Hi Mates,
I need some help to restore my EFS partition, I think.
After a restore from X-Note backup, with TWRP, anytime I start the phone I get "FACTORY MODE IS ON" and need to copy the EFS files from a backup I'd made at the begining (tar.gz) to the EFS on the root and it works properly.
TWRP 2.6.3.7 isn't able to mount the EFS partition and stock recovery saids "Error mounting EFS: invalid argument".
Can any body help me with this issue?:good:

Hi vndnguyen,
First thing I did. I also tried EFS Professional but whitout succes. It seems like the backup must be done by the tool itself. I even tried to do backups but I got nothing. That's why I think, the main problem isn't the folder but the partition itself.
I'm not a professional, it's possible I did somethig wrong.

Total Wipe of your phone, then rebuild your EFS from scratch using this fire script.
---------- Post added at 09:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ----------
Just to add, EFS backup is not so important anymore as it can rebuild due to it being stored on the hardware.
---------- Post added at 09:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 PM ----------
Also - forgot to add - TWRP has issues with restoring backup
My friend also damaged his EFS, same fault /failed to mount.
He really had a fight with his handset, but ended up sending it to our shop. We just restored PB using Asansam box (Asansam solution for /fail to mount EFS)
We searched alot for a solution on XDA, before he sended it to us for service, but didn't find any.
If I where you, I would look for someone nearby with a Asansam who can help you our
Best regards

What do you need exactly? That's what I do every time I restart my phone. At the bottom of each image a litte text.
For those who are willing to pay a little, then I can recommend to buy an Asansam box, only 85 €, and it will fix it within a few min permantly

I recently purchased a rooted and unlocked SGS2. Coming from a Jailbroken iPhone4, this is my first Android. For more than a month everything worked great with my Fido sim. However, all of a sudden I lost data connectivity. After reading forums and researching on Google I reinstalled/flashed the firmware, modem and so on. But the problem still persists. In fact now my sim is not even recognised.
Did a clean wipe and re-rooted using Odin3 v1.85
PDA: CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG6-v4.1-CWM4
Phone: MODEM_I9100XXKG6_REV_02_CL1044543.tar
Then performed a sim unlock using an app from Market.
Under 'About phone' the 'Baseband version' still say 'Unknown'
I don't know what else to do. Please help... Thank you

Someone suggested "deleted the nv_data.bin and the nv_data.md5 in efs folder with Root Explorer, and renamed the .nv_data.bak into nv_data.bin, then restart."
Using Root Explorer I can access the efs folder. Where I can see all the files and my IMEI. But I cant make any changes as its read only. I have tried multiple code using terminal but I still can't access it.

I am in the same situation, is there any fix?
I fixed my problem by shutting down the phone, removing the sim card, booted, then the IMEI command returned a number.
I did a full backup of my efs folder. (nothing to do in solving the issue, but it was the time or never to do it).
Restarted, putting the sim back in, and voila.
iam in the same sitatuion .. :/
I've backuped my actual system /2.3.5 with CF Root Kernel 4.2 and restored the Original Firmware Backup i made at first day i've got the I9100
Then i try to copy out the /efs Folder, backup on my computer, restore the image from today and replace the /efs Folder from the stock rom... hope it works :/
// i think it works, but have to test - after restoring my backup i made 30 minutes before (with the baseband and imei problem (i backuped with this problem)) withhout chaning anything in the /efs folder it works, too.
I think some data after rebooting will be lost.. dont know.. have to wait and test :/

download KTool or HC-kTool from new Android market, make sure your phone has root permissions or super user, you know after you root you get it anyway, it has efs file that should have a backup for your imie, also get Root explrer and Rom Manaer they have access to efs file, you should watch Mobiletech reviews on YouTube, he also provides his own tool that he says will fix your imie.

E4GT is in a different forum, try there - it has a completely different method of managing modem firmware since it's a CDMA phone.
I have two N7's atm. I want an exact copy of my first to my second. However, Nanoid is giving me problems. I did a backup using CWM Touch. I copied the clockwork folder from the first N7 to the second. Following this, I installed PA 2.14 (the first is on 2.13) and tried to do a restore. However, I constantly get an error while it tried to restore /system.
Is anyone familiar with this? Are there other files i need to transfer over?
Did you copy the whole CWM Folder over.. or just the backup files.? How did you copy it ? Did you corrupt the files during the copy?
to do this you should..
1 make the backup.
2 copy the WHOLE CWM Directory.
3 copy it to the second device whole folder..
4 make sure they both have the same version of cwm on them
5 restore the second device.. the . blob files are needed from the cwm. and sometimes they get corrupt copying using otg to some sd cards.
Hope this helps resolve your issue if not post back here with more information and there Could be more information into the issue..

