So, I used an old version of a hotspot mod and now I can't use Odin to install the stock ROM. Can anyone assist? It keeps telling me it fails.
Will it boot at all? What release are you on? What recovery do you have? If available, have you tried to restore from a nandroid backup?

I'm on 4.3
It boots, stalls on the Sprint logo.
Tried to flash a new rom, failed
Nandroid, failed
Recovery through odin, Failed.
Pull down the stock 4.3/MJA Samsung Rom and try to odin that over.

i tried downgrading my firmware to mf8..and the modem was flashed as well.
When i checked the imei it was null.
so i went on to restore it using method 2 on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632&page=6
After i put everything into the terminal and it was restored, i rebooted my phone.
Now my phone is stuck at samsung boot logo!!
i tried restoring from my nandroid backup but it didnt work..still stuck at boot logo, i tried restoring the rom to stock, still stuck at boot logo.
Basically no matter what i do, its not booting and its stuck at boot logo.
I can access download mode and cwm recovery. On stock recover i get the error message "failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)"
is there anything i can do at all?
i still have multiple backups of my efs folder..i just dont know how to restore it

Tried that, still no luck
You can try via kies. Do not connect the phone yet. Pull the battery out and use the information you can see there. Ooen kies Go to upgrade settings and find the one that ask you for your model. Fill the blank, then enter your s/n. A window will show up asking you again. Accept. And kies is suppose to start dowloading the firmware. Make sure to conect the device in dowload mode before it finishs dowloading.
Im not saying it gonna work 100% for you but i had restore a couple samsung devices using this method.
I prefer odin btw.

Tried this, didnt work.
I've had the issue with being stuck on the boot screen before - and it was because I wasn't deleting my cache before flashing the new firmware. Do this from within recovery :good:

Hi my nexus 4 is unlocked and has cm10.2 installed on it. I decided to update to cm11 4.4 and i got the correct gapps and rom and i backed it up in cwm. When i tried to flash cm11, an error came up and it turned out to be my cwm not being updated. So i tried to restore it to and i got a md5 mismatch error. So now im stuck in cwm. HELP
You can always flash back to stock and start over.

is there any other way out?
I find going back to stock and starting over is best because there are excellent instructions for flashing back to stock, rooting, and installing TWRP.
Do you have any ROM installed? You could try installing an updated CWM, install CM10.2 again, and then try to restore your backup.
just download a updated cwm .img and flash using fastboot.
Ok, so I flashed a custom rom and kernal and all went wel except my contacts didn't sync. I couldn't pull them from my Nandroid or my Tibu backup. So I tried to flash the backup I did last night and it failed. So I tried to flash another backup from earlier and it said successful in TWRP but it wouldn't boot after. I tried to go back into recovery only to realize that I no longer have my custom recovery. I do have a working stock recovery though.I'm kind of in a jam here and really need the help guys. I probably should have just cut my losses with the contacts.
More details. I flashed Danv's ASOP Kitkat 4.4 with the latest Ktoonez kernal successfully. I tried to recover my stock rooted 1337m 4.3 rooted with Saferoot. It won't boot into it. Maybe the difference in kernal has an issue with that or would that have been taken care of in my Nandroid flash?
Going forward, I'm thinking about another factory wipe and going into download mode with Odin and flashing my stock 1337m firmware to the phone and booting up. I'm just looking for a little direction here since I got in a bit over my head. I thought I did it all by the book by doing a Nandroid, and Tibu backup, and backing Tibu up to Google drive and my SD card, but clearly something didn't go right and now I'm on the ropes. I just want a working phone again. I can't sleep lol. I'm serious.
Tough crowd eh? So I'm hanging at my boot screen after successfully restoring my Nandroid backup in TWRP. I've lost my custom recovery but I got root before I did through TWRP. If I did a factory reset in the stock recovery, could this potentially fix my boot hang? Or is flashing back to stock 4.3 in Odin the only option? Or is there another method I can force it to boot? I'l be honest: not having my custom recovery and going into the unknown is nerve racking here knowing I don't have my get out of **** card to save my ass. Can I push my Nandroid backup and relfash it through Odin?

Tbh I would flash back to stock via a verified stock fw via odin, Reroot, reinstall cwm/twrp, and then flash rom from that point.
Ive never had luck recovering backups cross rom. Whether Nandroid or tb.

I want to downgrade my defy+ from CM11 to stock android.
Before update the recovery and install CM11 i made a backup with CWM and now i want to restore this backup.
How can i do this? Can i install CWM using the kitkat on my phone?
Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm afraid of doing something wrong.

I have discovered that I need it too because my phone is loked and, to enter my carrier unlock code, i need to restore my backup made with CWM.
Looking for the same.
Yesterday i have installed 2ndInit to get back CWM recovery and restore my original stock ROM image.
Android can not complete the full boot, showing the intro of my carrier during a hour while loading Android.
Reinstalled TWRP and recovered my CM11 backup.
I will try again and, if not suceded, i will flash my carrier SBF to unlock my phone.
I will inform any news about CWM restore stock ROM.

I think this happens because the roms use different file systems
Try the Aroma Wiper to change the file system:

I'll try this, but now i'm without time, then i report if it work.
I got my phone working.

About revert to stock ROM, only doing a factory reset to format my data partition fix the boot (I did not try AROMA or safewipe.zip).
I do not tried to restore data from my stock dump after got my phone working because it was not my objective, but i think that it is possible and simple after get it working.
Thanks.

Help please how do I factory reset this or do I flash with the stock firmware?
I messed around with the files in the app settings while it was rooted I think I deleted an app.
Now I rebooted and showing me com.android.phone has stopped.
I tried to go to twrp recovery and I did wipe data and it still showing it.
I still have TWRP A520F recovery on it.
Should I flash with the stock rom?
What do I do?
If you're unsure of what it is you deleted or don't have a backup to restore it, then reflash rom in twrp or stock firmware with odin is your options.
