Push pictures / music and movies to pc - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK I'm sure I read somewhere how to do this on my night shifts but now cannot find anything.
All I am trying to do is put a DLNA service onto my pc to allow me to show pictures etc from the phone to the PC
All I can find on the web is how to access my PC media from my phone.

It's quite straight forward. Make sure both the phone and computer are connected to the same wifi network. Open windows media player on your computer and under the streaming tab there should be a setting allowing 'devices to connect via the Internet' something along those lines, sorry I'm not in front of my computer. Now on the phone when you view a picture or play a video using the stock apps there should be a wifi-ish icon, tap that and it'll transfer to the windows media player. Should be available in the music player app too but I haven't tried that.
Sorry I think I've explained that pretty badly lol. But try it and if you get stuck I'll help you out later when I get home from work.

I have an option to allow internet access to media but I want to play mobile media on the computer not the other way around.
All the options on the streaming tab are to allow the media on the computer to be accessed externally or streamed to a device on the network.
I am trying to treat my PC like a DLNA tv and play the media from my phone onto the PC.
Here is what I see if this helps

Yep, I know what you're asking for. I've just retraced my own steps so here it is: Make sure the computer and phone are on the same network. On your windows media player click 'stream' and choose 'allow remote control of my player'. Now play a video on your phone and click that icon on the top left corner. It should bring up any devices around on the same network that are capable of receiving the stream, your PC / windows media player among them. Select it and it should start streaming.
Once it's playing on the PC you can change the volume and skip scenes from the phone as well as the PC. Also as a bonus you can press the home button and use your phone as normal with the video still playing on your PC.
Let me know how you get on...
Edit: This should be the same for pictures as well as music using the stock apps. They all play in windows media player.

I tried that last night. My phone can see my 2 sonos players for music and nothing for videos. I didn't try pictures. I'll have another look when I get up. Can I just check, my pc being wired not wifi shouldn't effect this.

No it shouldn't, as long as they're both on the same network. Keep trying and it should work. I remember when I had to set it up a few months ago, it took me a few tries before it finally worked.
Just to make sure...you are leaving the windows media player running right?

Tried again linked my windows live id but nothing, I'm not completely sure my options are the same as yours. I do not have the exact wording "allow remote control of my player"

You do have that option, it's in the first pic you posted. Click stream and it's the second option 'allow remote control of my player'.
You shouldn't have to link your live Id or anything. When the phone does the scan it'll show whatever your computer is named. Only if the windows media player is running on your pc at the time.

HMMMM kind of working now ta.
Was sure I had tried that option but obviously not.
Bizarrely the phone now sees my TV as as well.
Only managed to push pictures so far but most other things are on the network anyway.
Cheers for that

[Workaround] Have Media Panel recognize synced Playlists

I don't know how the majority of you sync music to your X1s, but I've been using Windows Media Player (Desktop version) to sync all of my previous HTC phones, and figured that it would be the best way to sync my new X1 too. The issue is, as I'm sure most of you have found, that Windows Medial Player syncs playlists to the phone in .asx format, which happens to be unreadable for the media panel.
This is pretty unacceptable... (Please let me know if the newer media panel fixes this issue). So I've come up with two workarounds for you guys to choose from. The first is involves a program called "Playlist Editor". The second involves using the pay app, "CorePlayer".
Playlist Editor is a simple playlist manager for use on our devices, it allows you to save your non-compatible asx playlists in a multitude of compatible formats. Download it here
Just navigate to your playlist (even though there isn't any text that shows up, use the left softkey to go up a directory) and then goto the "Save As" menu from the program.

CorePlayer as most of you know is a robust media player, with the added feature of being able to re-save a playlist in an alternative format. Navigating it is a bit more complicated however, but it doesn't balk at any of my playlists like Playlist Editor has for a few. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Goto File>>Open>> Navigate to your playlist
Step 2: Goto Database view, and navigate to the virtual folder containing your playlist
Step 3: Click the Database softkey, and click Store As Playlist
BTW, please post if you have a more automatic solution.

As long as I know, the new MXP panel can handle desktop playlists
So with this program it's finally possible to creat playlists on the computer for the xperia media panel
@getrab
It can, but it's buggy. Some playlists are always shown as empty, I don't know why.

Work around/fix for Brighthouse Live TV streaming app [rooted BHN cable subscribers]

To all Brighthouse Network subscribers, a work around has been found to get the BHN app to work on our rooted Transformers. (* This may also work for other tablets and other cable providers apps.*) For anybody who's wondering what I'm talking about, Brighthouse Networks blocked access to their Live TV streaming app for rooted users, even if you're signed in and on your home network. Well the people who are TWC subscribers are seeing the same thing with their Live TV streaming app on rooted devices, but were able to find a fix that works for our BHN app also. Follow the link, follow the step by step instructions and give the guys thanks if it works for you. I'm posting this because I see there were a lot of Brighthouse users who were leaving comments in the Play Store, that this app wasn't working on their Transformers. I'm running EOS JellyBean build #55 and can confirm that its working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29472657&postcount=376 and running great.
P.S...You will also have to disable USB Debugging before you can start watching your shows, but you will be prompted on when to do it.
To anyone who already checked the link out, I'm sorry, as I thought the link was going to the step by step post. Anyway, it has been updated to go to the correct location. Check it out so you can start watching the Olympics on your tab. :good:

Revised:
Download file explorer from Play-store, go into settings, select show hidden files,go back
scroll down to bottom of main menu uncovering root options, select root settings,
check root explorer first option. Give it a second for warning to pop up, then select root up and then
mount file system.
Go to system apps, then long press superuser.apk change to su.apk save or hit back arrow it will ask
you to save. Get out of app folder, back to system folder at the bottom is the build.prop long press the file, up at the top
hit open as, select text option, open with ES note editor, go down to ro.build.tags="buildtype" delete everything after
= leave it blank, exit/save , turn off usb debugging in settings developer option ,REBOOT , then reload app. I am using EOS JZO54K Nightly 81 with stock kernel 2.6.39.4-Eos3
this by far streams the broadcasts the best, I have tried many kernel and roms and by far this works the best for me. TF101B90 16G.
Don't forget to hit thanks if this helped.
OLD:
Renamed superuser.apk to su.apk.
Uninstalled the twc app.
Changed the build.prop test-keys setting to blank.
Turn off debugging in settings > developer options.
Reboot.
Reinstalled the twc app.
This works perfect for me on my nexus 7, stock-rooted. Thanks!!!!
Here is a link to the apk already working on rooted devices. Have on EOS4 tf101 and my LGOG.

How to mirror your Android screen with nexus player?

I tried the cast function on the phone (Nexus 5) but somehow it can not find any device.
But using the Youtube app casting is working.
Can it work like the chromecast?

With my stock nexus 7 (KK 4.4.4) and wireless display enabled in display settings the screen mirroring works just fine. You have to be on the same wifi network as the nexus player of course then an option will show up in the right corner pull down menu to cast the screen to the player. If it still cant detect it then I am not sure what the problem is, you can try restarting both devices.
I can mirror my nvidia shield tablet on the nexus player with no problem. There is a sec delay but it works quite well, even the sound works. I'm running 5.0 on both devices.
I finally get it working with using the Nexus 5 as AP and let Nexus Player to connect the WIFI hotspot.
So far I can't figure this out, and I'm on the understanding that this can do everything the chromecast can. I use the screen mirror quite a bit!

Guys, I just want to share a tool app, that you need to enhance the mirror feature, that you are trying to establish with your Nexus TV Player.
Follow the link below and scroll down to two post with the above black Android icon on the folder photo, there you will find the tool app and instructions for mirroring and Google casting. Also check out the post with the above top photo, enjoy.

N7 casts from settings and notification menus. For my G2 I had to use the standard Play Store Chromecast app instead
I just got a Nexus Player today and when I tried casting my phone's screen to it, my phone kept saying "no devices found. I turned the Player off, then on, and then my phone found out right away. Just thought I'd mention what worked for me

No Media Volume After Disconnecting From Bluetooth Speaker

Hey Guys,
I've been having a strange issue with my Turbo 2 recently where I won't get any media volume from the speakers. It seems to happen after disconnecting from a car stereo while playing an audio-book. Turning bluetooth off makes no difference, nor does closing the apps from the multi-task menu (if that's even what it does) or closing the apps in the top left pull-down. Rebooting the phone will cause media volume to work from the handset again. Has anyone had a similar issue? I'd really like to not have to reformat it again if possible.
This is the stock rom running 5.1.1, un-rooted with the following apps installed:
Amazon

So it's like stuck routing audio to bt even is turned off instead to speaker?
disable bluetooth media playback on the bluetooth options of the device.
That is what appears to be happening, though I have no way to confirm it.

I'm not seeing a setting for that unless you're saying inside the menu for each paired device?
Just tested with headphones, after disconnecting, music player plays on speaker. Try to clear cache from recovery.

That will remove audio when device (car) is connected. Pretty sure is not acceptable solution. I was using Turbo 2 in car for music streaming, navigation, calls and didn't have any problems after disconnecting. After a while Moto figured out that particular bt device is related to driving and automatically recognize driving without gps on.
Thanks for all of the replies! Yeah, that screen looks like my screen for individual paired devices which I would rather not deselect and select every time I enter and leave the car. I did go ahead and wipe the cache partition, so far it appears to be working, though that is always the case upon a reboot. I'll post again if it happens after disconnecting.

[No Root or Sideloading] Stream Kodi From Computer to Fire TV

I love XBMC/Kodi, but I have always had small issues/bugs with the android version, not to mention I have all of my media on an internal drive in my computer, so getting it from my computer to my Fire TV is a hassle (making a server, using SQL, etc.) I've had to settle on Plex, which is great, but I just like the XBMC interface a lot more. Now I have come up with a pretty clever idea to solve my problems. What if I stream Kodi on my computer to my Fire TV? And it works perfectly. It's not for everyone, and you're going to need a decent enough computer to do this, but for me it is perfect.
REQUIREMENTS:
PC:Nvidia Graphics CardNvidia GeForce ExperienceKodi, any version should workFire TV:Moonlight
Open up GeForce Experience on your PC.
Go to the "Preferences" tab.
Click on "SHIELD."
Make sure "Allow this PC to stream to SHIELD devices" is checked.
Click the plus sign on the right hand side.
Navigate to where you have Kodi installed ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\Kodi.exe" or similar).
{

}
Now head over to your Fire TV, launch moonlight, connect to your PC. You will need to enter a PIN number that displays on your PC on your first launch.
Click on Kodi and boom you're in. It's fully navigable with the Xbox controller, and probably most other controllers you've got.
So you're essentially steaming what's on your computer screen, not the video file itself, yes? This could be useful for content only available on your computer or where there's no android app.

Yessir, nothing is transcoded, just streamed straight from your computer to TV. You could have your HTPC down in some corner of your basement, and stream it to the much more aesthetically pleasing Fire TV upstairs. Also you're very right you could also use this to stream something DRM-protected and not available on Android (read: iTunes) to your Fire TV as well!
Thats pretty cool! But I've never had any real problems with kodi on fire tv and been using 3 of them for nearly 2 years now. No issues with MySQL, all boxes sync up fine from the server running on a macbook. I mainly stream local from a pretty affordable 4 tb WDMyCloud. I guess if I owned a high end HTPC I might be more interested.
Or just use Plex? ?
