I have tried to disable everything and even did a hard reset while disabling all unnecessary "functions" that samsung and google adds, but still when using the phone with screen on and just browsing reddit Android OS is above Screen and all other apps. While the phone is off it never hits deep sleep and is usually 90% awake.
I have disabled Samsung Push Service, but haven't seen any improvement. I have disabled Location Services and all the other stuff suggested in other threads with no luck.
I have attached AlarmManager.txt since that's what other people suggest, but I cannot understand how to properly read the file.
If anyone can help me fix this battery drain, it would help me a lot. Thanks.
Try wakelock detector to see which app/process is puling down the battery power.
My phone had the same problem last few days.
However i just format the internal storage & reflash os. I don't really care as i've backed up my apps using TB.
At least it solve mine.
What solved it for me was a complete wipe, flash back to stock then install recovery and custom rom. Not had any issues since. - think it's an anomaly within the OS.

Before you do a reset, just try out the search Funktion in this forum.
Reset won't help!

Already did that in the first 30 minutes of googling. I don't want to root because I will lose my warranty. My colleague's Note 3 is a bit older on the same firmware, but has absolutely no battery drain. He's had his phone on for soon 2 days and it still had 30% of battery left. What could this mean? I have disabled everything he has and it still made no difference.
May be this will help.

I did the same. It worked for 45 minutes straight (80% deep sleep, 20% awake), then when I woke the phone up after those 45 minutes to check battery stats and turned the screen off manually again, it stopped deep sleeping right that moment.

in this case check your phone, what app you've installed, what app has auto-sync.... blah blah...

My stats after whole night is 3% awake, with 10 hours of deep sleep and 20 minutes wake time.
May be there is an application causing problem. Check with WLD and remove the one with more wake time.

Hi Muhammad, when I use WLD or Betterbattreystats I usually get nlpwakeclock collector or another wakeclock, it never specifies if a certain app is causing it to stay awake.
Any suggestions on what to do to find out?

No solution. After 4 hours idle I only have 65% left and android OS is the biggest culprit above screen on. I'm thinking of trying the beta kitkat rom.
I solved my battery drain by disabling google location access - for some reason google services continued trying to access location and were keeping the device awake, an hour of idle leached away like 5% of battery, which is usually what I get drained in a day. I have still left "power efficient" location to Android - using only wifi, but have disabled location in the google specific settings, then reboot and voila.
Solved for my Note 3 N9005
I tried all the gimmicks on this thread and many else. Even turning everything off (and thus crippling the functionality of the phone) didn't help.
Then I tried a couple of battery saver apps and one of them seems to have done the trick.
Easy Battery Saver.
Now there's no 'keep awake' time in Battery -> Android OS. None.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, it's a good idea to try apps (if they help) that non-rooted users can try. What kind of settings are you using with Easy Battery Saver?
Took me a while to figure it out but for me Sview case is causing big Android OS battery drain on 4.3. It keeps running a w1_bus_master1 process that tops cpu usage and is draining the battery. You can see it if you enable show cpu usage in developer options. I guess its used to detect opening and closing the case but its usage is insane. As soon as i take the case off the process is gone and Android OS stops eating the battery.

Normally, after work, my battery would be around 85%, but all of a sudden, yesterday, my battery after work was only 24%. I am not sure what is the cause of this behavior. I installed apps like tripit, travelsafe, skyscanner, onthefly, but I don't think that should cause this.
I have tried the battery removal trick, but it hasn't worked. The phone wakes up every few minutes and therefore, drains a lot of battery. Could someone offer good insight into what is causing this and how to solve this permanently? Thanks.

According to the tings I've read, you should always unlock the screen before removing the charger and if the problem persists just do a reboot.
That's what always works for me - on Speedmod kernel.
I'm on sppedmod kernel and sometimes will not go into deep sleep...phone will get very hot in my pdocket which to me is a sign that its not going into deep sleep. ill then do a reboot and monitor thru cpuspy. reboot works but I've not found a permanent solution as yet.

Thanks for your replies, but unfortunately, rebooting hasn't worked for me.
What else can I do? Please do not suggest formatting or wiping anything, as it would be too much of a pain to do with my current configuration.
Perhaps you can try to - flash abyss 3.9 for GB - run that jbroid kernel cleaning - reflash your kernel.

