Look at my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586298&page=2
I followed YouTube how to videos by SHEM, look for his channel
As for the thread, I use 0 red 0 green 3 blue, to remove the yellow hue. That's all.. Before the ROM I used an app on Google play store called screen adjuster, use it if you don't have white balance in your settings, it does the same job
I'm using a Screen Adjuster app from the play store because I don't feel like rooting my device and installing the sony white balance app. The screen adjuster app I'm using right now doesn't change the onscreen navbuttons and it makes blacks kinda blue, so the notification bar looks very blue because of that. Does the official Sony white balance app suffer from the same problems?

Make Sure to do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset before Installing the ROM.
Start the Installation. (Install Zip >> Choose Zip for External SDCard).
Install the ROM and then Dual Recovery.
Switch Off Your Phone (Do Not Reboot). Select No to Disable Flash Recovery Confirmation.
Install Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.290) or Kernel.ftf for C6902 (.290) with Flashtool to get compatible Kernel and Baseband.
Reboot and Enjoy.

I was using ScreenAdjuster and was not satisfied with results. Thats y i rooted with LockedBootloader and installed custom ROM. With these white balance settings screen looks pretty awesome.
I thought I'd bump this thread back up again now that we all have the white balance sliders.
I use 98 Blue, 0 for the rest. I never realized how yellow my screen was before this.

Yeah I bumped up mine to 120 blue. I find the HTC One way too cool color temperature and it's not very realistic, so I kept it a bit down.
I try to make it look like my iPad so I set it up like this: R=25, G=0, B=55. It's still a bit different and I can't seem to get rid of the yellow hue in some color tones but whites and greys are much better now.

Yeah I probably went overkill but it looks so much better than it did before this last update. Plus, all I had with me was the HTC One as a reference. I'll probably tone it down to 100-120 but for now it looks great.

To counter yellow add more blue.
Adding red and allowing more yellow gives a warmer colour.

I think most xperia Z owners will agree that the navigation bar and status bar although transparent on the home screen take up way too much space on this large beautiful screen. Yes there are mods to flash to bring them down but if you get them wrong your phone's bricked. Instead I rooted and used root Explorer and change get the Lcd density to 320. *perhaps a bit small for some* but definitely give this easy simple trick a try. And for those who have please post your density value and share your thoughts.

I have my nav bar set to 36ppi and the overall density to 400ppi. Great experience. Default values waste to much space.

I don't know how many users agree, but I think Sony deserve congratulations here.
The size is perfect for me, and since the navigation bar cleverly disappears when I need it (in photos, videos, games and full screen apps), I'm pretty happy that Sony chose the size that composes gorgeously in the screen. The exact size.

Even when I'm in full screen apps the navigation bar is still present. This is my phone with soft keys tho I'm used to galaxy's where they are on the phone rather than in it. And I just felt everything was a tad big tbh. There's no need for the navigation bar and status bar to take up a good inch off the screen. But that's my opinion

Use the XposedMod AppSetting to change the DPI back to 480DPI and screen(dp) to 320x480. Apply it to:-
com.android.systemui.product.res.overlay
Contacts
Phone
Phone Contact
Phone/Messaging Storage
Reboot.
And you should be fine.
I use Xposed + GravityBox, i can resize the NavBar at will, in realtime and without the need of reboot to apply changes, it is not dangerous in any way, etc, etc. And you can do much more things, like toggling an expanded desktop mode (no notification bar and no navbar) with a press of a button, and much more.
Change DPI in build.prop is not recomended, it causes glitches in launcher and/or apps.

Global DPI is 400, and this is how Walkman looks like in that setup:
If I set up 480 for Walkman only, this is what happens:
And finally 320, which is okay, except for the black line in status bar caused by overlapping layouts:

White isn't discrete, black is .Black does not stick out as prominently as white.
As for elegant & showing less fingerprints yes.
I think you need to think a step ahead as to what colour case will work best provided you want to use a case in the first place.
Usually when this question is asked, what people should think about is the colour of the bezel around the screen. Sony's typically have a black bezel. Why does this matter ? Because black gives you more choices as to case colours than white.
If its a samsung phone, where the bezel is also white or not black, you want to go with a darker bezel almost always.
Sony is a bit harder as all come with black bezels. Same with the nokias. Notice they also all have black bezels, and then you have different colours.
white vs black Z1 variant is a tricky choice. As the colour of the strip is more attractive with the white than the black giving it that more elegant look. The aluminium strip on the white always catches my eye more than the one on the black.
So the question is are you going to use a case or not, if so black is easier to match than white. And any other colour besides those two will limit your choice of case colour that much more. Pink & lime are not neutral colours you have only 3 choices either same colour case or their compliment or black (depending on how much of the phone colour it reveals). Transparent is prolly easiest.
Pink & lime are actually complimentary colours themselves. that means they go well together.

All you can do is positioning the ring. I like the setting with the ring put near camera icon, but its not that easy.

Here's mine. I'm very happy with it.
I would rather prefer a tool to set the white level of the screen.
Compared my G3 to the wife's G2 today, my screen is very pinkish, hers is a perfect white, this is the only concern I do have with my G3
So one thing I have noticed is vertical adjustments change black and white and horizontal adjustments change color. Try making a setting and toggle on and off to compare, i like to go through my app drawer to see if the dark colors are too shaded. Another thing i do is use a reference like xda in chrome to see if the brown and yellow theme looks like it does on my laptop for a good consistency and nice deep color. I'm sitting at the camera icon as well but thought I'd share some ideas on testing and using visual references on things you've seen across different displays to know correct color tones.
Horizontal does hue..... which will more or less completely screw up your phone's color balance
Vertical does the contrast. Go into your laptop display or monitor and crank the contrast, your colors will start to haze and wash out a bit. Dropping it a smidge should make the blacks a bit more, well, black and your colors pop a little bit more.
It's be much nicer to have granular controls of the different colors... but at least this is something.

