Unless you really need to flash a modem because of bad reception you don't need to. It's not dependant on the firmware you are running
yes i have had some problems with the signal thats why i want to change the modem
Related
I'm on stock 4.2.2 rooted with baseband .48. Before I updated to 4.2.2 I had pretty good signal and now it's horrible.
Can I get the .27 baseband back just by flashing a zip in twrp? If so, the only zip of .27 I've found was for cwm, can I flash that in twrp?
Or better yet can somebody he'll me get a zip for twrp of .27?
Also, any side effects to downgrading the baseband?
Thanks guys.
You mean like this?

and far as I know the zip doesn't care if you flash it with CWM or TWRP
Im having the following issue and was wondering if anyone can help
I have been using MVLUAMG1 for a while now as my baseband which is the latest Rogers/Fido modem/baseband and upgraded to foxhound 1.4 and then 1.5 from older foxhound versions
After installing the rom im trying to update the modem from MVLUAMDJ to MVLUAMG1. I tried it via mobile Odin which was neevr an issue before and everything seemed to go ok but baseband still shows MVLUAMDJ in settings
I tried via odin on my computer and get auth fail at the last part (writing)
Issue started with Foxhound 1.4 which is based on XXUBMGA firmware. Tested ROMS that are not XXUBMGA based and seems to work ok
Also unfortunately this modem is not flashable via recovery for some reason. Only ways to flash is is mobile odin or regular odin.
Trust me I would like nothing more then a flashable zip that works of this modem
any ideas or alternatives?
Will there be a good man that's just might explain why modems from international model 9505 will not work on i337?
I think it's becuase of locked bootloader. What is the relation between the modem and the bootloader?
The reason why I ask this is that I can install the new versions of kernel and ROMS thanks to LOKI patch. But I can not update the modem. In addition, I use the phone in Europe.
Is it possible to create patch like LOKI but for modems.
Sorry for stupid question.

First I cannot say WHY we cannot/can use the international modems, but they haven't worked since my S1 Captivate days. S2,S3 could not use the international modems. On my S2 I was able to make and flash international modems but voice would not work. I could make a call and hear the other person but they couldn't hear me.
Next question are you saying you CANNOT flash the i337 modems? If so how are you trying to flash them? In cwm/twrp? Or with Odin? Or How? What firmware do you have on your phone?
If you have the MDL/mdb firmware and have cwm/twrp you CAN get flashable in recovery modems. On my i337 I can flash the mdb/MDL/and mf3 modems with no issues.

I didn't write that I can't flash i337 modem. I just ask why impossible to flash 9505 modem on 337.
SGS4 SGH-I337 ROMmega 12 (ZHUDMI1), Kernel: KT, Modem: I337UCUAMDL AWS Unlocked
Probably because of the first part of what I wrote above. It MAY be possible to flash it but probable that it will not work correctly. Like I said above I was able to on my S1 Captivate. But on the S2 you would lose the mic it seemed when I flashed the international modem. But you could always try and see. Just get a flashable modem zip for the i337 and unzip it. Get a 9505 flashable modem and unzip it. Now copy the modem found inside the 9505 zip and put it into the i337 flashable zip and overwrite the current one. (Keep a full untouched zip of the i337 modem zip on your sdcard just in case).
Next rename the i337 flashable zip so you know which is which, then zip it back up. Copy it to your sdcard, go into recovery and flash it. Once it boots up test out making some calls and see if it works. If it doesn't work flash back the untouched i337 modem zip and make sure it is working.
Just in case I am in NO WAY responsible if ANYTHING happens to your phone. Just keep in mind flashing can cause bricks if things are not done properly.... Let us know what you find out.

Before the release of Omega 3 rom I extracted the baseband from the original rom (mj6), i downloaded and tried to flash it via cwm.Everything went ok with the flash problem is nothing got updated.I said to myself fu** it i'm going to wait for omega 3 .Now that it is flashed on my brick with a screen the baseband is still the old mj2. Why won't it update?

i think you got to flash modem through odin
I recently updated my stock rom to 4.3 version and then was facing some problems with rooting. so i decided to downgrade back to 4.2.2 stock but every time I tried to flash the md5 file via odin, it fails and shows unsupported version in download mode.
I went to a retailer and he flashed the 4.2.2 stock rom with another software (couldn't look properly which one). It wasn't odin. Can anyone tell me how can I downgrade from 4.3 via odin or let me know any other ways of doing so 'cause the rom I'd got installed from retailer didn't have network connectivity. I downloaded a fresh stock rom - 4.2.2 for my phone and it still gives the "unsuppoted version" error. I've already checked the version of stock rom and its the same that was running before all this mess...pls help..
Same story. Need help too.

i guess you have the I9500 variant,
you have the secured bootloader, you can only downgrade to MH1 4.2.2 only because it has the same bootloader. MH1 can be found in XFE or XFA South Africa firmware