Have you tried going to Airplane mode only? If you haven't done that, then try to see if you can turn your phone mode off and observe if your still getting the high battery drainer issue.
One of the big drainers in the battery are your high percentage screen output. If you got a high screen % output that means you got wakelocks and it's being triggered by an app/s on your phone.
See if you can disable one by one those apps you mentioned above, charge up your phone to say 10 to 15 mins, take out the charger, set screen timeout (on settings to 15 secs) and turn off the screen and set your phone to airplane mode off. Observe for an hour without using it.
Note the percentage on your Screen from the time you took out the charger to the time you check back (after an hour) to see if it had gone down already.
Cheers/
Hi,
ICS has this 200 MHz problem and, for the moment, there doesn't seem to be a lot to do about it. I reboot every morning after charging and I'm fine for the day.
Without getting paranoiac about your battery (you have your phone because you use/need it, not for becoming a world champion in Deep Sleep ), mind what you install.
I usually "lose" between 1~2% capacity/hour and manage to run it a whole day with ~60% of the battery (WiFi, BT and GPS active). Yesterday I installed some Security thing and jumped to 4~5% immediately. It also caused constant 200 MHz mode and reboot didn't change a thing.
I dumped it this morning and am fine again. Here's my situation after 3h48m of activity today, I have 88% left
(Sorry for the big picture but I don't manage otherwise )
I keep my GNote as standard as I can and just verify briefly, with CPU Spy if everything is fine after installation of a new App. If it's no good I delete it and that's it.
Thanks everyone for the replies. Without quoting everyone, let me say I have tried all the tests you guys suggested. I have tried the airplane method, rebooting, monitoeing for apps, etc. I dont have latitude so didn't try that method. I also reinstalled speedmod k3-3 kernel last night.
I upload there images: system battery info., cpuspy and betterbaterystats. It seems, for now, my phone IS doing a little better with going into deep sleep. Unfortunately, I don't know which method worked, so I don't have a definite solution for anyone suffering from the same issue. As an observation, my phone used to go into deep sleep mode much more than it does now.
Edit: I have attached the following five screenshots to be analyzed. It seems the issue is not solved yet, and the phone still doesn't go into deep sleep the way it should. Could someone help point out from the screenshots what's going on? Thanks.

In your screenshots you have WiFi running for a lengthy period.
WiFi is notorious for eating the Battery.
Only use it when you actually need it.
The only contradiction to this is when you are actually using WiFi for an extensive period (do not include turning off the screen and leaving WiFi running in this description) it is kinder on the Battery than a Data Plan.
Also, as jpmiv mentions.... don't just remove the Battery (which I note you have already tried this method) but again as jpmiv mentions leave the Battery out of your Note for a short while before reinserting. It will clear away any residual memory on the Note.

I put the phone last night into airplane mode, turned it off and charged it for several hours.I'll test how it works today and post the results. If it doesn't show any signs of improvement, I will try your recommended method.
For historical information, I did try removing the battery for more than 10 mins, but did not charge it while it was turned off after inserting the battery. As I said, I will try your method after some testing today.

It's definitely your WiFi which is the main culprit.
Look at the WiFi Running and wlan_rx_wake
Have you turn off your WIFI dude?
Judging on the screenshots you made... your WIFI has been ON for a lengthy of time and anyone knows that if you enable your WIFI, it's surely going to eat most of your battery.
Try to see if you turn it off, and see if there's a considerable on your phone's battery after.

Yes, wifi is on, but what I should have mentioned is that I used to have a much better deep sleep time even with wifi on before last Friday when the issue began showing up. Also note that the wifi was on only because I was home - when I am at work, I am on data connection.
Is there anything else in terms of apps that you find unusual or the cause of the issue? Something is waking up my Note more often than it used to.

I am facing a huge battery drain as well after the recent update was pushed. I don't have the "diagnostics.client.Wakelock" in BBS but Samsung Push Service was hogging a lot so I turned that off. It was 80% at 11PM and today morning it was down to 59% .. that's 21% in standby mode. Is it not going into sleep mode or is something else causing this? I have almost everything turned off. Any ideas guys? Thank you.
MJ7? (not sure why but like other people remarked - the battery life looks to have somewhat declined - 30-60% less?)

