Since i received a voice mail last night, there is voice mail icon always showing on the top bar of today, when i click it , it will go to dial voice mail box number, but i don't have voice mail service, i can not delete voice mail and the icon don't want to go, and every time reset, it will remind me has voice mail. it is really bothered me, i tried change sim card, but useless, any suggestion?
Hi mate,
I have that problems sometimes.
What you need to do is listen to the full voicemail that you have recieved and then either save or delete the voice message. THe problem is that the service provider still thinks that you havnt heard the whole voicemail as you may have disconnected from the voicemail server early.
If this does not help you may need to play with the registry on the phone but that is a subject i cannot help you with.

thanks, i did it another way, i go registry, HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail/line1/unread, i cleared count value to 0, then the icon is dispeared, then i cleared HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail/total/unread change the count to 0 also. i have a question is in HKCU/System/state/messegs/vmail, there is a text value, the string is the title of the voice mail i received, i don't know i should delete it or what? what i did now is just let the string be blank. i don't know if it is correct.
Nice on the registry. i was just about frustrated when i found your post.
Thanks

voicenail fix... kind of
Here's my solution for this problem:
1. call your own phone.
2. leave a quick message.
3. wait for the new vm indication.
4. check messages.
5. delete your own message and it will remove the notification icon and change the softkey back.

you are welcome.
Here is why the voicemail icon sometimes gets stuck on:
It's a text message (specifically, a class 0 SMS) which is sent by your provider to tell your device to enable or disable the voicemail notification.
From time to time you'll be listening to your voicemail and you'll hang up at around the same time as your handset receives the SMS and the Universal will be busy doing whatever it does that takes so long when it hangs up and will, for reasons unknown to me, ignore the SMS to disable the VM notification.
The solution to this, as noted by a previous comment, is to leave yourself a voicemail message then call your voicemail and delete the message. Before hanging up, wait a few seconds and you'll see the message come in and remove the notification icon.

Hello, I´m trying to kill by code the notification popup bubble that is shown when you receive a new sms message, just inmediatly when it appears
Is it possible ??
Thanks in advance
This is a problem that the SMS app should clean up. Basically, the sms notification messages tell the phone to do things. For example the message to turn on the new SMS indicator is a blank text message with a subject of
Voice Mail
From
"Voice Mail System" . <[email protected]>
The SMS application should delete it afterward. After Talking to a smart guy from T-mobile Wireless Data group I also learned that this is a function of the Glenair voicemail system. Some upgrades cause it to send these messages as I did NOT get them in the past on my Nokia 8290. Some handsets do this automatically apparently or maybe its just something new.
Of course I may be totally wrong...
other imput appreciated.

There`s a key in the registry (HCUK/Software/Microsoft/SMS/Protocols/..) in which is defined which Application should start when a SMS arrives, standard is /windows/tmail.exe - if you change this key(s), you can redirect the SMS to other programms and the POPups are away. But be carefull: If the Application in the key don`t handle the SMS, the SMS-Text are "lost in space".
Hope that helps al little bit? ;o)

This notification you mention is specific to T-Mo and does only that, wake up. I have tried to kill this little run many times with no avail. For some reason the 2003 OS's except 4.00.10 do not have this as a default. I did not do a system snap in between upgrades, wish I did then I could finally tell what little bastard does this and kill it in future versions if I or other US users are happy being notified only once instead of twice by two different methods that they have a flippin' Voicemail
On MDA there's an Option to turn off the Bubble (but there's also an envelope on top of the screen.
Start->Settings->Sounds&Notifications->Notifications->Post: New SMS
If you remove the hook on "Show Message" further on there is no bubble again

