The CyanogenMod team just posted the ROM's source code for the Galaxy Note 3 (you can check on Google, I can't insert a link).
Does it help us?
Maybe someone can port it to our device?

I saw the post too. But it's have nothing to do with CM... It's just the original stock build.
I thought it helped to have access to the source to make your own build of CM.

It's says to gather any existing source code on the CM wiki on "How To Port CyanogenMod Android To Your Own Device".
I'm no Dev but samsung code is where I would start if I wanted to port something new.

Ahhhhh i can't wait for a vanilla ROM!
Please, developers!
I'm pretty sure I am not going to to need the source for the stock version for the Note 3, I am going to need to find the P-600's source though. I am going to get started this weekend.

My P600 just broke this morning (dropped it on accident and broke screen, went into bootloop after trying to boot into recovery) so I am not going able to test it. I have been studying the CM source for the note 3, original note 10.1 wifi, note 8 wifi, and the Note 10.1 2014 stock source the last couple weeks and should be able to try and throw something together but have no idea if I will be able to get it working since I can't test it.

Bummer, sorry to hear about the loss! I can help test, though you'll want more than one, any other takers? I live like 10 min from you (Foxboro), so we could always attempt a coffee house meet up/test/troubleshoot session.

I'm basically at the point where I have source from 3 different ROMs open and I am trying to see what changes were made between each one to port CM to each device already. I should have some actual working (though not finished) in about a week or so if my schedule allows for it. This is my first ROM so it is pretty much just a learning process. I go to school and work full time so most of the work is done in the VERY limited free time I actually have. If I get anything I feel comfortable enough that it won't brick your device, I will let you know.

Are the kernel sources available? I searched for a few minutes but haven't found anything.
Anyone know offhand how many custom binary-only drivers are baked in?

I didnt notice any vibrant kernel thread so I figured I'd start one.

I've had an iPhone since about three months ago (because they were the only phones readily available to be bought used and without a contract), but have always kept up with Android. It doesn't seem like innovation stopped. What are we missing now? Cyanogenmod seems to be packed with innovative features, so does AOKP.
BTW, great signature.

I don't think any iPhone is in the works for omni at the moment
I felt what was missing was a team to implement ideas that have never been imagined by the average person, or have been thought of as to be "too difficult" to implement.
I feel this rom, and the team behind it, is the answer to this problem, which should open doors up in other teams, including cyanogenmod
And thanks

It WOULD be a feat to crack the iPhone's bootloader past the iPhone 3G and get Android booting on there, wouldn't it..?
So, the OmniROM will not just be another copy of another custom ROM? Now that it's being mentioned, I do feel like a lot of them just have the same features.Maybe that's why I'm not fully satisfied when I habitually flash new ROMS.

I work with someone who builds for the iPhone. I might get them to add omni support for it.
Omni is based on aosp (the stock source from google). From their patches are added to support an array of devices. Then new features are added. Seeing as it's a fairly new project (only been around 2 months), there aren't a lot of new features, however there are a few ones to note
They are adding true multi window support
The quick settings tiles are flipable
There see, so to be a new app called "OmniGears". I'm unsure about what exactly this will do, but it seems to contain rom specific settings
I hope this is enough to convince you this won't be a "copy of another rom"

im also very interested as to which phones will be supported...but not only that but how easy will it be to get your device supported...im over in Asia and there aren't variants that aren't well supported by the major custom rom developers like AOKP, CM, Panandroid....which makes it really hard and sucks to get in on the "open source" goodness...i hope Omni is easy to bring to a large selection of phones...
EDIT: ok, well that makes sense the vanilla versions...just hope its easier to get more on board...

Asian phones implying mediatek based? There are a few commits in Gerrit to add support for them, but I think it's still not usable. They'll do their best
As for not being supported. Unfortunately it's down to getting a device maintainer. There will be guides posted no doubt, and this is xda. Basically a massive manual on hacking android

If you can get AOSP to run on your device, you should be able to get Omni to run. Currently, a device tree needs nothing significant beyond an AOSP tree (I think about 3 lines of changes to make an AOSP tree work in Omni). This means work on porting Omni is helpful to those wanting AOSP as well.

Unfortunately the amount of carrier interference on many US phones makes them less fun for anyone wanting custom ROMs If you can get the SIM-free international model, that often helps, but that's obviously not possible with Verizon...

Hello, I spent the past couple of days trying to compile Slim ROM for the OnePlus One and I finally succeeded yesterday. I do not have the phone yet, so I'd like someone to test it prior to creating a development thread.
Download ROM
MD5 Checksum: 62b87e6a42045e51f707031ebbf624d5
All credits for the ROM go to the Slim team for their hard work on development. I simply spent a few hours adding OnePlus One specific stuff and fixing some issues that popped up along the way. For more info about the rom, check out their website: http://www.slimroms.net/
Thanks in advance for anyone that tests, and let me know how it goes.
PS: Only flash if you know what you are doing and understand the risks. If your phone disintegrates, explodes, or turns into a dolphin, it's not my fault.

really interesting, you should be really a good dev if you made it to boot on a device without sources..or at least have some leaked source
Sounds great, really appreciate this work. Is there a chance we can have a nice detailed OP when it is ready (i.e. What's Working/Not Working or at least Known Bugs, Changelog, download links, install instructions etc.)? I've come to the RN2 from an S4 and the JDC Team were exemplary when it came to that (see here for an example), it makes it easier to see everything at a glance rather than searching through the thread. The thread about Bule's build (over here) is a bit of a mess...

I'm a developer and I'm building Cyanogenmod 12.1 for the Redmi Note 2 and FYI I compiled this myself . I'm not that kind of people that repack roms. I'm currently busy at the moment but I will try my best to release it on Thursday. I already have a successful build and everything looks quite good. I just need a add a few more tweaks before I release. Hope you guys are interested and I will make a post in the development dection as soon as I get pass the ten posts threshold.

Hope you plan to open source it. I am using bule's and its very good but it has slight lag issues and its not open source so no one can try to fix issues except him.
Wow!!!
Wow, I just ordered Redmi Note 2 for an incredible low price. And now I see that there is a real chance to get CM 12.1 ... my day is getting better and better.
Thank you very much!!!

I will definitely open source my work since I'm also using some open source repositories on Github. I will include the link in my post when I release the rom.

Where did you order it from? I wanna order one myself and I'm trying to figure out the best options.

I got mine from the Gearbest EU Warehouse, delivered to the UK in 4 working days for £120 if that helps
Go for it, man !
I would rather wait for your ROM than wait for Xiaomi's ROM.
i just hope you don't simply fork nofearnohappy cm12's repo , build it without any changes and make it like it is yours

Where is this repo? I thought nothing was released by the current devs.
Is there anything you plan to add to your build to set it apart from Bule's? I've been running his for a couple of days (12.1-20151211, not the one with additional stuff on NeedRom), and it's been virtually flawless. Apart from having to flash GApps separately, it has left little to be desired.
