Quick note -- I take no responsibility for your device, if you choose to install CWM and root, this is your decision, use this at your own risk.
After reading through a few posts and figuring out there is little support I could locate to Root using my macbook, thought I would jot down what I did to root my Wifi Note 8.0:
1 -- Download and install Heimdall:
http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
2 -- Download & untar the CWM for my device pulled from here (you should end up with a recovery.img file when untarred):
http://www.droidviews.com/root-and-...te-8-0-gt-n5100-gt-n5110-gt-n5120-all-models/
4 -- Download Super SU Zip and push to device:
http://d-h.st/9M0
5 -- push (flash) CWM to your note using the command:
heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img
6 -- reboot into CWM using the vol+,pwr, home buttons.
7 -- flash the SuperSU zip.
8 -- reboot and enjoy!
this method can also be use to flash twrp.
Wifi and Reboot error is the most problem that cannot let I use rom Android 5.0 F320 for daily use.
For this Solution, it worked well for me, if you follow exact in below steps.
Now I can use Android 5 for all day as other normal Kit Kat roms.
NOTE:
- Not work if Patch with Render Kernel or separated SuperSU.zip file
- Tested in 3 days, with many Wifi router in many place.
- Tested Phone: F320L
- Tested Rom: Resurrection Remix Rom: version 20141230 and Gapps 20141109
HOW TO:
1. Download
Downgrade to JB 4.2 Kits+CMW Recovery that match with your variant:
F320L V11K
F320S V11K
F320K V11K
***Resurrection Remix Rom: version 20141230
***And Gapps 20141109
2. Boot to Recovery:
Wipe Cache/Davik/System/Data (4Wipe)
3. Flash downloaded Kit in step 1. It's will downgrade your bootloader to 4.2, and auto flash CMW Recovery
4. Reboot Recovery
Note: It gonna ask to Reroot SuperSU, Choose Yes or No won't affect to the final result.
5. It will boot to the new CMW Recovery
Flash: ROM + Gapps only
(Don't need SuperSU, it included in the rom already)
6. Reboot System (It's gonna take a long time, please patient)
7. When it finished, you will see that WIFI Worked.
To fix Reboot when turn screen off:
- Download Wake Lock - PowerManager in Google Play, set "PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK", see it run to 4.
- Go to Options: check Autostart on Boot and Nortification
- Reboot your phone again.
Thank you @lamhoang_vt for Downgrade kit (Source)
It works with cm12
When the system first boot .. wifi is working, but after the second reboot wifi is not working anymore
Dear XDA & Fellow Community Members,
This Guide is for KII-L21 variant ONLY!
& hereby declare that not I nor XDA is responsible for any damage & or WW3 trigger of your device.
Try at your own risk.
Assuming you have variant KII-L21 ( cust version : C636D00x/C185D00x )
& also on stock LP firmware, rooted, bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed.
if not, search forum for BL unlock, rooting & TWRP installation guide.
Step 1 : Take a clean Nandroid of existing installation of your device.
Step 2: Flash stock recovery via ADB & Fastboot of your last known stock rom installed
this one worked for me : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545070682210594
Command : adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery *recovery img name*.img
Step 3 : Download your exact firmware.According to cust version stated in "About Phone" of your last stock rom.
( cust version : C636D00x/C185D00x )
Cust : C636D00x >>> http://consumer.huawei.com/vn/mobile-phones/support/downloads/detail/huawei-gr5-vn.htm?id=82266
Cust : C185D00x >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/kii-l21-gr5-marshmallow-ota-caputered-t3388491
Step 4 : Extract the zip & copy dload folder to your SD card. It'd be safer if a high speed fresh SD is used I suppose.
Step 5: Turn off your Device, the press the Volume up+Volume Down+power button at same time for 10 seconds,
then release the power button only. you'll see firmware upgrading. wait for upgrade to finish.
Step 6 : If you wish , you can set up EMUI, but not mandatory. now, flash TWRP again.
Step 7 : Download any build newer than 20th july of CM , download gapps Nano, flash together via TWRP
if any error is found, just factory reset from TWRP & flash again.
CM Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-nightly-t3344499
Step 8 : First boot might take few minutes, after booting, set up CM. Voila !!! FP works like charm ^_^
Extra steps >>>>>
if you want FP on Ressurection Remix, just dirty flash RR latest build just after setting up CM. it worked for me, not sure if it will work for you or not. if found boot loop, i'll suggest waiting for @maxprzemo to update RR.
& Again, Thanks to @crpalmer & @BadDaemon for everything they have done for our device. :good:
& also thanks to al the moderators & whole XDA community ^_^ :good:
:highfive: :highfive: :highfive:

Step 9: Finally you got successfully the newest oxygen OS version!
-> If your device was rooted, root access will no longer be available.

okay, i'll give it a try. had to go back to 3.5.4 as supersu (2.79) gave me a bootloop with the latest 4.0 update :/
Updater process ended with error 7
Hello,
Thank you very much for the detailed steps. However, I am getting stuck at installing the OTA and get error 7 on TWRP.
I tried to fix it by following the below link but it did not work:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762
Any help or suggestions?
P.S: I am trying to update from 3.5.4 to 4.0 OOS.
I updated my TWRP to 3.0.3 and now can't get TWRP to decrypt, it did not ask me for any pin / password on 3.0.2 TWRP.... Is it safe to revert back to 3.0.2 and flash the 4.1 OTA with it?

Yesterday I got my 3T and upgraded OTA latest OxygenOS 4.0.1. I was able to unlock bootloader and install TWRP 3.0.3 but when I access bootloader the first screen ask me to provide "Decrypt password" to mount, and if I ignore and slide to start modification I don't have access to internal card (assume its READ-ONLY), just folders are visible but unable to find or install SU package.
I check all the forums but didn't find any relevant information how to get out of TWRP "Decrypt password" issue. I don't want my phone to be encrypted, so I would appreciate if anyone can please help me.

For those people who really want to install STOCK MIUI 9 / 10 GLOBAL STABLE ROM through TWRP Recovery on MI Max /Mi Max Prime. This guide has been simplified and involves less technical know how than my earlier guide. Do read on
This time, I will begin with the usual disclaimer. I am not responsible for your bricked device or devices failing to boot up following the procedure as described below.
This process will erase all your data[All Apps contacts sms etc will be lost]. Please ensure that you take proper backups.
This process will not wipe your phone's internal storage.
The good news, however is, if you follow these steps correctly, you can surely install and boot up successfully.
This guide works for Mi MAX Helium [MI Max Prime 64/128 GB] also with locked bootloader and TWRP. I have personally tried and tested in MI Max Prime 128 GB with locked bootloader and TWRP.
Should also work for MI MAX Hydrogen [MI Max 32 GB] provided the ROM described in step 1 below has to be Hydrogen MIUI ROM.
I will explain the steps in the manner as described below :
Step 1 : You need to download the recovery ROM Zip from the below mentioned link :
Link for MI MAX Hydrogen [MI Max 32 GB] :
Link 1 : MIUI 9.2.1 : http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.2.1.0.NB...80b676_7.0.zip

Step : 2 : At this point please download Lazyflasher.zip and Magisk Installer zip and copy to your phone's internal memory as you will be needing it.

[All Credits and big thanks to the developers]
Step 3 : copy the 3 zip packages as described in Step 1 & 2 to the internal memory of your phone. Remember the file location. where it is saved. You have to flash /install these files from TWRP from this location.
Step 4 : Boot into TWRP Recovery and go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select the FOUR partitions namely : data, system, cache and dalvik cache and wipe them
Step 5 : Go to "Install" menu of TWRP Recovery and in the select the two files namely
(i) the ROM file downloaded from Step 1 which you have copied to your internal memory of the phone as described in step 3
(ii) Lazyflasher.zip downloaded from Step 2 which you have copied to your internal memory of the phone as described in step 3
P.S. Do not install Magisk at this stage for it will result in bootloop
Step 6 : . Go to "Reboot" Menu of TWRP Recovery and select System option. This will reboot the phone back to Android System
Step 7 : Your system should now boot in around 3-5 minutes. Enjoy Latest MIUI 9 on your phone.
Step 8 : These steps are optional and intended to Root the device using Magisk. Once the system is booted up, please reboot to TWRP recovery.
Step 9 : Go to "Install" menu of TWRP Recovery and install Magisk v16.0.zip as downloaded in Step 2 (2nd file). Once install is completed reboot to system to enjoy rooted MIUI on your phone.
You have to install Magisk after the phone has booted up once or else it will result in bootloop. you have been warned at step 5
I hope you might enjoy stock rooted rom MIUI9 / MIUI 10 on mi max. Just a small Information : MIUI 10 ROMs are Developer Roms and not yet released as Global Stable but I have tested it without any major flaws. Enjoy and Cheers !!!!

No, it will not interfere with bootloader. If the bootloader is unlocked, it will continue to remain unlocked
there is the miui version 9.5.5 from yesterday. You have to upload by miflash and then continue as in the guide. 9.5.5 corrects errors found in version 9.5.4

Precisely that's why i mentioned flashing LazyFlasher while flashing ROM.
However, if you fail to flash lazyflasher, TWRP would be replaced with Stock Recovery
