[Q] Turn on charging LED in AOKP - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
actually this is a general aokp question but I don't know where such questions are posted. Since I installed aokp on my Nexus 4, I'm posting it here in the Nexus 4 board. A week ago I installed a new aokp version (based on Android 4.3). In my former aokp version (based on Android 4.2) I configured the LED to inform me about the charging state if the phone is plugged into some power outlet. So I could roughly guess the battery status by watching the LED color. Now in the new aokp version I want to activate this setting again but I can't find it. Probably it's at the same place as before but I don't know where it was. I checked out all the menus where I thought it could be but without success. I hope you can help me. Thx.

[Q] Screen flashes black, then back on

I have tried several rom/kernel combinations on two Nexus 7's and noticed that while doing normal internet surfing or using basic applications that the screen will black out for second then come back on and resume where it was. I noticed some posts on this in the android development sections, yet no one seems to have a fix. Is this a software thing or a hardware thing?
I noticed this when I installed CM10 based PA, so I guess it's a ROM issue.
Its the surfaceflinger issue. They did something recently to it and im guessing dont realize its a bug.. but let me link you the fix it will work on any ROM.

[ROM] Xylon | OFFICIAL: 2.1.1b2-Feb26 --- Issues and Problems

Hello,
I am not allowed to post in the developers thread and advised to ask here.
I have used Xylon-Rom before, did today a clear installation (factory reset, cleared all caches + data) and have some issues with the actual b2-build:
-white statusbar -> when trying to change it, xylon settings crash.
-Xylon PIE -> can't get it to work. When enableing it, nothing happend.
-Customizsation of Notification light -> where are the settings for it?
Thanks if someome can give me some advises.
Regards
Robsterboy
Hey there man, the white status bar is a known issue in the latest stable and sadly there is no simple fix for it, I'd advise just waiting for the new release which is bound to be any day now.
Once you've enabled pie did you switch to expanded desktop mode? It can be difficult to get pie to appear with the navbar still there.
Edit: the led settings are at settings->XY tools->and then LED at the bottom

I read so many complaints and issues with this ROM.
I just got my Nexus 4 last week. I rooted it right away, and installed Xylon 02-23 build, with Matrix kernel v7.0
I have zero issues at all. No problems, not one reboot in a week, no FC. No status bar problems. Maybe I got lucky, but everything just works as expected.
Battery life, with this kernel has been great. On average heavy use workdays 12 - 15 hours total usage, with constantly getting 5h On Screen time each day. On weekends with WiFi getting a full day easily.

Some of the issues are hard to spot cause you don't realize they're issues, ROMS like Slimbean and Paranoid Android are rock solid, some of the issues I encountered last I used Xylon were a memory leak (RAM would get used up and wasn't coming back at a certain point, either that or the recents RAM wasn't reporting properly), Mixcloud wasn't streaming music with the browser, PIE implementation is buggy and is invisible at times (same as Carbon and Rootbox) etc worst is the dev is a ghost in his thread
Thanks Sliming,
LED now works fine
Okay. Now have to wait until new Beta will be released.

[Q] Major Nexus 7 Problems

Ok, so I have a Nexus 7 first gen but I'm having some issues.
1; It won't startup, I deleted the OS as when I tried to update CyanogenMod it ****ed up somehow and wouldn't get passed the CyanogenMod circle spinny thingy lol.
2; The battery life goes down really quick, and when charging and in use, it goes down still. I have looked for some answers on Google and found out it only happened since updating to the latest version of Android, however, if you downgrade it still doesn't fix it.
I'm looking for someone to help me with these, can anyone?

S4 running CM11 and no issues with my LG g watch. Everything comes through with no disconnects.

I'm using CM 11 (4.4.4) on a S4 with Android Wear. No issues that I can see so far.
On Nexus 5, anything other than stock doesn't work well. Watch disconnects too often to be usable (bluetooth stack is dodgy on aosp or CM).
The fix is to flash Elemental kernel. Problem solved. This kernel is available for both aosp and CM.
Even in stock rom, if you flash another kernel, like franco kernel, the watch becomes unusable.
Again, the fix is to flash Elemental, with gives you the added bonus of enabling screen calibration for nice poping colors.
It took me time to discover all this. And frustration.

Any ideas for running CM on the galaxy s3? Android wear will not switch to connected, shows, "connecting, running sync loop". Most functions work OK but the watch is dying terribly quick. I know the moto 360 battery is supposed to be iffy, but I should get more than 4-5 hours....