Yes MJ7. I hope this is a bug that can get fixed sooner than later. It's horrible. I just got 1h 37mins of screen time and now I am down to 12%. Just a few calls and some Instagram. Nothing else. Would removing the battery for a while or something help? I haven't installed any app since updating to MJ7 (2 days ago).
I've had this issue with MI7 and MJ7 so the update is not the problem. My guess is me freezing most of the samsung bloat on the phone through Titanium is causing this. Maybe there's a process trying to find something thay I froze?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I fixed it by charging my battery up to 90% then removed the battery and kept it aside for a while ~10 mins and then plugged it back in and charged it to 100%. Now it seems to be normal again. No drain last night. Moved only 1% from 12AM to 9PM. Cheers!
I have the same issue with MJ7 firmware; the phone sometimes doesn't get into deep sleep while the screen is off.
A possible cause of the issue: switch off wifi when data are off.
So now I switch data on before turning wifi off.
Anyone ever find a solution to this? It's killing me.
Same here, my battery declines almos 1% every 5 minutes just texting via Whatsapp and I know Whatsapp is not the guilty. Using Wakelock monitor shows 30% Android System usage with a lot of entries in Gpslocationprovider (even with GPS off and everything on Location settings off), SyncloopWakelock and AlarmManager... MJ7 here too... My Note2 wasn't like this... I finished the day with 5% of baterry after heavy use from 8am til 10pm (including 45' watching videos)... With my Note3 at mid-day I have my battery death!! I can't believe it! and I don't know what is happening (I only have 4 days with my new Note 3) and I have tried almost everything (deactivating) except wipe data/factory reset (I've tried soft reset and nothing)
Anyone ever find a solution to this wakelock?

I noted that my GN3 would have great and then poor battery drainage. It seemed to happen right after my first long call of the day. I noted in my wakelock app that diagnostics.client.wakelock was using a lot of time.
I decided to take more drastic action by doing a factory reset and restoring apps one by one. I first used Kingo Root to root my GN3. I had to uninstall Kies and the Samsung driver to get the rooting to work.
Then I backed up with Helium and Titanium backup.
After a factory reset, my battery usage was about 0.2 percent per hour. I use only data and no wifi.
I have now restored most of my apps and still have 0.3 percent per hour usage. I have not updated any Samsung or ATT apps.except for ATT code scanner. i have not "used" any of the google apps except for gmail, search, google+ (signed out). Google music is turned off.
Diagnostics.client.wakelock still shows up but with low time now.
After twelve hours, the GN3 is at 96 percent including a two minute phone call and email updates.
------
After a long phone call, I once again saw my battery usage increase and stay up after the phone call.
-----
I re-started with a factory reset and only restored the minimum apps that I use to browse, email, text, phone, and backup.
So far it is performing well in battery usage.
I will be adding more apps until I find the one that breaks the good performance.
-----
So far I have been able to make it through 24 hours using only TEN percent battery usage. I have added TextPlus, BofA, drippler, Helium, Titanium Backup Pro, CPU Spy Plus, Wakelock Detector, System Tuner Pro, Battery Monitor Pro, AutoBluetooth, Maps, Youtube, YP, Total Commander, Visual Voicemail, Quick Boot, Root Checker, Turn Off Screen. Everything else is stock without updating AT&T apps or Samsung apps.
I am seeing an idle usage of less than 0.3% and that is with two widgets for Battery Monitor and System Tuner. They and Textplus use up the most power. I also talked on the phone via bluetooth for about 30 minutes.
I still get the diagnostic.client.wakelog but only getting about 5 percent awake time.
-----
I did another factory reset. This time I did not allow any app updates.
I installed Titanium Backup, CPU Spy Plus, Wakelock Detector, Battery Monitor Widget Pro.
I have not seen a diagnostic.client.wakelock at all after one hour of use.
-----
I added TextPlus, System Tuner Pro. I put the widgets to System Tuner pro and Battery Monitor on the home screen.
I have not updated any apps since the reset.
I have counted about 7 diagnostic.client.wakelocks for a total of 4 seconds of wake time. My wake time percentage since yeaterday is around 1 percent.
I plan to update apps one at a time to see which one kills the battery usage with wake locks.
I just added AT&T Visual Voicemail, PayPal, BofA, and Evernote to my GN3.
The diagnostics.client.wakelock started climbing and keeping my phone from sleeping.
Uninstalling the four apps did not help.
I think that the problem is with the Visual Voicemail.
----
Factory reset my phone and am back to 1 percent wake state and very low battery drain.
----
The cause of the bad wakelock was due to restoring APP+DATA in Titanium Backup. I did that to save setup steps.
I had restored BofA and Shazam with data and the wakelocks started up.
After I factory reset again, I installed apps the normal way and have been seeing a 0.3 percent use per hour.
Samsung's own software is most garbage in my opinion.
If you use ChatOn and Samsung Hub, etc, disabling this may have an impact.
Here's how I've solved the problem with this pig of an app.
1) go to application manager under settings.
2) go to the "ALL" tab
3) find that "samsung push service"
4) uninstall - this will only uninstall the updates. Once all the very useful updates are gone, the option changes to disable.
5) disable and good riddance.
On a side note, search for this on the playstore. the reviews are hilarious.
c.
Nothing I had tried up to today has fixed my battery drain and diagnostics.client.wakelock issue.
However, today, I got a software update OTA (nb4) on my phone and it appears the problem is fixed.

