWRP.

Need help with CWM

Hi I just flashed CWM on my Indian Idea Blade using Rom Manager. It flashed successfully but when i boot into recovery it shows just 4 options - reboot, install update.zip, wipe data & wipe cache.
Where are the other options ?
Rom manager says the recovery version is 5.0.2.0 which i believe is the latest one.
Anyone has a clue why the options are missing ?

The recovery you see is the stock one. Download recovery manager app from modaco after rooting and install the recovery after updating the app.

You should manually install CWM.
As described in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
Install ES explorer/Filexpert and Remount apps.
Go the paragraph "Installing ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4 on your U8800" and follow the steps.
Enjoy
Rom manager doesn't see u8800 on some roms.

*flash a stock rom
*wipe ur ext partition if u have it (using link2sd)
*then flash Hiperion
oh, it's you again u made it.
*flash with stock rom using Odin
*flash with CWM that Hyperion (read the instruction carefully on the Hyperion Thread)
goodluck
Did all of that before you guys said, still gives me a bootloop, do I need to root my phone? But, when I root it I can't mount /system or /data or the other one

Still nothing :l
STEPS TO FLASH HYPERION (worked for me 100%)
- Flash stock rom via odin
- Reboot and go to CWM
- Clear Data/Reset and Cache
- Mount System/Sdcard/Data/Cache, (Sometimes Data/Cache can't be mounted it is OKAY)
- Flash Hyperion
- DO NOT REBOOT YET
- Go to Advanced
- Boot to Recovery
- Clear Data
- Clear Cache
- Reboot
Try it

Make sure you're in a stock kernel first.
@boncey
Try the instruction provided by jeannuel's
Its working....good

Sorry, it's just that some tutorials are not complete at all.
To my understanding is that the device will recover the original recovery every reboot

I'm pretty sure TWRP has an option to keep it. I'm using cwm and I can reboot fine. Its when flashing new firmware it will replace your custom recovery. CWM asks if you would like to disable recovery flash and selecting Yes let's you keep your custom recovery!

the missing line in the script from your post was this
fastboot.exe boot cwm.img
edit: i haven't tried twrp yet
edit2: works for twrp too but don't need that line if coming from custom recovery already

because it is a temporary cwm so you should flash it again and again for use

There are two types of cwm
Temporary - for users of stock kernel or custom kernel that uses stock recovery
Permanent - cwm is built into the custom kernel & replaces stock recovery
if you want a permanent cwm flash a kernel with permanent cwm (see the kernel features in it's thread)

there has been a permanent cwm for galaxy y for years!!
there are two types of cwm
1 - tempory cwm zip
flash this in stock recovery to get to cwm - needs to be flashed each time you want to enter cwm
2 - permanent cwm
flash a custom kernel with cwm built in - this replaces stock recovery
If you want a permanent cwm just flash a kernel that has cwm built it!

thats exactly what i meant! the first option is hardly permanent, especially if you accidentally delete the .zip.
and what if someone doesn't want to flash kernels?
other phones have a .zip that you flash once and have cwm permanently. that's what i meant by a permanent cwm!

Then get another phone that has that function.
Remember, our phones are not godly, not everything-can-do phones. They are only bottom-range phones. Hardware and software limitations cause this issue. If you want to fix it, do it yourself.
But if you want to contradict yourself and say "I wanna stick to my little Y" then flash a kernel.
Which is essentially in a zip.
And then you get permanent CWM.
Problem solved.

other phones work in a different way - for example HTC phones have fastboot and a recovery totally different from a samsung galaxy y 5360
the only way in this phone to replace the recovery perminantly is to flash a kernel that has it