Hey, I think you were right about now having copied the entire folder properly. At first i was trying to copy from tablet to tablet while having both of them connected to my pc. This time i turned on hidden files, copied from first tablet to desktop and from desktop to tablet 2. Just tried it and it seems to be working. Or atleast im past the systems steps. Ill be back if it doesn't work though
Thank you for the reply.

But it booted up, so it seems to work. Is this normal?
this and a few others is the reason i now use TWRP Recovery.
And i enjoy the usb otg in recovery its great..
Glad to help .
you can try twrp by downloading goo manager from the market.
then inside the app click the menu at top right and install open source recovery..

Update: Was able to restore /data using titanium backup to extract from the twrp recovery file. Any ideas why twrp isn't working? Should i just get CWM?
Twrp works fine for me. I prefer it to CWM.
Not sure what your problem was, though.
Working fine for me I have restored my back ups with no problem. Same twrp 2.2.2.0 not sure what your issue was.
Thanks for the replies.
Just remembered, I renamed the folder name after creating the backup, would that have any effect on restoring?
Also the backup file was about 1.24gb, could it be the size was too large? Though it didn't even restore components individually...
I don't feel I can wipe confidently anymore without knowing the problem exactly, any thoughts?
I just tried it. Renaming the folder DOES have an effect on restoring.
My back up is also 1.2 GB.
I always name mine before I back up. It should work fine. Unless it was from when you renamed it somehow?
I name all my back ups but I do it before I actually back up the rom. Maybe that is the issue. Name it before the back up even starts and then you should be fine.

I did this. Can I rename the folders back to thier originals, or do I need to use some other recovery to reflash my backups? I would need to know if there was way to determine the origial file names, of course. I have a data only backup renamed BEFORE savig, it works fine. Only the ones I renamed using my PC dont work. I did not make the connection till reading this post. Team Win may need to investigate this issue.

You can rename it and it works. The folder names are as follows:
/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/"your device serial number"/"date and time"/
For instance:
/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/036f586ce7bee89/2012--09-14--17-45-24/

Try what janedoesmith suggested, alternatively if u simply want to restore the data, this can be done through titanium backup.
You can confirm the "date and time" by checking the properties of the backup folder eg through root explorer

FYI: I just made up the serial number as an example. You have to name that folder with your real device serial number. Also, you can name the date and time folder with anything you want.
I know, I made sure my folders were named correctly. Fyi, any date/time will work, just need the right format. Procedure worked wonderfully, and to avoid this issue in the future, rename the file BEFORE you backup using twrp interface. I have not tested using twrp to rename AFTER backup, doesn't seem to be a need.

Hello guys, I have a question about the nandroid backup on Nexus 4
See I got my Nexus 4 the other day, and I flashed Clockworkmod Recovery 6.0.2.0, then I made a nandroid backup. The recovery said this backup was stored in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. But when I return to my normal system I cannot find this folder(using root explorer). I can see that 1 or 2G space was used by something but I cannot find this folder no matter how, although this folder does exist. Later I found out that Rom Manager can get access to this folder. So is the recovery using a special way to hide this folder or what? Hope you guys can tell me something about this. Many thanks XD

Look in /data/media/Clockworkmod.
NOT the /sdcard/data, but in system root.
This recovery folder is only accessible by Clockwordmod when it is running. It cannot be displayed in file explorers for safety reasons, such as accidental deletion. But this folder can be accessed with a PC when your phone is connected to it, in order to take a backup of the folder. Hope this helps

No you don't as the data partition is separate from the backup folder. But just to be sure, make a backup of your backup on your PC :cyclops:

Is this directory stored on the internal storage? In other words, when I do a wipe to I flash a rom, would this directory be included in that wipe? I mean, it sounds like a stupid question. And I would expect it to be located in the internal storage, but I don't wanna do a wipe and install the rom and now I'm stuck without my backup.

I never tried but there is an app called "Nandroid Manager" in Playstore which seems to do that.
If not working, you can search "extract from nandroid backup" in google, there are many other people asking the same question

well i bought nandroid manager and he do the trick but now i have a problem...can't find where are the data from the"NOTEBOOK" app stored????
any1 can help?
I am not sure at all but I found this folder using an explorer:
/data/user/0/com.lge.Notebook/databases
I have created a new note in Notebook app, and the files timestamps in this folder have changed.
Maybe you should try to replace them with your old files and see if that works.

The notes you had made on our previous notebook should be in the android/data folder

Yes, sorry, I found them in sdcard/Android/data/com.lge.Notebook/files. So, they will not be in the nandroid backup except if you backuped ext sdcard too. It is strange if they have disappeared though (except if the location has changed between JB and KK).

no nandroids are for backing up the rom you were using at that moment(so that it may be restored if needed), and the things that can be restored from it are mainly apps/themes/system files that you had been running