on 4.3 screen time with the lowest Brightness i lost 1 percent every 10 minutes. now i loose 3% with same brightness level. 3 percent every 10 minutes.

on 4.3 screen time with the lowest Brightness i lost 1 percent every 10 minutes. now i loose 3% with same brightness level. 3 percent every 10 minutes.
Android OS and Android System are always on top of screen in the battery Graph. i
media is also on top of the screen in the battery graph.
have tried a lot of solutions and factory reset with no luck at all. ( i have placed the device with Airplane mode with no SUCCESS )
installed a lot of battery analyzer apps did not have a clue who's eating all the Juice.....
any idea how to fix this??

No wakelocks in BBS?
Install Better Battery Stats. Leave the screen off for 1 hour and tell us what the top Kernel Wakelocks are.

Partial Wakelocks are usually caused by apps running in the foreground. There's usually not much you can do about that. If you are actually using the phone, battery will run out. What you need to find out is what happens when you are not using the phone.
Do this:
1) Charge the phone to 100%. Disconnect the cable.
2) Let the phone sit idle for 1-2 hours with screen off.
3) Get Kernel Wakelocks from Better Battery Stats.
Then you'll know what's eating your battery when you are not actually using the phone.
In my case, I get ril-fd, l2-hsic and wlan_rx_wake wakelocks the most. I know the causes, but I can't do anything about them without rooting.

thanksssssss
ill check that for sure... but just to know, can i disable any of these (ril-fd, l2-hsic and wlan_rx) incase they were the problem?
im rooted on Leaked 4.4.2
im losing only 1 to 2 % in idle, way better then JB, but interactive use sucks the soul out of it. rarely pass 30 hours of use.
Im not getting anything

I've noticed the first 10 percent (from 100 to 90) go away fast as hell. Use your phone as you would today, just make sure you have enough juice by the end of the day. Leave it as it is overnight and then post your screenshots.. You don't seem to have any wakelocks so your battery shouldn't be draining.. Mine is going like 1% for 8 hours or something, the problem starts when I turn me screen on lol!
I had this problem on my all my Samsung device
the only solution was to take out the battery for a few seconds
worked for me on
note 2 and 3
s4 9505 and 9500

i am loosing more than1.5% per hour where on stand by mode... everything is switched of.f im surprised there is no wakelocks showing... ill wait till the end of the day.
its been 4 hour since last charge and now im on 93%..
im assuming the drain is happening due to the bad reception where i am at.
how do you manage 1% per 8 hours that's Awesome (knock on wood) .. is this with WIFI and Data on?
i don't understand ... how come i have no wakelock after screen off.. and my battery draining 1.5 % per hour on stand by mode.... and android Os always on top ?
BBM.
And I haven't done anything special, actually you have to do something to NOT get great battery life while idle. After a factory reset, nothing disabled (so G+, G search and all those wake cycles still present) with WiFi off and Mobile Data ON I lost the usual 1 to 2% per 8 hour sleep. The problem starts for me when I turn on my screen, not when it's turned off

What are the causes for wlan rx wake? 12hsic is related to mobile data i guess.

It's caused by broadcast packets sent by other devices in your network waking the phone up. The solution is to install a custom kernel that filters such packets.
Hey guys. First proper charge from around 3% too 100% and I'm getting battery drain already, I thought this issue was resolved in lollipop? Not the mention the emense heat that comes off of this device
Check out the picture and get back to me. Thanks.
Jack
Same thing is happening to me... I don't find that the drain is really so bad, as I still get pretty great battery life, but does appear that this issue is still present in lollipop. Seems pretty wide spread among Android users.
I had an iphone for about 5 months. Went back to android and the problem still persists I got 3.5 hours of screen on time yesterday. Take a look at this
Also getting battery drain, the main offender seems to be the "mobile standby" which is always around 50-65% for me.

