SlimPort not working properly - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, happy new year best wishes for all...
Im having problems with my slimport connection like some of the people in this thread:
http://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/nexus/o3LTHLbSiv0/vRa3xRaER58J
I get a random connection, i can get like 20secs of mirroring then it fail (no image mirror, no audio, just like unplug it) 5secs then is working fine again. I can get 20secs of 20min sometimes, but it fails again and reconnect. Does someone of you use slimport and hace experienced the same issue?
sorry for my bad english, is hard to explain the issue ^^

That happened to me when I used a very cheap HDMI cable from pound land. Replaced the cable with my original one and it worked fine. Also is it an original slimport or a cheap China copy as I bet cheap ones do the same.
Finally when pairing with your T.V make sure your playing something in H.D on either YouTube or video player as that helps to make a good connection.
Also only use a USB connection and cable when charging never a wall charger as that stops connection.
If you're still having problems then maybe the slimport is damaged.
If you're T.V is an old Samsung they have problems looking at the link you posted as we'll.

HDMI can't detect cable?

I've tried both the realHDMI app and the stock gallery app and nobody seems to be able to detect it. First I tried on a samsung DLP (bought it back when they didn't have HDMI) using a micohdmi to hdmi-dvi and got nothing but figured it probably wouldn't work anyway because the TV is not true hdmi, then I tried it on my new akai tv with HDMI (both apps) and a 10ft HDMI cable (i think it's a class 2.5 not sure) and the tv keep flashing blue and black like it was trying to get a single but the phone ended up saying no cable.
I thought realhdmi would have an option to "force" it on. any tips on what I can do?
Thanks for the help guys.
Also interested in fix for this..

Did you put the zoom in USB debug mode? settings/applications/developement check USB debugging
Yes, the icon is in bottom right
I think my xoom may have a problem or two...when using hdmi out watching videos then playing games....it just shut off, twice it did this and both around 5 mins of using hdmi. Now swyping through the screen is really slow...

I will confirm if the HDMI problem is usual, cause I know people have been having problems with that, I will be getting my HDMI cable in the mail soon, will let you know. I have sometimes experienced slow downs on mine as well. Have you tried formatting the Xoom?

The USB port is very weak on my Xoom (and others, I've read). You need to plug the USB cable into a MOTHERBOARD MOUNTED USB port to make it work reliably. Using a front panel USB port, or any other port that is cabled off of the motherboard, can cause problems.
I personnaly mount my xoom into the front panel USB port and have had no problems with it so far.
i too use the USB ports on the front of my tower and it works fine...
My USB cable that came with it was the problem, used a different one and it was transfering fine

Nexus crashes after connecting USB Stick

Hello!
I have a very strange problem with my nexus. I purchased an USB-adapter to connect USB-sticks to my to it (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B006TCXLF4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
As soon as I connect an USB-stick via this cable the nexus crashes. The display gets dark and it doesn't react on any input. I even can't restart it with the power-button.
Only thing I can do is to connect it to the charger, then it restarts. This happens with different sticks.
The connection works with an other adapter!
Also the comments at amazon say that the adapter works with the nexus 10.
Has anyone experienced a similar effect?
Thanks for your help!
What kernel are u on ?

I am completely stock on 4.2.2.
I am think I will send the adapter back...it must be defective - my only explanation.

[Q] HDMI hit and miss?

Why is the HDMI output so unreliable? First time a tried it, it refused to work to any extent. There was just no signal detected. I then left it for a few months and it worked the first time I plugged it in. Now yet another few months later it refuses to work again.
because for some reason google have crippled hdmi on this device, i know you have probably tried but ive had problems with some hdmi leads that have worked perfectly fine with other devices but my nexus 10 acts like the port is faulty but once you find a micro hdmi lead it likes then your problems will be over then its just a case of hoping and waiting for some sort of hdmi options and settings.
im currently using a Blue Rigger cable from Amazon and the nexus 10 is playing fine with it http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=a9_sc...words=bluerigger+micro&ie=UTF8&qid=1368533577

Samsung S8 HDMI output

I was using my Samsung Note 4 as the head unit in my car to play music from my SD card by using the HDMI out into an HDMI to optical converter and from there optical out to my processor. It turns out my Note 4 took a dump and it is totally crippled. It locks and reboots itself randomly and frequently. So I was fed up and got a new S8. Today I received the USB Type-C MHL cable for the S8 and no cigar. The last time I had the same issue was when I was trying to get started with my Note 4 and the fix then was to just turn off bluetooth and it was fine. The S8 doesn't care that the bluetooth is on or off, it will not send the signal either way. For what is worth, the converter box is getting power with the new cable as the LED lights up, I think the issue must be with some phone setting. Has anyone encountered similar issues and was able to fix it?
I am left with no music in my car and any help to fix this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
What? Couldn't even comprehend what you talking about.

Use a Bluetooth connection. Sounds like your choice of setup is very complicated.

The goal is to get a digital signal (HDMI) out of my phone, then convert it to another digital signal (optical) so I can use it in another device. The problem at hand is that the phone seems to NOT be sending this HDMI signal out. I had this working before with my Note 4 but the Note 4 is no more. I now have to get it working on the S8 and it seems it doesn't work the same way.

Bluetooth works but that is a compressed signal that has to go through my head unit (garbage) so if I do it that way I get terrible sound quality. doing it the way I described above I get crystal clear sound, which is the goal.

Have you tried connecting it to a TV? That should tell you if the phone is outputting the HDMI signal. If that doesn't work, it should be either the phone or the new cable is faulty.

Thanks, I was thinking about doing that. I'll try it after work tonight and post back.
@fcarpio
Any news? Did it work?
