Well i had a screen protector in my hd2 since first day, but i read some and found that it is scratchness, so i took off the screen protector and the difference is big o.o the colors and brightness of the screen are so beautiful compared with screen protector (L)
so can someone confirm me that is it truly anti-scratches? or it is just false?
i have a nice scratch down my screen lol

mines from trying to prove you cant scratch it LOL........
It's highly resistant to scratches. I don't have a single scratch, no protector, and have had the phone since they came out in the US.
Of course, being glass, it still possible to scratch if you try hard enough.
i used the pouch that came with it for abotu a month and a half but then i didnt bother, ive had the phone since nov09 and dont have any scratches on the screen
i use no other than "brando ultra clear" since my early days with my palm V
screen protection is highly resistable and after 2 Years of usage with stylus no scratches. On my HD2 no difference with or without screen protector.
Udo
I'd recommend some kind of pouch when you put it somewhere together with other stuffs, especiually keys etc. If its solo in your pocket its safe.
just keep the screen pointing to your leg in case someone hits you with something. <-happened to me
i have my hd2 from nov 2009...i use the leather pouch it came in with...clean as new....but then i take care of it real good....it can get scratched if it comes in contact with a material which has a higher moh (measure of hardness) ...so get the leather pouch for hd2...it wont add bulk to your phone and provides the best cover for the screen
I got the Otterbox for the HD2 and its amazing. When I take the phone out of it to remove the battery or sd card the phone still looks BRAND new. They cost only a little more than some screen protectors do. I got mine on Amazon for around $30
2 years with my dear and not a single scratch, and i don't use the leather pouch, only a silicon case to protect the back.
Hi, screen protector save my phone when i accidentally drop my hd2 from meter and half. Screen clash on sharp stone on ground, protector to destroy, but display survive with only little scratch. So, im using screen protector. Obviously do not use cheap screen protector.
I had my first hairline scratch for SGS2 within 4 days of usage. Probably the Oleophobic coating it had which is more prone than Gorilla Glass.
I hurried to get a Screen protector but what about the camera?
Nobody in the forum seemed to be concerned about giving the 8MP's a decent protection.
Anyone here use a old SP on the lens or leave it as it is?
For a scratch-phobia user like me, probably not leaving chances to luck.

I stick a smiley sticker on the back under the camera so it doesn't touch the surface when I leave it on the table.
Or you may trying cutting a piece from a screnprotector...

Once I fixed a piece of a screen protector (which corresponded to area of the home button) on the camera's glass but it made my pictures terrible, specially because I covered the flash also. then I removed it. However it was one of the cheapest screen protector. A crystal clear one might be a different story.

Isn't compass showing towards your camera all the time?
I bought the SGP Ultra Capsule case for SGS2. It makes the phone about 1-2 mm thicker so when you put the phone on a flat surface the camera stays intact. Same goes for the screen. I've never used or even liked phone cases before but this case is awesome, my friends didn't even notice my phone had a case It also comes with a Crystal Clear screen protector so you can cut it to make a piece for your camera.
Oh and about the screen. The SGS2 screen is made of Gorilla Glass and has oleophobic coating. Oleophobic coating is not a glass type but coating, something that is added on top of the glass. And that coating doesn't scratch so you can't say that SGS2 is more prone to scratches due to the coating.

Yes, the compass is the only disadvantage... But I dont use it, I prefer protecting the camera...

Yeap you're right. It should be the scratch-resistant (not proof) gorilla glass. I must make it clear that the scratch is a negligible hairline that only shows when screen's off.
I probably get a cheap crystal protector for the camera. Can't risk getting the goodness scratched =[

How is the screen protector like? I purchased a Matte Screen Protector and hell it makes my Super Amoled screen like rainbow glitter all over my screen. Especially the whites.
Worst money spent on a SP.
enough with cheap screen protector.
Try brando ultraclear and you won't regret it (brando don't pay me).
jokes aside, i had a pleomax screen protector with anti fingerprint treatment that work but the colors were bad. With the brando now i have the fingerprint but the colors are perfect and it's like there is not protector on the screen.

