Hi everyone. I have zero experience in programming and looking for somewhere to start!
How can i create an UI that have some buttons to send out a pre-made SMS command?
Is it possible to detect specific word after receiving a SMS and an indicator will change color in the UI. Example "Gas is detected" and when the keyword gas is found the indicator will change color (green to red).
The apps i want to create is something like SMS Remote control - 2.channel apps

Hello.
Just wish to know is there any guide on tweaking the reg.key for some system setting, for example, to change the colour of the text at the today screen, etc.
Thanks

Sure just search the site. An example for the start menu can be found in the following thread:

Thanks.
Is there a list that show the various keywords for the various setting, i.e. the colour of each element, the timing setting, etc ?
Thanks.
Raymond
Do you think it would be possible to even change menu langage in the reg.key?
What I want to change is for ex. the pre made alternatives that you can use when edeting a new task "call", "meet", "update", etc.
I would like to have those in Swedish, may that be possible?

Johnny
Something I really miss on the Blackstone is an icon highlighting the phone is currently set to divert calls.
Over the wkend I neglected to cancel divert and only noticed today that I had a voice msg on my 2nd phone - which is more robust for MTB'g
I've searched but couldn't find much of use.
Is is possible to have an icon displayed in the top bar ? Or adjust the notification led to another colour (blue perhaps) ? Or perhaps it's just not possible and is another WinMo "feature"
I would second this. The only place I know it shows is the dialer.
If there is a status call (I use WAD2) I can create my own icons...
Regards
Hi, I haven't seen anyone posting information about this here, so in case somebody is interested in disabling the HTC volume control by bringing back the classic "baloon-style" one and/or enabling classic responce to the click in the taskbar area, here is how this can be done:
Bring back classic volume control:
Under HKLM\Services\HTCVOLUME find a value called "DLL" and delete or rename it to some other name. Reboot the device.
Classic notifications:
Under HKLM\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER find a value called "DLL" and delete or rename it to some other name. Reboot the device.
If you're changing both, no need to do a reboot in between. Only one is required. Attached are the screenshots to demonstrate the end result.
NOTE: If you don't disable HTC notification manager, then you won't be able to click the volume icon in the task bar to adjust the volume. Only volume buttons on the left side will work.
Awesome find on the classic task bar mate... its enabled the full use of one of my programs.... many thanks.. (and if you dont mind I have linked this find on another site regarding the program I use so others can benefit)...
I wonder why would you want this ?
How do you disable the keyboard sound when dialing without disabling the SMS sound notification?
It's driving me nuts.
Thanks!

Because the new HTC system of taskbar which brings up the task list instead of the classic bubble disables some programs full functions... I use a program that enables a pop up to translate chinese text and it doesnt work with the new HTC task bar, but with the classic enabled it works fine and I would much rather have full functionality of that program than the fancy new gimmick...

To add to that, I personally don't like that a simple volume adjustment or click on task bar hijack the whole screen. I guess, old habbits die hard.
I also didn't like that new SMS notification does not have "dismiss" and "save as read" options, only "hide". It turned out that this was caused by yet another HTC customization. (Dear HTC, this "improvement" is just pathetic.)
See this thread if you're interested in how to do that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6068461
I'm trying to add rotation and that mini-volume thingy to AutoMapa, a Polish GPS application.
The problem is, the window name is along the lines of Automapa10_9944sd_asff... you get the idea? It's long, filled with brackets and other strange characters, and generally, while customization apps will detect it with their usuall "shake" option, the end result is that I can't get rotation and volume to work with this app.
What's the standard procedure in case of such fiddly apps?
Come on guys / gals... please.
Is there any way to use a wildcard perhaps? I'd really like to get this app under control...
Hi,
I just did my first steps in Android programming. And what is better to learn by improving something that you dislike?
So I changed a very tiny thing: the SMS/MMS app's "Send" button.
It now shows from the beginning the remaining letters of an SMS. All this appears on the "Send" button now (below the "Send", just like the text when you send an MMS).
I put a screenshot of before/after into the attachment, so please take a look and tell me what you think. Does this make sense? Should I make something of this configurable? Any further suggestions?
I did this primarily to learn a bit about Android, but now I'd like to go further. So any comment welcome
My thanks go to olearyp from the CM IRC channel
Cheers
Chris
Love it! Big help, for sure. Is it for the black background mod/CM MMS app?

I've looked at the patch, and it should require minimal massaging to apply to irrenhaus-based messaging apps. Most of the actual message entry code appears to be unchanged or nearly so from the AOSP version.
Message code is indeed completely unchanged.
I'd like to know if you think that I should add preferences for this like enable/disable it or configure the number of letters before it kicks in. But maybe that would be too much for such a tiny feature.
EDIT:
Now I see what you mean with black background mod: The thing that is on my mobile and enables me to activate a "fullscreen" keybord which disables the "remaining letters" display completely. I'll rebase my changes against CM sources. They are currently against the original ones.
Thanks for the feedback so far!
Cheers
Chris
Patch available
The patch is in the review now, if anyone wants to take a look on it. I'm a new user so I can't post links yet, but it's on the CM reviewboard as number 686.
Cheers,
Chris
nice work ^_^
Nice work papillon81, very usefull
Hopefully they can put this in a nightly.
Can you implement an option that let's you choose with which app you want to send the sms, when pressing the send button or the button for new message?
I use websms for sending sms, but want to use the stock sms app for reading. It's a bit annoying to go back to homescreen and than open the websms app everytime.
Best implementation would be that when you press new message it just asks, if you want to use stock sms app or websms (if installed). For the send button in the message threads it would be nice that it asks and when websms is chosen, it copies the typed text and the recepient to websms (if possible).
Well, the best option would be to use the stock SMS app for reading and writing and supply different backends so that you can send SMS via your provider as well as via an internet service.
The patch is still in review, so if you like it, comment on reviewboard, too