Yeah.... Hue is better known as "Why the F does my screen look like a smurf on an acid trip puked on my screen?" Any adjustment to that needs to be extremely fine and each color needs to be discrete. An all-in-one slider is about as useful as that HUE knob that us old-timers used to have on our televisions. Made everything look like a cheesy alternative music video from the early 80's.
Doesn't this affect the entire screen and the whole phone? Apps included?
I was so excited to get the 2014 Moto X and I was going to order it through MotoMaker but the wait was absolutely ridiculous. So I went to a local Verizon store and purchased the black 16GB version. I was VERY happy with this device, however with all the news about the DROID Turbo....how could I not return it and wait for that instead? So that's what I did..anyone else do that or consider doing that?
Screen defect of excessive color shifts when tilting our screen. Basically when showing a page white background (like gmail or google's search page), the screen would appear yellow tinted when looking straight, and appear blue tinted when tilted to any direction for a few degrees. It is more obvious under full brightness and it will look like a yellow/orange blob appearing and disappearing as you tilt the screen.
Yeah, I returned my MotoMaker version. Didn't like the colour. But bought a black one off Amazon.
Not convinced it's worth £200 over a Nexus 5 though.

Yeah I can see it now. I can live with that though as long as I know my device isn't faulty. Thanks for the fast reply.
Well I'm not returning it but selling it, the main reason is because the Nexus 6 have better hardware with some of the same features of the X. I'm interested in the better camera, dual speakers, higher res screen and much bigger battery. I'm disappointed the Moto X didn't get some of these things. I'd probably be content with my Moto X if the Nexus 6 didn't exist or had better hardware.
I can't deal with large phones, so I bought a used Moto X for $165. I'm not sure if I can use the N6 as the daily driver due to the size.

Temp fix is to download screen adjuster and have it run on boot. Then set blue to 15 and disable the notification. Its like it never happened haha.

Great solution! It really helps to remove the orange/yellow look and makes everything more natural. I find 15 a bit too cold for my taste but 10 works really well.

Screen adjuster...way too many device permissions. View/modify web bookmarks and history? wtf for?

Are you using Screen Adjuster or Screen Tint Adjuster? I use the later and it has three permissions.

I just checked "screen adjuster", it has way too many permissions. Does screen tint adjuster adjust color?

Yes it does. I set it like this to add some cool to my screen without turning blacks blue.

Sold my pure edition on Swappa. I didn't like the battery life, camera and lack of stereo speakers ( which were included on the lesser model moto G) for a flagship device. Waiting for the Nexus 6.

Coming from a Z2, which had apparently the last semi-accurate display released by Sony, the Z5P's default color temp is insane. According to reviews, it's close to 10,000K (where ~6500K is ideal for daytime use). Check out this comparison shot below (Z5P on the left, Z2 on the right, default white balance settings):

Everything has a blue tint (as expected with that cold color temp). Fortunately there is the white balance option, but I find it works somewhat. It uses color overlays, and results in even higher grayscale dE (you can see it with your eyes, let alone a colorimeter).
Am I the only one annoyed by this? Is there a panel lottery or is this considered 'normal' for the Z5P?
could be following possible reasons
1. is your device rooted and/or did you install/remove any screen filter app (such as twilight) ? might some setting were leftover.
2. was device xposed to high temperatures while playing games/watching movies?

Just out of curiosity, why does rooting the phone cause this? I have a rooted z5p and my dad has an unrooted one and I do notice a difference in the display similar to what is shown in the OP. I do have the DRM-emulated keys on my phone though so I thought that would make it similar to how it was.

rooted device means the core hard setting are subject to be changed by any app. May be some app did without even notifying you once root access were granted.
DRM keys is not going to affect the tint. in fact you have drm keys in place thats just a value addition.

Download CF.Lumen from Play Store and play with the settings. I decreased the color temp to 6500K with the app, looks way better.

i noticed something very interesting.
in DEVELOPER OPTIONS
if your windows Animation scale / transition animation scale/ Animator duration scale affects are "ANIMATION OFF"
the screen will wakeup instantly
when affects are ON, and screen wakesup will be fading in style (on double tap or by the power button) , and i noticed some blue tint. so closed the animation affects and now screen is brighter and good to go!
The device was brand new when I took it out of the box. Apparently this is standard - I went to an electronics store and compared my screen with the demo units. All of them have the blue tint.
As for the CF Lumen suggestion, there's no need for it - Sony includes a white balance setting, however this reduces both brightness and contrast. A pity, since my Z2 (on the right) has a white color temp of ~7000K (very close to the ideal 6500K).
If anyone has used a colorimeter to calibrate the display, please post your white balance settings.
Wired cos mine has 6600 checked with cf.lumen

CF.Lumen won't leave an impact on the brightness so you could try that also.

I'll try it, but I find that hard to believe. All of the 'color temp' apps (including Sony's settings) use colored overlays (like screen filters) - so brightness and contrast are affected.

Presumably you're aware that you can set the colour temprature in cf.lumen.
I think I'll just unlock my BL, root, and install the kcal module. Seems to be the best way for hardware level adjustments.

best of luck with rooting!
if any help needed plz do let me know
i have rooted E6833 / 6.01
I checked with my Z2 and Z5P also, but in my case, Z2 had more blue tint more than Z5P.
However under my test, they were both max brightness, and Z5P is way brighter than Z2. May be that's why?
Did you adjust both of your screen to MAX brightness or adjusted to around same brightness?
Thanks!
