First firmware for SGS II is now live in samfirmware.com! Spotted first by [[Cold]]

Yep. Default EXT4! That would mean no more lagfix (or just minor ones).
Besides TW4 is a good upgrade and a fast one too (been playing with a ported one by ColdMod's rom).

and also email.apk, the one from gs2 is really better than gs1 !!

i would like the 'tilt to zoom' feature or is this not possible to implement ??

There is a movie maker application in sgs 2. Can anyone just post the apk off email.apk and Movie Maker apk? I have been searching for this movie maker app which I saw in youtube review of sgs 2 but couldn't find it anywhere.

I am running darky 9.5 with speedmode k13e and when I try to install the app it says "not installed" damn it!
Do you guys have an idea what might be the problem? Does it need 2.3 or maybe because its a system app it doesn't install. I had a similar issue with stock browser. After accidently deleting it from systems folder I wasnt able to install it.
Any suggestions?

Probably a system app. Copy it to your system folder an run it from app drawer if it shows up

I get the same on Gingerbread. Copied it into system/app folder also, doesnt work either Wont show up as app.
Guess I'll have to wait till someone modifies it

Might be Windows 8 will support it.
Sammy prepared phone win Win 8.
If exist driver for Exinos platform in Win8 - it is POSSIBLE to write loader to load windows, why not?
See HTC HD2 as example - it can run as Android so Windows Phone as well

I am saying, HTC HD2 was build as Windows Mobile.
One great person (from Russia BTW) - hack boot loader, made OWN loader - MagLDR - that can load Android or Windows Phone 7.
So it is POSSIBLE to somehow run WP on phones, not designed for it.
Though writing such a complicate code, and in such a dangerous place as bootloader (may kill phone forever) very, VERY hard task

Well ATIV line of product is pretty much the WP8 cousin of Galaxy line. If you look closely, Galaxy ATIV is S3 hardware with WP8 installed and some minor changes.

Why? Just look at the upcoming windows phone 8 devices.

Everything is possible with proper sources (bootloader and drivers). Without them not possible.

Why would you want to offend your SGS3 by putting Windows Phone on it? Why not try putting iOS there while you're at it?!

That's just silly.
But for those saying that WP8 can be run on the SGS3, I'm afraid you're mistaken. The i9300 uses a Samsung Exynos Quadcore while the ATIV S will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual-Care. There will most likely never be a Windows Phone 8 device with the same SoC found in the international SGS3.
The US versions could have more luck as they indeed do have the same CPU as the ATIV S and thus that a much better chance of getting drivers that work for them also.

As said before not gonna happen....ativ s doesnt run on exynos 4 quad, but on dual core qualcomm...so more likely that it gets ported to us sgs3

there is an app in the marketplace but is just the feed for the portal

i really would love to have a managment tool like tapatalk on windows pc too. its something essential on smartphones but as usual on pc. when i sit on my pc i am already to lazy to open every forum. i just want to open my managemnt app and join all of my forums at "once"
btw. Board express pro really isnt as good as tapatalk (ive used both) but there is no alternative atm for windows pc,
those tapatalk coders are present here on xda? they should release tapatalk for windows pc would be really great

Its an app which runs apks extra smoothly. U cn copy the xda app's apk in it and run the app

Dear oh Dear, no offence but get an iPad if you want iOS, if you want a 7 inch get the mini.
Why would you buy android and want iOS, there is a GOLauncher theme but whats the point?! Its a different OS for a reason !
Sorry to sound rude and blunt !
PS - I doubt this will happen properly, as Apple would definately sue like they always do, I'm surprised a launcher has lasted so long.

It's impossible, iOS isn't an open source OS as android

your best bet is to install Miui on it, and thow on a iOS theme.
then throw on a crappy keyboard
get rid of your appwidgetpicker.apk in system/app folder (because you wont be needing any widgets)
tether yourself to iTunes for music and videos
use a crappy maps app
and there you have it......iOS

Completely different hardware.. even if people were to port it to our device, it would never work as we would experience it on an iPad/iPhone. Apps wouldn't work, no hardware acceleration, no Bluetooth/gps etc.

I have a nexus 10 like you and I would really like to install a dual boot with iOS in order to use some of their music app with a keyboard and microphone to make looks, iOS has really good apps for that that works really well with ik multimedia microphone and keyboard?

I really just want an app that shows the "device folder" section from google photos. I'm just not a big fan of Photos layout and how many other menus i have to go to to get to where my device photos are. Anyone know of a good replacement?

Quickpic used to be fantastic but I got rid of it as soon as it was sold to Cheetah Mobile. Piktures is pretty good but at the moment I'm using a port of the Moto X Pure/Style gallery.

Oh ok, I have the apk but the zip includes libs and whatnot too and I don't actually have the zip anymore. Maybe ask in the thread if someone has a copy of the zip they can upload.

That's terrible. Quickpic still is fantastic. People need to get over this cheetah crap. The app is still blazing fast and does everything it always did.

You have an opinion and I have an opinion. I don't use Cheetah apps for a reason, so no, I won't get over it as you suggest. You're free to your own opinion but don't for a second think that it's anything other than that, or that everyone else must adopt it too, or that it's ok to berate someone for having a differing opinion.

Whoa! Cool your jets there bud. I didn't say anyone had to adopt to my opinion, don't jump the gun. You state the app "use" to be good. Your wrong. The app hasn't changed....it still works the same as it always did. You just dislike who bought it. And yes I'm free to my opinion and so are you. The app has changed, and for the worse in my opinion. It's missing some previous features and the UI has changed a little. Some features (extra themes) have been added though. And yes, I do dislike Cheetah. But yes, let's leave it there.