thanks man!
right now there're a few major downsides to SP for SGS2
Anti Fingerprint SP
+No Smudges
- Rainbow speckled display can drive some people mad when the purpose of SGS2 is it's beautiful AMOLED display. I mean, whats the point? Lol.
Crystal Clear SP
+Almost Naked SP
- Smudges.
Note: I am not too sure the extent of smudges on SP affecting user experiences.
But in short, with respect to thread's subject, I find many people have really unique ways to Sealing their SGS2 from wear and tear and by far the Magnet cover is the most creative and unique.
Solutions to SP for Camera
1) Get Martin Field's SP. They come with Camera SP. But they're only ones to do so.
2) Get a cheap crystal SP
3) Use a expensive SP just for the Camera SP.
Afterthoughts
I can't seem to abandon the thought of leaving the camera's glass Naked. I feel so uneasy when I lay it on the table, not knowing when some loose staplers or sand strikes/scratches.
Meanwhile I leave it to my case' thickness to safeguard my camera's glass for the time being...
Okay I thought i'd make this quick thread to help you guys out. Some of you Xperia users don't realize Sony Preinstalls this screen protector or should i say "Shatter Glass" on all of their devices. Is this good? Simple answer, NOT. AT. ALL. When i took the shatter glass off i noticed an increase in brightness and the phone was more vibrant and so i order this Nu-Clear Screen protector off Amazon And it is the best screen protector I have ever had. It is so smooth and feels like its not even there and the phone is just as vibrant with it as it is without it. This screen protector only cost $3 with free shipping when you sign up for Prime on Amazon which i suggest you do because its free for a month and ou cn just cancel it before that.
Heres the link
amazon.com/gp/product/B005KGBCFG/ref=cm_cr_thx_view
To take off that preinstalled shatter glass i sugest ou use something thin and sharp because it's on there pretty damn good. I used a razor blade and started picking at the bottom left of the phone right by the back button and had it off in no time.
Now when installed the Nu-clear screen protector clean the phone with some windex and a paper napkin then wipe off the phone with the microfiber cleaning cloth and blow away all the dust. Then when applying a screen protector i suggest you peel it off just a little so you can align it up with the top of the phone. Once lined up start pulling back the tab little by little while pushing a card(credit card or whatever) to make sure no air bubbles pop up.
This video pretty much shows you what i mean.
youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=euIPR-yTZrE
Hope i helped because that preinstalled shatter glass was just annoying and was a magnet for scratches!

So there is a layer that comes installed on the phone already? Nice to know I can remove it because I've scratched it up pretty good and I've only had the phone about two weeks. I haven't even really done anything to scratch it either, so I was actually a little upset when I started noticing them.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Be careful, if you remove that layer you need to put on some other sort of screen protector. If you don't you'll notice that if your hands are moist at all the touch screen won't work properly.

Yep, I smell a shill.
Lol The bottom was ah advertisement everything else is true that shatter glass just collects scratches and I had just took it off when I got this nu clear screen protector and I'd just thought id let Y'all know about ah good screen protector

I've used two types, the one that came with the otterbox encasement, which turned out horribly.. had a bubble within the screen protector almost immediately, but that could've been my fault, but i had to re apply it several times, which only seemed to multiply the air trapped between the screen and protector. And I used the standard AT&T screen protectors, which are amazing, they're thick, anti smudge, clear, and since they're pretty thick, they don't bubble at all, really easy to apply too. but it's like 16 bucks for 2.
.. and i just realized that op might just be advertising.
me too man, i smell a salesman.. hehe
I bought the phone and shop gave me a cheap screen protector... now I have smudges of fingerprints all over (oily hands).. but then, still better than naked.
Guess I'll change to matte (anti-fingerprint) type after this. Anyone using matte? Is it good on xplay?
It comes with a protector on it, there really is no need to replace it. My screen is perfectly bright with it on. I clean my screen off a few times a day with a little cloth, looks brand new after every wiping. (im also SUPER careful with my phone, and I hate fingerprints, OCD)
It isn't even a screen protector it's ah shatter glass

Just want to clarify that :>>>> the touch screen is whether made of Glass or Plastic? In case of Glass, it's no need to add a screen protector and remove the pre-install screen protector can improve the screen quality and touch response.
Pls advise.
Good screen protector
I purchased a pair and its fantastic so far. Instillation is a bit of a problem if you are impatient like me.
I recommend, its cheap and reliable. plus you get 2 for the low price of 3 bucks

It's a glass screen, but not gorilla glass like on the iPhone. Hence the pre-installed shatterproof film
So, I have been using a screen protector since I bought my S2 for a few days. Yesterday when I was drunk, I realized there are some scratches on it, so I decided to peel if off, thinking having another protector later. And to my surprise, my screen became freaking shiny and colorful and beautiful like a stone turning into a diamond. Now Im feeling like a retard, because that lame protector (in fact it's an expensive one), I suffered from an ugly change of screen color of my S2. I am sure I will never get another screen protector, this screen is too beautiful and it deserves to be seen.