I think this was an error in reporting in the stock firmware, I haven't had a problem with the battery, in fact it's been really good. Since updating to B132 (GRA-L09) the battery usage seems to be reported correctly.
Interesting, I'm not sure what the normal drain should be then. My HTC One had a pretty good battery life, but it seems with this phone the battery drains quite fast when I'm using Chrome and WhatsApp etc. The power saver reports Chrome uses a max of around 10% but the rest use very little %, yet it seems I'm using around 30-40% of the battery in around half an hour.
Do you think using a custom rom (when they become available) would be any different?
Not sure if a custom rom would help. Are you rooted? If so you should have a look at betterbatterystats which should show you what's using up the battery.
When I'm mostly on wifi I can get 5 hours of screen time with 32+ hours running time.
i have the same problem with the "mobile standby" batery drain
i did a clear data/cache then factory reset, and now it's ok
androyd system still drain batery pretty much
sorry for my bad english

Was going to wait for a few roms to be released before rooting, but the battery life seems so poor I think I'll do it just to find out.
I've had the same Problem with the battery drain and analysed this with the Wakelock Detektor (needs root). Cause was the "NlpWakeLock" thats part of the Google Services. Then I disable the Google Location History everything went well. They are a lot of of useres, who have the same problem. The only real solution (If you want to use the Location history) is a Xposed module for that you need a working Xposed framework.
I have now disabled Google location history, hopefully this fixes the problem for me too.

Its lolipop, i think 6.0 will fix this.
So I have my phone like 4 days now and the first day I immediately noticed that when I turn off the screen it drains battery like hell (60+% in one night). It's like the cpu doesn't go to sleep at all.. Sometimes it works fine and looses like 5% at night that's fine for me but then the next day it will loose 10+ % in one hour by doing nothing...
The phone is pure stock, I changed nothing, no root or anything...
This is really annoying have no idea what it could be that drains so much battery.. Already looked if an app was draining but no...
Someone has the same problem? Or maybe knows how to fix this?
Clear the cache.
In case you don't know.
Turn phone off
Hold Home + Power + Volume Up till you see the Samsung logo, then let go of all buttons.
A menu should load - Navigate using vol keys and select using power button.
I had a similar issue and this fixed it for me.

So did it last night but changed not much at all, at most it drains 2% less an hour..
I'm thinking if factory reset would fix it but I don't really wanna do that..

There is an excellent thread on battery life for note5 which you can use to get tips for edge plus too. Here is the link :
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5/567125-note-5-battery-life-thread.html
Samsung has provided lot of inbuilt apps like Smart Manager which is like Clean Master you get in Play store.
Open Smart Manager ---> Click on Storage --> click on Detail ---> click on Cache data --> click delete to clean cache.
Lot of people downloaded Greeify, shutupp, wave lock detector and doze which actually use battery. After I uninstalled them battery life increased by 45 minutes.

I agree. Most of the apps that promise to increase battery life degrade it further. In fact, this Paranoia of ours with battery life (keep checking every 10 minutes for battery drop) affects it further.
So, I would suggest uninstall all 3rd party apps. And do not track battery life every instant. And still if you think your battery isn't lasting long enough (check On Screen Time/ Active Time at end of day), contact Samsung.
Hello there!
I had the same problem initially. I wasn't sure which app was causing. So i did a factory reset and reconfigured everything. Now all well. So i guess the best thing would be to backup everything do a factory reset. Then carefully monitor the other app you are installing. There are few that draws lot of power for location services. Then disable that S voice wake up command thingy I am guessing it runs all the time which is not so great. Don't go for Greefiy or any apps like that. Those don't do great job unless you have a Xposed running
So I tried clearing the cache but did noting. I had GPS always on I thought maybe if I turn it off but the same changed nothing.. I don't have any "battery Monitoring" or greenify like app.. Sometimes it works fine but othertimes it drains like crazy doing nothing.. I will try factory reset, hope that will fix this..
Same was here

Hello mate. I faced the same battery drain problem. It wasn't going to deep sleep when screen was off. Last night 6-7 hours screen was off but the device wasted my %19 battery so result was missing the alarm and got late to work etc. Then I rooted and flashing the Arter97 kernel solved this(Now draining about %3). The device is now sleeping deeply like a deeply sleeping baby when screen is off lol.

It's weird. Did u check the arter kernel flashed properly, cpu governor switched to interactive and 'Deep sleep' isn't in 'Unused Cpu States' ? I ask that because my device doesn't waste much battery when the device is in deep sleep(already said). Dunno man I couldn't help any more. Good luck.

Yeah flashing is ok. You can download any kernel app. I'm using Kernel Aduitor, Kcontrol, Trickster Mod Kernel Settings apps. Basically download the first one from Play Store.

So it's been a couple weeks now and I managed to get a little bit better battery life, drains 15-20% over night before it drained something like 60 70% but battery life is still poor some guys get 7 to 9h SOT I'm can be happy if I get 4 5h..
I'm running custom rom arter kernel tried everything but nothing really fixes completely my problem.. Start to think I have a faulty phone..
