Is there any cell phone network that doesn't have the 5 gig Cap. I am not too happy about t mobile capping my phone. And slowing down my phone substantially after I go over my 5 gig limit

even if u unlock the phone, it wont work on other providers. or the 3g/4g wont anyway. u can get unlimited edge on other networks im sure, if thats your thing.
Here's what I'm wondering. I have 2 plans. An original plan that I got with my black berry and I got the 30 dollar web plan. I then upgraded to the g1 and used the same data plan and still have this data plan. Now I started another line to get my g2. That one I signed up as a data only plan cus I don't need 2 phone lines just wanted a g2 and had no upgrade. Now the onlyy data plan that I could use to sign up my g2 was like 50 dpllars amonth and is on the new 4g network. Well I took my first sim that has my original data plan for my blackberry and put it in my g2. Now this data plan does not use the 4g network cus I only get h no h+ on my g2 I then called customer service and was told I need to upgrade my data plan to the new android one to get 4g internet speeds. Well I've gone well over 5 gigs with my original plan from tethering to tether xbox live mw2 to downloading 2g torrents on my phone that are movies. And never been throtttled. So is it only the new android 50 dollar amonth data plan that gets throttled. So I'm tempted not to upgrade id rather have a 3g all monthe then be throttled to edge
Every broadband provider does this throtle ****. Such as comcast and att

WHAT? you post doesnt make much sense and comes off kinda dumb.
G2 doesnt have a h+ icon. H is for 3g and 4g signal.
Second, If you had a data plan before the g2 came out then you will have a 10gb cap.
If you added or upgraded a data plan after the g2 came out then you will have a 5gb cap.

To the op there isnt any networks in the USA that doesnt have a soft or hard cap.
Plus as already stated the phone will only work with tmobile 3g/4g
So I've noticed that this month my data speeds have not been throttled and I am currently at 11.28 GB of data used. Current tethered speed test results are about 4-6 Mbps up d/l and 2-3 Mbps u/l. When I first went over the 5GB I did receive a text stating that my speeds will be slowed, and also the activity tab in My Device states this as well.
Anyone have any idea why I am still be getting regular speeds? I remember my previous months the speed was unbearably slow after 5GB, but something didn't trigger the throttle this time it seems. I remember when I went over 5GB initially it was a week into my cycle, I was doing tethered video streaming on my laptop overnight and in the morning noticed I had went from 2 GB to 8+. Wonder if that had an effect?

I don't know about T-Mobile, but here in canada, I have Unlimited data plan with Wind Mobile, they also state on their website about fair usage policy and etc... Once when I asked them about the throttling my speed, they said, because Wind is a new player in Canada, they are trying to gain as many customers and hence they would not stop me from doing anything I want.
Well, now I do exactly what I am supposed to do, turned my phone into HotSpot, connected my Atrix to my G2 through WIFI HotSpot, have my laptop hooked up and ofcourse continuous internet connection on G2 itself, have used about 10GB so far for this month, and I get around 3M Up and 1.1M Down speed...
Enjoying my G2... It ROCKS!!!
If I recall it correctly, you also have unlimited data plan by T-Mobile, only cap is if you exceed 5GB per month, your speed will be reduced, right???
I've gone over the 5GB cap several times on my G2 with T-Mobile. Gotten the text notification but didn't notice a significant drop in speed. Still averaged about 3-5M down.
Running CM 7 if that matters.
It's simple, sometimes the throttling just doesn't take effect. I've seen numerous threads about this and have experienced it first hand myself.
I just got my Nexus 4 today. I currently have the 4g LTE unlimited grandfathered plan (previously was on a One X). I'm using the second set of APN settings in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851128).
However, I'm unable to top 0.31Mbps down and 0.94Mbps up. These speeds are terribly slow compared to the HSPA+ speeds I was getting on my One X. I already called AT&T and I'm still on my 4G unlimited plan, so I wasn't downgraded or anything...
Any ideas?
EDIT: Also, I'm not currently receiving MMS's.

I'm guessing you should call AT&T and tell them to reset your data or something. Same thing happened with me on straight talk and I couldn't pass 0.25 Mbps until I called them and ask them to reset my data and now I'm good.

So I see a lot of people going with the T-Mobile 5 GB 100 minute plan and was wondering..
What happens when you eat up all 5 gigs of bandwidth? Do they turn you off, charge you , or throttle you and if so what are the throttled speeds?
Thanks in advance !
I've never hit 5gb myself in the past, but you get throttled. Looking at or below EDGE speeds.

I don't expect to hit it either I just was wondering "thanks" bud
Here in the UK (if your not from here that is) when you go over the 5gb they start charging you for every mb you go over by. I have a sim plan that has unlimited data 600 mins and 5000 text. I used around 6-7gb on a busy month but mostly use about 3-4gb so I'd say 5gb is plenty.

It's unlimited. They just drop you to 2G/EDGE when you hit 5GB.

The signal is Edge but its slower, only 5-7k/s. I used to have the 200mb unlimited plan and went over to see how fast it was, it is unusable for just about everything since everything ends up timing out before they load. It is just fast enough to keep apps that use a little data (like weather) from breaking.
I figured out my wife uses about 100-300MB of cell data (when not on WiFi) a month and we're paying $46 for the Straight Talk unlimited everything plan.
I can save almost $20 a month switching to H20's $30 unlimited talk & text plan with 500MB of data. It uses the same AT&T towers so I figured the signal would be the same but I wanted to get some raw input from current or previous H20 owners. How are speeds, service, do they throttle voice/data at all, etc.?
You hear the horror stories about people complaining about Straight Talk, H20, Cricket, etc. but honestly it's usually people who use a billion GB a month of data and wonder why they get cut off.
Let me know guys. H20 or no?
Edit: not sure if this belongs here but I couldn't find a service provider discussion category.
I have cricket for 50 bucks a month I get 10 GB of data and they say that its not fast but I'm using a nexus 4 and is fast for anything I need it for . for 35 a month you can get unlimited everything but 1 GB of data at full speed and then its at edge I would say that's better then h2o but that's just me

I have it narrowed down to Cricket, Red pocket, and H20. The H20 is really tempting because it would be less than $30 and the 500MB data limit should be plenty.
How are your HSPA+ speeds with Cricket? Did you port your number to them and if so, was it a painful process?
Its pretty fast and the LTE its awesome !! And yes I have port it my number from Verizon to cricket and I had no problem doing it !!! I'm very please with them so far !
