Hi all. Have N9005 with MJ7 XME unit. Rooted with de LA Vega since MJ1.
I accidentally installed a 4.51MB update via OTA and have lost my root access.
Question, how can I get root access back without tripping Knox and/or downgrading to MJ1.
Appreciate any assistance relevant to the problem I have.
Thanks.

How can you OTA update if your phone has been rooted.
BTW I affraid that you can not downgrade to MJ1 as well as get root without tripping Knox atm.
you can't root without trip knox.
afaik ota is possible if he using wanam to set fake status to official.
At this point, can I still run de la vega? On an MJ7 image I downloaded?

The ONLY safe way to upgrade was with MOP... Since you did it the Samsung way you are now stuck with the updated bootloader and no way to root without tripping Knox...
How you didn't know this is beyond me since it's all over the forum....
Thanks all for the replies. My loss then for not thronging the threads.

Yes you can, although you won´t be able to flash a custom kernel/ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2479952
PS: Make sure to read the instruction and Q&As carefully before rooting!

No, unfortunately as of now it is not possible. However, you can root/flash/downgrade stock and use Xposed Framework with, e.g., Wanam Xposed.
This will not trip your Knox flag (it remains 0x0)
How if I root with the method that from your link then I install Cwm via rom manager in play store then install rom?

You don't install CWM nor do you use the ROM manager. You do exactly as described --> here <--. This is "Root de la Vega" Style by @designgears
Vega is not for N9005 yet
Now available. I was the first to use it DD

Hey guys. So basically I rooted my phone using root de la vega method keeping my knox at 0x0. I checked for new ota update and there seems to be a new one available. So my question is if I download and install the latest ota, will I lose my root? And will that also trip knox? Should I just repeat root de la vega with newer firmware? Im confused. ....

Which firmware are you in currently?
If you have rooted your phone, I strongly suggest you to stay away from OTA as it will cause issue to your phone. If you want to keep root and updated to the latest firmware, and if you are still using MJ1 or MJ3 firmware, you can try the method in the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522729
I used that method to update from MJ1 to MJ7 via MOP with root retain.

I've already stated. Safe root.

Another option is Kingo root. I used it to successfully root my sister-in-law's stock MK2 without triggering Knox.
I've used SafeRoot on my Verizon S4. Great method, great Dev

What is the best/safest root method for the SM-G900F?
You can try Towelroot.
I prefer CF-Auto Root even though it trips KNOX
what is Knox? I keep seeing it everywhere

you can see knox counter in download mode. it should be: 0x0
when you trip this counter it goes to: 0x1
with that warranty is void. well, in most parts of the world
you can trip knox counter if you flash 1) custom kernel or 2) custom recovery
Most of roms here will trip knox counter, some will not(like Neat ROM from Sale)
Hello guys.. just bought an internacional s5 unlocked from Vodafone. .. is there any step by step tutorial for flashing custom recovery and root for this model? Thx

Towelroot does not remove knox?
Have not used Towelroot myself so I cannot confirm. I've heard it does not trip KNOX if your firmware is dated June or earlier.

how to know if my firmware's date? is it the kernel version? it says Wed Jul 23
That would be part of it yes. I haven't read much into Towelroot. They could have updated it from last I heard so things could have changed there.

Yes, in some contries you lose your warranty and there is no way now to come back in knox O.

Hi guys,
I have a N910C arriving in 2 days and I'm looking for the most stable lollipop rom for it.
I found one from Poland on sammobile, but I believe it has carrier bloatware.
Also, the steps would be root, custom recovery, and flash. Am I correct?
Thanks
Yes, install that 5.0.1 from Poland and that's all...
Just Download Odin app and flash even without root.

Nope, it's official so It doesn't trip Knox counter. Also it doesn't have any kind of bloatware so flash it and enjoy your new phone!
