Voice calls going to voice mail - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys hope you can help
I've noticed on several occasions that if I'm using my note 3 to browse web or look at emails and I receive a voice call, it automatically goes to voice mail. Phone doesn't ring or display an incoming call, I just get the voice mail icon on top alert bar.
Anyone know if its a setting on phone or is it carrier?

Voice Mail Icon-how to remove

Since i received a voice mail last night, there is voice mail icon always showing on the top bar of today, when i click it , it will go to dial voice mail box number, but i don't have voice mail service, i can not delete voice mail and the icon don't want to go, and every time reset, it will remind me has voice mail. it is really bothered me, i tried change sim card, but useless, any suggestion?
Hi mate,
I have that problems sometimes.
What you need to do is listen to the full voicemail that you have recieved and then either save or delete the voice message. THe problem is that the service provider still thinks that you havnt heard the whole voicemail as you may have disconnected from the voicemail server early.
If this does not help you may need to play with the registry on the phone but that is a subject i cannot help you with.

thanks, i did it another way, i go registry, HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail/line1/unread, i cleared count value to 0, then the icon is dispeared, then i cleared HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail/total/unread change the count to 0 also. i have a question is in HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail, there is a text value, the string is the title of the voice mail i received, i don't know i should delete it or what? what i did now is just let the string be blank. i don't know if it is correct.
Nice on the registry. i was just about frustrated when i found your post.
Thanks

voicenail fix... kind of
Here's my solution for this problem:
1. call your own phone.
2. leave a quick message.
3. wait for the new vm indication.
4. check messages.
5. delete your own message and it will remove the notification icon and change the softkey back.

you are welcome.
Here is why the voicemail icon sometimes gets stuck on:
It's a text message (specifically, a class 0 SMS) which is sent by your provider to tell your device to enable or disable the voicemail notification.
From time to time you'll be listening to your voicemail and you'll hang up at around the same time as your handset receives the SMS and the Universal will be busy doing whatever it does that takes so long when it hangs up and will, for reasons unknown to me, ignore the SMS to disable the VM notification.
The solution to this, as noted by a previous comment, is to leave yourself a voicemail message then call your voicemail and delete the message. Before hanging up, wait a few seconds and you'll see the message come in and remove the notification icon.

GV VS Carrier Voice Problems

When I set up my phone I selected GV for SMS and VM. I got tired of getting two sms notifications when I received one SMS etc....
After I rooted N1 I tried to remove GV (unsuccessfully) and I selected "my Carrier" for the default on VM and SMS. Fixed sms but....now anyone who calls my TMO number gets sent to my GV voice-mail.
What can I do? Any help appreciated.
Doesn't answer your question, but just an FYI: You could go into the default message app and turn off notifications so that you only receive one when you get an SMS.
in order to disable google voice voicemail just dial this ##004# and hit the call button.
Go into your call settings and change the call forwarding numbers back to your carrier's vmail number.
Not sure why you'd want to not use Google Voice, since it's got vmail transcription, etc. Your multiple notifications issue is simple user error and that can be fixed by adjusting your settings.
Hell Yeah!!! Thanks a lot!! Momo
Every time I get a GV voicemail, I than get an email in my gmail. I love GV. hell I have had it since GC days 2007. Android is new to me. But I have laid down my crackberry habit of 6 years. My wife's G1 one got me started. Sure loving this community and my N1.
*******Unsari1 ,,I already changed my call settings back but that did not help.
no problem glad it worked.
Also, if you were getting 2 notifications for sms, it's because you had the notification turned on in both GV and in the small client and not because there's a flaw.
Posted in another thread, but thought this was relevant to this thread as well...
To any of you who are using Google Voice as your default voicemail app... do you notice the phone's settings revert back to carrier voicemail after a reboot?
If I go to dialer after a reboot and hit the voicemail button, it dials T-mobile vmail... and if I go to Settings>Call Settings, Google Voice isn't selected anymore. So basically, it has to be set again after each reboot...

need help, lock screen notification that doesnt go away

i have a notification on the lock screen that i cannot clear. when i slide the icon that looks like a phone open, it brings up the phone app. i've cleared all missed calls but that notification stays on. any idea how do i get rid of it?
Have you tried calling yourself and missing the call then clearing that notification........
yes i have, it isnt a missed call notification. the missed call notification is a different icon. it kinda looks like a voice mail icon but there's no voice mail feature that i can find.
try dialling the generic voicemail number for your network and see if there's anything in your mailbox. Or maybe try restarting manila......

you are right, that is the voice mail icon. what do you mean no voice mail feature (meaning you don't have voicemail?)
the phone will be receiving the voice mail signal from the carrier, you need to dial your voicemail number too find the message, the number will either be in your contacts under voicemail or it will be in the guide that came with your sim card( or phone if bundled).
I cant see your carrier/country so I cant tell you what the number is.
i deactivated the voice mail feature with my carrier so i do not have voice mail. no idea how it came about.
i think it came about when i was overseas using a prepaid sim card. now i'm back home and no longer using the prepaid sim card, but the notification is still there. any way to remove it manually?

Vibe voicemail notification on Vibrate sound profile?

When on the normal sound profile, you can set an audio notification for when you receive a voicemail.
When on vibrate, I can't seem to find any way to set it to give a vibrating notification in the same way. Is this not possible? [In other words, someone calls and the phone vibrates, you decline the call...they leave a message...I want it to vibrate again to indicate they left a message.]
My workaround for this issue was to start using google voice for my voicemail. The google voice visual voicemail app has a vibrate option for notifications of new voicemails.

[Q] not receiving incoming google voice call notifications

I want to stop using a mobile carrier and instead use google voice since they give you your own number and its free to call and text message. my computer alerts me when someone calls my google number and texts, but on my android phone or my customized kindle fire hd i only receive a notification when someone texts me and not when someone calls. it just alerts me a minute later that i got a missed call, is their any way around this? I doubt it, but maybe some xda god knows how to tweak and fix the problem. :good:
