stock vs aosp - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am new to the developing world. I always see these abundant aosp ROMs popping up for any and every phone and I just jump on the wagon and start flashing the newest most up to date ROM. As an owner of a d803 lg g2 I'm just wanting to know, in terms of speed and battery are aosp ROMs really that much better than the lg stock ROM? Expert opinions?

G2 support

Hi all,
i was going to buy a g2 but as i always do i wanted to know first what roms are available and how they run. Have been reading through xda and how well are kitkat roms running on the g2 ? I read that slim has troubles, is this a general issue or just rom related ? what about PA or others ?
I ussually get a new phone every 2 / 3 years so that i want to make sure to have up to date os until then.
TIA !
there are some minor problems with PA roms. Nothing serious though.
LG will be releasing kitkat in some time (a month?), so there will be more roms based on KK.
For now You could choose between PA, CM11 (and roms based on), some slim kitkats, and there are a lot of stock based roms and roms ported from G Flex. I would say not bad at all. Go and check it out in Development sub forums.
Stock rom is also not bad - sure it is loaded with some bloatware but better than Glaxy's for sure

thanks for your reply !
i had only a brief look to the stock ui but im sure im going to hate it. I dont have anything against LGs ui, im just used to aosp roms and like their simplicity.
My concern isnt just about kk but beyond, i mean, this year google will release 4.5 ( or whatever they will call it) and my guess is that LG wont make it available for the g2.
Does anyone know LGs policy about os updates ? How have they handled previous updates for example ?
TIA
LG policy about updates is non existent LG G for e.g. . They were saying that they will change their approach to updates but...
I also like AOSP very much - was using nexus 4 for a year. For now i would say You could use PA on daily basis. There are some minor bugs. Battery life for me was worse form what i got on stock, that's why i'm switched back.
Other than that no crashes, reboots etc. Dunno about games though - they were some voices that some of them crashing
Personally I've bounced back and forth between stock and 4.4 Roms. Right now really happy running stock with xposed installed and using g2 exposed app in play store. Really able to do everything I personally want to be able to with that module.

Would you recommend the LG G2 keeping in view the current and prospective development

Ive got to buy a new device, am stuck between LG G2, Samsung NOTE 3, and Nexus 5, The Nexus has sub-par battery life, and mediocre camera and no Infrared, the Note 3 has many features, the LG G2 is quite excellent as well, but I want a phone with excellent hardware and excellent development/custom ROMs, So keeping that in view, which device do you suggest I buy? I dont think LG G2 is getting the support it deserves from devs, do you think its development is going to reach a dead end soon?
Dev on the whole is excellent. Custom roms are not as plentiful but all of bigger aosp roms are here. Not sure what you're trying to ask...
Coming from the S3 (Verizon) and S4 (t-mobile) I have to say development is more low key. BUT I love the phone, the Roms are excellent, and I can use Roms from AT&T, Verizon and the international (D802) phones. So it balances out. I have no regrets and look forward to the G3.
As much as I like the G2, I do not think I would recommend this phone for someone who wants try diffferent "working" custom ROMS. When it was jellybean only ROMS things were looking pretty good with ROMS based of stock base 4.2.2 or even the Flex & G Pro 2 4.2.2 ports. It seems that KitKat has brought everything to a halt, and while I am sure devs do their best, roms based on aosp/cm, stock, ported have take it or leave it type bugs i.e. auto-rotate, losing network selection, mms issues, etc. I imagine with time these issues may be overcome, all bets are open if this will happen before the next version of Android is released or even before the G3/Nexus6 is released. I personally would wait for the Nexus 6 and see what hardware that phone offers. Good Luck with choice.
I should add, it seems that some issues are caused by slight differences in the G2 phones. Some people get the white lines and others can not flash any rom without major issues, most just return those back to store I guess.

[Q] PURE AOSP (Or the closest solution)

Hi guys, this is my first post.
Btw I'm going to buy a G2 soon and I was interested to find a pure stock AOSP rom, or the closest one, after doing some searches in the forum I found the Nexus 5 GPE rom, and people's saying that it's bugged and heats the phone.
I like all the G2 specs so I'm definitively not going to buy a Nexus, the only thing I don't like of the G2 is the LG stock firmware so is there any port of pure AOSP without addons?

GS4 VS LG G2 with custom roms

I think of getting the GS4 or the LG G2, but I think of installing AOSP roms on the device I will buy.
I know the G2 probably wins in terms of out of the box device, but which one is better in terms of customs roms?
I know that the GS4 is more friendly for developers than the G2 and therefore most of its useful features can be used in custom roms..

Looking for a stable ROM for my LG G2 D803

Hello everyone!
I need your help. I have a LG G2 D803 and I have the official Android 4.4.2. I am with bell and I won't have any official update anymore.
But I'm bored with this Android. I have some little bugs, the phone become hot easily, my GPS never works when I need it and the battery life is really bad. Since my warranty is over, I would like to try a custom ROM for my cell phone, but which one? There is a lot of choice and I can't decide which one is the best. If you'd guide me to the one who would fulfill my needs, that would be very nice from you.
I want something stable, not a nightly ROM.
Something that is fluid, not too heavy.
Something that has a good battery life. The best would be better than the stock ROM, but is it possible?
Something that is not too old / abandoned
Finally, not the most important, but if it could influence the choice, something new and fresh that would daze me, juste like if I was exploring a brand new phone lol.
Thank you in advance for your answers