Hi
I have an erroneous 'voice message waiting' indicator that I would like to remove. It shows up as a message icon in the top bar and also gives me a 'notification' message on the today screen (left hand softkey). When I select 'notification', it says I have a new voice message. Then i hit 'dismiss', but the message indicator in the top bar does not go away. I have tried going to voice mail, but there are no messages waiting.... Each time I soft reset, the notification reappears
Aside from a hard reset, does anyone know if there is a way to reset the message indicator counter to zero?
Many Thanks
Chris
Ok, I guess I am down to a hard reset then . Anyone know of another way?
tried tapping the voice mail icon in the top, and then dismissing?
if that doesn't work
tried dialing your voice mail and listening to / deleting all messages ?
if that doesn't work
call yourself, and leave a voicemail - wait for the voicemail notification, call your voicemail, listen to yourself (hehe), delete, and see if that makes it go away; read this approach in some other thread
Many thanks ZeBoxx. I had tried these approaches, but without success. I believe that the voice mail counter has somehow got stuck with one entry that cannot be deleted. It may have something to do with another SIM that I used overseas, that was no longer a working number... for some reason, the message showed up then and I can't seem to delete it... Thinking it may in some way it may need to connect back to that number to clear the counter...
Oh well... I might give phoneAlarm a try before I hard reset, as that app interatcts with the message counter and I may be able to do it from there...
Many thanks
Chris
Hi guys n gals,
Anyone know if there exists any software that will allow me to c how many SMS i have sent each month?
Cheers in advance,
Immortal
pocketMax PhoneAlarm can do just that. It was meant to control your phone profiles. But comes with a powerful billing tool too. Can calculate your monthly bill and customise the billing including SMS send/receive cost, free minutes, monthly charges, credit limits, peak cost, offpeak cost, etc etc.
thnx for the suggestion, i tried it but didnt like it much, too complex for my liking, i only want a simple solution!
Thnx for the heads up anyway!
DKToday counts your minutes and sms. The other features can be disabled from the options. You can configure it by going to start-settings-system-today-items, click the today plug-in and then tap options. Very small and easy solution. I have attached the current version, but I don't remember if this version has the exe file in it or only the .dll. If the latter is the case, then search this forum for the thread "is there a call minute timer available for" in the Himalaya forum and get an older version from there, than replace the dll with the one in the file I attached.
Cheers Koksie, thats what im looking for.
One question, any idea on how to dismiss a missed call without dialing it again?
Hi ImmortalU, I don't think this is possible. At 0.00 it automatically starts a new day and then your missed call disappears... You can however try to disable the line that shows missed calls. If you go to the options menu op the today plug-in you can choose which lines to show. Possibly disabling one of the lines will remove the missed calls line.
how come it doesnt work on my mini? the sms counter stays at 000
You have to enable sms notification first. DKToday does not count the sms you have sent from POutlook, but counts the incoming sms delivery notifications. Dkot ( the writer) could not find another way to measure sms sending. No problem for me, I like to have a delivery notification anyway.
To do this you have to edit the registry but an easier way is to install the cab I attached and copy the cpl file found in the attached zip file to your /windows folder. With the second file you get a control panel applet in your start-settings-system that enables you to switch sms delivery notification on or off. The first file creates the registry settings that the cpl will work with. You can also manually enable sms delivery notification for each message you send in your messaging account. After creating a new text message, go to menu-options-and tick the box. However, this needs to be done again for each message you send. The two files attached will automatically handle notifications for each message.
great. thanks. my only problem now is if the delivery notification is charged to me by my operator.
Too bad for you! Luckily in Holland these delivery notifications are free. You could contact Dkot for help. good luck!
thanks for the quick replies koksie
you're welcome, I am sorry that you are charged for these notifications. Phone Alarm from PocketMax (I think) or Phone Dashboard can also count minutes and sms, but not freeware and these are large apps with much more functionality than I need. perhaps they fit your needs, you can always try them of course.
thanks for the info. ill try them out.
hi everyone, fyi if you want to clear a missed call you need to erase the entry in the call history, DK uses this list for the call entrys.
help me in getting some way of counting send SMS on smartfone

Anyone able to help me out on this one?
I got a voice mail message the other day. Listened to it the next day and then deleted it.
The voicemail indicator (you know the one that looks like a tape symbol) is still in the bar at the top and i still have 'notification' on the bottom left soft key.
I do not have any voicemail messages and i have rebooted (soft) the phone. Cant get rid of the damn thing - getting anoying now...
Any help appreciated.
Simply call your voicemail, listen to a message, delete a message. pause (play around in voicemail for a few moments) then hang up. If you have no voicemail messages to delete, call yourself and leave yourself a message. I have/do get that problem from time to time. It appears voicemail only communicates with the phone as a one shot basis only - T-Mobile really needs to address that issue.
Hope that helps,
Best regards,
Brad
Yeah - thanks for that. Sorted out my problem. Took a couple of attempts, but its gone now
I have a HTC HD2 and when the screen is locked, it shows a number 1 (identifying that i have a notification).
When i tap the notification icon, it drops down and shows me the voicemail icon - which means i should have a new voicemail message to listen to.
If i slide the voicemail icon, the phone goes straight to phone book, but when i call my voicemail - there are no new messages...
I have tried everything and i just cant get rid of this voicemail icon! I DO NOT want to do a hard reset.... Please let me know how to sort this out...
+1.
I'm too having this problem. Whenever there's a new email notification on the lock screen it always shows there are 2 messages, one being a voicemail.
I can't find a solution for this problem here on XDA (if anyone has a search string for me, please let me know )
I remember Nokias having ghost voicemail messages, these were reset by the mobile service provider, check with your network just in case.
Possible Solution...
I'm not an expert, but I kept noticing this problem as well (HTD2 on AT&T). Happens after a hard reset OR if AT&T updates their network or something (who knows).
Anyway, experimented and found if I left a message to my phone from another line right after a reset (when I was seeing the "ghost" voice mail notification), allowed the message to register on the HD2. Turn screen off then on. Slide VM notification. Dial VM. Check the messages and delete all (press 7 to delete). Exit VM with * key. And the ghost notification disappears. I will update if this works in the future.
Hope this helps someone.
No problems with HD2 and PocketShield

Some consumers reported ghost notifications on the Touch Pro 2. I don't know how they fixed them but I know they did. You may want to search those forums to see if the same solution can be used on the HD2. I think it should given that the operating software is pretty much the same.
any solution ?
i tried this but doesnt workhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7731861&postcount=10