I don't know about s3, but you should try a few kernels and see what works...

Well,
I tried a different kernel and still same issue. I flashed a TouchWiz based rom and it WORKED. Shows "connected". Battery life on moto 360 also vastly improved. Went from dead at 3:30 PM to 45% at same time!
I'm on DarkCM(11) for the xperia z1 and can't get it to work either.
Tested on my brothers stock xperia and that worked just fine. Il try downgrading to stock as well. :'(
If anyone gets CM on the z1 running with android wear please let me know.
I have a Oneplus One CM 11S works great on my old Gear Live and my new Sony Smartwatch 3
I read that MOTO 360 has (had) issues ?? Maybe the watch not the phones OS

Sorry for bringing up an old post. I wanted to check in on your Android Wear connection to CM ROMs. I have a Sprint S4 (jfltespr) running CM12. I will be getting a LG G Watch R in a few days but someone else on our ROM thread was having issues with his Moto 360 and the CM12 ROM. Have you experienced any issues not connection or remaining in a sync loop?
Has anyone else experienced Android Wear issues with CM 11 or CM 12 on S4 phones? Particularly jfltespr?
Cant speak for the S4 but my LG G3 has had nothing but issues with my G Watch R since I flashed CM12. I reverted back to CM11 (recent build) and its working great, never disconnects. With CM12 it would disconnect at least 10-20 times a day its unusable.
I just installed the Google Play Edition Lollipop on my GS4 and it paired perfectly with my ASUS ZenWatch. Lollipop AOSP is AMAZING and i am so stoked it works so great!

"Connecting, running sync loop" is just a different message for the same thing - it is activated on some ROMs(?) apparently when you have Developer mode enabled. But it works the same, and this message in itself doesn't indicate there should be any battery drain.
Of course something in the ROM might be causing this problem - a logcat from the watch would help in that case, but my guess is you just need to let everything install, settle down and then reboot both devices, and the drain will be gone...
My Zenwatch works perfectly with my Oneplus One running the latest CM11S. Having bluetooth on all the time does drain a bit more battery, but that's it.
I am having an issue with google wear (zenwatch) completing some tasks:
It fails to launch a phone call from google wear (my watch simply says "try again using your phone")
It fails to launch google play for music (it gives the same error as above)
Setting reminders using google keep (same error)
Text messages sent from android wear are NOT working.
Starting navigation on my watch using voice commands works.
Other basic apps appear to be working as well.
So far I've only noticed the above listed (maybe a few others) google apps and dialer that fail to launch when initiated from the watch, I have tried another dialer to see if that was the issue.
Anyone have any suggestions or insight on what I might be able to do in order to get google wear working 100% with this ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Mine works well
I have OnePlus One with CM11 and everything works quite well so far with my G Watch R

Car ROM's?

I'm looking to use my Asus Nexus 7 WiFi as a car stereo unit soon.
Would like to start checking out the various Car ROM's.
What is everyone using these days that is up to date on security patches, etc?
Anyone?
I can't get a 2013 N7 yet. So I'm stuck with my 2012 N7 for a while longer.
I am unable to download Timur's ROM/kernel because it's no longer available.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37755-timurs-kernel-usb-rom-most-popular-thread-on-rootzwiki/page-479
Currently on an AOSP ROM that's not working well with things I need it to do.
Really need a kernel that works well with fixed car stereo applications.
EDIT: I did locate Timur's 4.2.2 ROM, the last produced for N7 2012.
The filename is:
cm-10.1-20130817-USBROM-grouper.zip
It's hosted at a couple different places. Just google the filename.
Would still really like a newer Lollypop/Marshmallow ROM & kernel though if anyone has suggestions.
Otherwise, I'm still in my beginning stages of Googling everything about anything.
I don't know what you mean by car ROM, but I've been using CM13 for a while now and it's quite reliable
I'm using Autodroid 1.2 with oxydo-revamped kernel. It's Kitkat 4.4.4 which is by no means new but still newer than Timur. I'm overall very satisfied. I have a slight but annoying compatibility issue between Sygic navigation app and Slimrom nature of Autodroid (traffic cameras are not displayed correctly on navigation screen). The same problem I face on my phone, which also runs a Slimrom based ROM.
Thank you. I had heard of Autodroid but thought it was only for the 2013 N7.
And I do love me some SlimROM!
I'll Google it up at some point this afternoon.
