Hey guys,
I've been noticing something unusual with my tablet. The stock hard-reset recovery(as well as CWM) only works with USB plugged in. When it is not plugged on the computer, it hangs on the black screen with the Google logo(when it is oem locked, there's a lock on the bottom). I am also a Galaxy S2 user so I know that I didn't need the USB plugged in, in order to enter the recovery mode.
Is this normal for the N7 tablet? or is there something wrong with it?
Thank you

I have the same issue, and I always thought it was just me. Going to try a different recovery when I'm back home.

Yeah it's weird. Even after coming back to stock, unrooted, the hard-reset via stock recovery doesn't work unless USB is plugged in. Maybe some files are missing
Wow, I'm glad I stumbled on this thread, I was going nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't boot back into CWM after going back to the stock image and applying the OTA .zips.
Confirmed, I can get it to boot into CWM from fastboot only if I have the USB cable plugged in. Otherwise it just hangs on the Google splash screen.
Weird.
I've been able to boot into recovery using the app "quickboot" which had an option to reboot into recovery. My usb cable isn't plugged in.

This sounds a bit like my Nexus S i9020. It will only go into bootloader without the usb, and only go into download mode with USB attached (although it doesn't have to be powering it). This is the same on both handsets I've used. Maybe not a 'flaw' and more a nod to using fast boot/adb?

I am currently having the same problem. Did anybody come up with a fix for this?
I'm having the same issue with the nexus 7. I've found out that you can boot into recovery if you have ROM Manager installed and select reboot into recovery.
Does anyone know if this is an OS issue or recovery issue?
Interesting. Was wondering why I couldn't get into Recovery from the Bootloader.
Another bug for me is that if I boot into Bootloader with the USB connected, I cannot make any selection using the volume keys. Only works if I boot in first without USB connected, then connect once I'm booted.
Its a bug, guys learn to search in the Development threads, I'm sure its being worked on,personally I've been able to get into recovery without have to connect via USB, if all else fails you can enter recovery via USB and ADB, by issuing the command adb reboot recovery in terminal/cmd
I had the same issue last week. Not sure what changed but now I'm able to get into recovery using the reboot menu or good mngr/rom mgr. No need for usb. I'm on modaco rom and used both clockwork and twrp.

I have one more problem...
When I connect USB, the keys don't work in bootloader so can't try recovery with USB cable on.
Any solution for this?

There are two different versions of CWM- one uses the power and vol-up/down buttons for keys- the other used the tablets touchscreen for button press functions.
You may have installed the touch(screen) version of CWM- try using the touchscreen for controls.
Same issue here. I can get to recover either connected or via rom manager.

I too can get into recovery via ROM Manager. I read somewhere that pulling the battery might help. I know that's a bit of a pain on the Nexus 7, but I'm going to try that when I get home later to see if that helps.

Nope, disconnecting the battery didn't change anything. Wug Fresh (Nexus Root Toolkit developer) informed me on Google + that it's a Google issue and it should be fixed in a future update. For now i'll be either plugging in USB to computer or ROM Manager.

When it's in the download mode it may show up in a different location in the device manager and be listed only as "android".
Do you hear any sound from the computer when you plug it in when in download mode?
What does your download screen look like?
Once these questions are answered, there may be a solution. Hopefully a CDMA device won't be different

there are two possibilities.. First, your phone is already hard bricked.. second is, your battery is absolutely dead with no power left...
Well, Have you tried to check the battery itself?

(last option if nothing else to try) if you want to check the battery :

It's not hard bricked/
Getting into download mode proves this.
You must get your computer to recognize your device in order to communicate with it. So I would not consider anything else until that is accomplished. PERIOD!
1. Are you using a USB 2.0 port? usb 3.0 will not work a lot of the time. (Important)
2. Have you tried another usb cable?
3. I think we discussed the drivers, I have them if needed
What operating system are you using?
If nothing here helps we can we can use "TeamViewer 9" which will give me control of your computer to help resolve this issue...

I was flashing a zip file to an SD for my raspberry pi using an app downloaded from the app store. Once I targeted the SD and hit flash, the status bar started going across the screen to show how much data has been written, and then the phone started acting really slow, froze and started playing the bootlogo for AEX-ROM. After that the screen went black. I tried plugging the phone into 3 different chargers but nothing would turn it on, not even the status light. I plugged the phone into my computer to see if I could fix it through ADB, but the phone is not showing. I get the sound from windows of the device being recognized. Does anyone know the special key combo to put the phone into EDL mode? Or the trick to get the phone to boot again?

I've tried 3 different cables. I'm stuck at the Axon7Toolkit option "#11 : RESTORE TO STOCK/RECOVER FROM HARDBRICK (EDL)"
I am able to select stock firmware, but then it tries to pass the flash off to XiaoMiFlash and that program cannot see my phone for some reason.

Hey everyone.
I recently got a TMO 6T and tried to convert it to the international ROM, but ran into some problems. The device would not show up in the Device Manager, even after installing the OP and Qualcomm drivers multiple times. I watched several videos just in case, and restarted both the phone and computer. The phone shows up normally for file transfer, but won't appear when in Fastboot Mode.
Thank you

Turn off the phone, press and hold both volumes down then connect to your computer using the stock USB cable. You might need to turn your computer volume up so you can hear when they're connected then run the .exe app.

the one thing you can't do is expect your phone screen to be on when you're doing the conversion.all you have to do is hold the volume up and down button at the same time plug it in and when you hear it connect on the computer run the MSMdownload tool. Your phone screen will be black. You shouldn't be in fastboot mode

Hey there guys, so as the title suggests, i'm having a bootloop problem on my m30s sm-307f, i can't access recovery mode, and i'm unable to start the flashing process because i can't even install the usb driver, i've tried several drivers, using several cables, on several systems (windows 7 / windows 10 / windows 11), and i always get that infamous yellow triangle on the SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section in the device manager, the phone was operating normally one day, and the next day when i try to power it on, i get this, i'm absolutely certain that i did nothing to the phone, not even an update, and it most definitely didn't fall to the ground, please respond, i have really important data there, and it would devastating to lose it, and thanks a lot.
