Expanding Your Screen - Moto X General

I did this today and I am so happy i did. I hid my nav bar using this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
and now if i want to access it i just swipe up it makes my screen look so much bigger and recommend everyone gives it a try

I saw this app a while ago and I was insanely looking for it but couldn't remember its name. The one I saw however left a quick-access button to the buttons functions on the corner of the screen, don't know if it is this one. Thanks anyway!

The best thing to happen to Android. Combine this with No Nav Bar using XPosed, and you'll never go back to using the standard buttons again

Gravity box alone does this...

Gravity Box can add that circle launcher thing too. I forget what it's called in there though.

But can GravityBox add a second layer of pie for custom apps, or custom keys (for example to turn the screen off)? Can it have status info such as notifications and time displayed above the pie (so that I can get rid of it from the status bar)? Does it enable you to use custom icons for those softkeys?
Those of you who haven't tried LMT should really give it a go.

Even pie isn't as good as LMT.

While I do like lmt don't get me wrong. I have one issue that's been bothering me, no outlines on pie, can't figure that out or color options for that. And it will not get out of notification while it's on. Looked through all options.

I found the app I was talking about. It's Handy Soft Keys. I'm using it together with the GMD Auto Hide PRO version to hide the soft keys.
Haven't seen that the Gravity Box did that, so I purchased the GMD PRO. :silly:

As much as I want to love the pie controls for their space saving properties, the trigger points aren't reliable enough for me and it gets aggravating when I have to swipe a second time. Plus, having a dedicated nav bar is quicker and more convenient.
Have only tried gravity box so far, so other pie implementations might behave differently.

Do you think it's worth paying the $3.63 to hide the bottom red bar?

Glad you liked it. LMT is probably the first app I install after rooting any Android phone. Try adding a second layer of Pie for custom apps, or custom icons. I am yet to touch my sleep/wake button thanks to LMT. Theres so much you can do with it. Starting to sound like a salesman now
If you mean the notification on top of the pie, then just disable the Show Status Infos in the Settings tab

Brightness slider on the notification bar

The GS1 and GS2 had the ability to adjust the screen brightness by sliding your finger across the notification bar. I've seen that in some GS3 custom roms, this feature was added. You had the ability to toggle this feature on or off under a certain subsetting in settings.
Is there a way to add this feature without loading a custom rom? I use it every day on my Epic. Thanks
I really miss this option also!
I think the only way we will be able to get this back is through a custom ROM.

This feature alone will drive me to a custom ROM, but only after the capability to wipe flash counter and go back to stock, in case of warranty need.

Dear sir:
As you may be aware of, due to recent litigation against Samsung USA, the courts have upheld Apple's patent on rounded corners in all present and future mobility devices. We respectfully request that you do not download, distribute or promote the use of anything that produces rounded corners with anything other than an Apple approved device. Failure to comply will result in a multitude of rabid, foaming Apple fanboys being sent to correct the issue.

Use a third party launcher they will have a black bar, at least that's how it is on my Nexus 4 running 4.4.
Or if you have a Nexus 4 and running custom rom or Xposed modules, you can set the status bar and navbar to be transparent, switch to a third party launcher, and blacklist that launcher using RoundR Extrensions, of course you'll lose the Okay Google in the process.
The app's blacklisting the Google launcher itself doesn't work right now.
This app is pretty awesome! If only the notification could do something useful like battery life or something and if it worked with the transparent bottom nav bar I would totally keep it!
This app works great when opening apps, and the status/nav bars turn black. The dev should have the option not to enable on homescreen and only activate when apps are open. (if its possible) then this would be a beauty.

Couldn't agree more.
The reasons I installed custom roms in the past were to increase battery life, install some feature that was missing from my device, or run smoother.
The maxx has everything I need. There aren't any features out there I'm dying to get. Google has solved that with updating through play store. My battery life is nothing short of incredible. I have mobile hotspot thanks to root. And this phone just runs great. No lag at all.
I'm happy with root access on this device. It's amazing

I had thoughts about that too, but I haven't noticed any difference in battery life. I don't activate too many of the options, like coloring, so that might have something to do with it. I might try disabling it for a week and see if anything is different. If I do, and notice anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

I don't know of about you guys but my phone is horribly laggy right out of the box. I'm on the very first version of the software as I have frozen OTAs. I frequently get sent to other apps or the home screen even if I go really slow when multitasking between apps. This phone is just not that fast and I suspect it's Verizon plastering a thousand apps on the phone as usual.
I have frozen and or deleted every single thing Verizon that I could find but I still suspect there is some crap somewhere hogging resources. I guess it COULD be the phone but I highly doubt it.

I have to second that. I was concerned moving to this phone that it would be slower than my GS4, but I have been very pleased with the responsiveness. No problems at all.
I am rooted, using gravity box, and have bloatware frozen, but even before that it ran extremely well.

how to down load themes

I demoed a G6 at Tmobile the other day and saw how to download themes for it. Now on my new G6 from Verizon I don't have the shortcut on the home screen for the LG smart world or whatever and in the settings i can change themes but there's no button to click to download more. I know I clicked one on the demo one at Tmobile. Did Verizon strip us the option for more themes?
Just go to play store and search for lg g6 themes. There's only 5 or 6 right now but there are some very good ones. Some free some paid.

I looked for LG Smart World in the play store but they didn't have it. So i would have to look in the Play Store for themes mixed in with all the other themes for other phones and launchers to find what I'm looking for? I was hoping for a proper app to look at just the themes for this phone. Like on the GS7. They have a built in theme browser for just themes compatible with that phone.
edit: I went to the website for Smart World and it says it's only compatible with LG smartphones and tablets blah blah blah. WTF? I am using a LG Smartphone. What a BS experience.
I tried pasting the link for you. But did not work. Google lg smart world and it'll link you to the app on their OFFICIAL site and you can install from there for easy theme browsing. Seems Verizon did take it off unknown why.

@railfan-eric - when you access Settings->Display->Theme do you see the arrow that's circled in the picture below, and if you do, did you tap it to see if LG World downloads to your phone?

No it's on there on the Verizon phone. They took it off for some reason. I have the Verizon g6. Had to do the manual install just now. Weird but after installing it. Yes the download arrow is now there
Weird. How did you get the links to work on the website? Did you do it from you phone or download from the computer then copy to the phone?

try this link but again you'll have to go Settings--->General --> fingerprints & security, scroll down and select "unknown sources"

It does? I wondered about that. I might install Nova later on. I used it before and on my Nexus 7 right now.

Yeah work great. To get the themed settings, dialer and notification area. Than you can use nova to get whatever icon themes this like. Plus nova is much faster than the stock LG launcher.
Do the themes change the dialer screen theme / colors?

Some of them. One of the themes i got I thought i liked but then i noticed the settings menu wasn't themed with matching colors. I can't remember what else wasn't colored.