Screen protector is a stupid idea anyway. Anything that can scratch a gorilla glass will easily go through a flimsy screen "protector" and scratch the glass anyway.
Im using a Zagg Invisible shield, purely through habit as I've had one on all my phones and comparing it to my GFs S2 (with no screen protector at all) there is absolutely no difference, but to each his own

That depends what screen protector you're using. The matte and the cheap screen protectors are not shiny and look dull, but if you get a good quality screen protector, you won't even notice the difference. Everyone SHOULD have a good quality screen protector because it protects the phone from scratches.

This kinda right.
I used a costly PS and still notice a little difference in the vividness of color and obviously the touch response is much more different, i mean more prominent. Using it without a PS for a month now and no, I am not applying a PS again.
My scr protector was an expensive one, it doesnt change the touch sensitivity but for God's sake the color is aweful...

Nope, it's pure logic. You can't scratch gorilla glass. You can only scratch the oleophobic cover on top. If your phones comes across something so strong that even gorilla glass will be scratched, a flimsy screen protector won't be any help.
Ive had a screen protector and all the phones ive owned, and yes you see a difference in the display but i can live with that! and what plank said if you scratch a screen protector it'll go through lol if thats the case then i wouldnt use a screen protector in the 1st place my phone is always in and out of my pocket and most the times its my keys or coins that scratch but underneath my protector the screen has NOTa single mark/scratch and ive gone through loads of protectors since i had my GS2..
Conclusion: i would highly recommend a screen protector ! ChEAp and keeps the gorilla glass free of any scratches!
The end!
Bye
I don't use a screen protector, but can see 2 scenarios where my screen can be scratched.
1. The beach with sand... Solution is to get a waterproof case/bag and have some fun too
2. letting my gf or any woman with diamond earrings to talk on the phone... Solution don't let then use my phone!!
Other than that, I even demoed to my friends the key scratch test on my screen frequently. Someone asked what would I do if a drop of super glue lands on my phone... My answer... Use a razor edge and scratch it off!

Been using my S2 phone since it came out. No screen protection at all. No scratches of any description apparent. My screen is still 100% perfect.

Flawed logic. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof. To scratch it, you need to use something harder than the glass. Metal is softer, so your keys are not going to do harm to the glass, it might scratch the coating only. However, sand is just as hard as glass if not harder. That will scratch through the coating and the glass in one go. Unfortunately, sand is everywhere.
If you want the screen to look good then don't use a matte screen :O

Rather have the piece of mind knowing that with a screen protector, even if it doesn't protect it that much.. it still gives some protection. Same goes for cases why have use some cases when "some" add very little protection and mostly for looks.
The fist thing to do when i get a friend's phone in my hands is to peal off the protector and pretend it was by mistake
Screenprotectors only effective by blackberry. Since gs2 has gorilla glass..

Actually no. Gorilla glass isn't completely unbreakable or invincible to scratches, just harder to. You will get some hairline scratches but with a screen protector you won't

Hi,
I put my phone in my gf's purse in a pocket just next to her earings (which I had not seen obviously) so my z2 screen got now a very obvious scratch that I would like to remove.
I can't feel it with my finger but it's still visually very annoying.
I tried the toothpaste but didn't do anything.
Would you have any product to recommend?
Thanks for your help!
Damn, thought the screen would be more resistant than that : ( Guess it's not as solid as Gorilla Glass.
Apply a screen protector, it normally helps hiding scratches
I highly recommend grabbing a glass screen protector (Nillkin on eBay is pretty good). It'll hide the scratch *and* feel great.

I'm using Nillkin tempered glass on all my devices and it's awesome.
First thing when I'm buying new device is ordering Nillkin TG.
I still have one I applied on Z1 and it's just like it was the first day.
I'm cleaning my devices by showering them and washing them in water so that's pretty awesome protector which could take all that and still stay proudly on screen

Metal should not scratch the screen.
Sand, glass or any other kind of silicon will though.
I had Nillkin Tempered glass, it couldn't apply/align properly. One edge was not good. Got angry and broke the glass lol. I'm totally OCD about screen protectors.
I generally do not use screen protectors, because even if they are immaculate when you put them on, they quickly become less so. The cure is worse than the disease. The only way I'd use one is if I was very very concerned about resale value and did not care if my display quality was impacted.

Screen protectors vs tempered glass is a world of a difference. Tempered glass does not show signs of scratches or air bubbles unlike normal screen protectors. They also dont hamper touch sensitivity and save the screen from the various damages we might inflict otherwise..

iTop is quite hard to find but it's verry popular in my country. The screen protector fit perfectly and cost me about $10.
