(Q)-Permissions don't save /Wifi error - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hello guys so I recently switched roms to Evo x4. Then i started bringing in backups from titanium backup like contacts, media, etc so then i rebooted. I left wifi on but when reboot done, wifi just kept on scanning. so using root browser i found that my wifi folder and the other file(located on very bottom) had wrong permissions. Every box was.ticked. so i repermissioned them and rebooted but to only see that my permissions had not been saved. someone help.using 3g now but not for long

never use titanium back to restore system apps - if you did reinstall the rom - only restore user apps
with wifi make sure you are using the correct wifi driver for the kernel you are using
there are no bugs like you mentioned in evo x4 so reflash the rom and both ota updates and then only restore user apps

Just fix permissions in recovery/advanced options.....
And also while changing permissions mount system as rw...
For wifi u can try flashing dhd stock zip. (for hells fusion its dhd1.1)....

Don't fix permissions ^^
You'll end up having force closes of system apps after you reboot!
Uninstall Pure Performances and then see if the wifi works or not.

First i set right permissions, then shutdown, then to cwm, then advanced>fix permissions, then reboot now every thing is okay. Tq to all who help
Edit: Nope, Im starting to think Titanium backup's "wifi access points" restore had something to do with this. Problem still not solved and i cant really use a computer to restore stick rom

Titanium Backup is the cause. I have experienced it before. You can reflash Evo x4 rom and everything will be alright. But don't restore that backup. If you restore the backup on where you took it (ex.Stock ROM), then it will be alright. The toggles, apps are worked on the Evo x4 ROM. Therefore, if you flash stock apps again, it will cause the instability.
Press thanks if I have helped you.

WIFI not working?

Whenever I turn my WIFI on, nothing ever happens... But if I turn it on and reboot my phone the WIFI ICON appears and seems to be working... What can be causing this?
This just started happening when I switched to the new Kernel GK-0.31
Thanks in advanced.
It looks like there is a bug with the new kernel package and users of 1.5 ROMS. If you're comfortable with this, here's what i would try:
Nandroid back up
Verify that you have a backup
Copy that backup to your computer.
Go back to the kernel thread and download the AOSP version of the kernel.
Flash it
See if your phone boots, runs as expected, and wifi works.
If the answer to any of those is no, restore your nandroid backup.

What does AOSP do? A user by the name ANDYRIOT had a cool looking DIALPAD... And I notice in his signature that it says AOSP 1.6 + Googlebits. Is that how he got his DIALPAD to look like that?

AOSP builds do not have any of the HTC sense or apps. I think that dial pad is the standard android dialer.

My phone is stuck at HTC screen and it doesn't move after the reboot... I did a backup and put it on my SD Card and verified it was there... But all it does is stall on the boot HTC screen..... Its been 5 min, still on that screen... I did a battery pull.... It is still stuck on the HTC screen...
So how do I fix the WIFI settings?
First we need to fix whatever is causing you not to be able to access the recovery image from your other thread. No use in trying anything else until you can reliably get back to where you started.

Do you have the issue with the apps not appearing as installed on the market when restoring apps with titanium? This causes the apps not to be able to be updated. Havent tried myself on the tab but i have read of people having this issue with titanium and honeycomb.
I'm guessing that restoring system data from one rom to another is going to cause you some problems.
market doctor in the setting menu should find the the market keys. That seems to be working.
Coming from the evo 4g i only really heard of issuse if you tryed to restore a sence build to cm you would get a ton of f/c
So i thought tw to tw would be fine
After the update when I restored my tab with my google account, almost all of my apps were reinstalled except Titanium Backup. When I go into market and my apps I don't even see TB as an uninstalled program.
Now I am not even sure all of my apps are showing up there, I think most of them are but I am not sure.

Free downloaded Apps showing up in the market. Is new to me. On all of my phones after I flashed only paid Apps would sync with my account. So ti backup was necessary.
It looks like the market is getting better. I still use ti to back up logins and saved games.
After the last flash I only found about 12 out of the 60 Apps not installed about the same amount of Apps I sideloaded (amazon and xda)

[GUIDE] Restore saved WiFi when flashing a new Rom

Greetings,
first of all, since this is my first guide, please be kind and for another thing, english is not my mother tongue so pardon eventual spelling errors.
I'am sort of a "flash-o-holic" and one thing that drives me nuts is everytime i flash a new rom, i have to reenter my saved WiFi-networks including their passwords. And since these passwords are really long, about 16 to 26 characters, it's a very tedious process.
But a found a solution or workaround, that i want to share with you.
First, grab your wpa_supplicant.conf file, usually it's saved under /system/etc/wifi/ (you can either pull it via adb or copy it with a root explorer to your sdcard) a save this file on your PC.
Now download your desired rom (if you haven't already), open it with a zip tool (i use 7zip and so should you ), navigate to /system/etc/wifi/ and replace the wpa_supplicant.conf file.

}
And that's it!
You can just flash it like normal via custom recovery.
Worked for me everytime. (=
Nice, I never thought about that. I usually restore this using Titanium Backup, but that requires getting TB onto the phone first. With your method wi-fi will be available imediately after booting.
EDIT: Except... that file is mostly empty. For me the file with my wifi data is /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
...or you can just backup your data using Google. it restores your WiFi passwords

I could do that, but i don't want to save my WiFi-Settings & passwords on a google server. It's silly i know but i'am kinda paranoid.

Same for me
Well, i guess the Main Argument against that would be:
When you need to restore from Google, you have to connect to wifi first, right?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the info! I have a ton of logins for various businesses. PITA to manually redo all of them.

[Q] Storage issues

Nexus 4, rooted, CM, gravity box.
I want to update to CM11 M6 but I can't get my phone to make a nandroid (using ClockworkMod) because I keep getting an error basically saying I have insufficient storage. These are the steps I take:
Backup using titanium
Go into recovery
Backup using ClockworkMod
It's at this point where it lists backing up the system, but then it gets hung up backing up the data card. I have tried to go back in and delete everything I could possibly think of (w/out wiping the whole thing) but to no avail. I have cleared my cashe and even deleted the titanium backup which was around 1gb and still no dice.
Attached are some screenshots that may be helpful. There has to be something hidden but I just don't know where to look for it. I tried to install DiskUsage but I can't since I don't have enough room. How do I clear up this phone?! Any help would be much appreciated!!

You need at least 3GB of free space to make CWM able to create backup... but you won't find that backup in /sdcard/cloclworkmod folder it's in /storage/emulated/blablabla or something like that and you won't be able to get access there from your computer

Ok, I'm not sure I understand. I'm in the emulated folder and went into the clockworkmod folder and keep descending and come to just 1 file that is just 7.63mb called "recovery-clockwork-....img". This can't be the solution, can it?
try in /storage/emulated/legacy/clockworkmod... or flash TWRP instead of CWM... if both won't help then you can try to make a backup with toolkit for PC, for example Wug's toolkit
Twrp is showing the backup size and a poseibility to compress it. You probably have much apps or there is some .something fokder what is using much or much cache just like on an desktop. Many things can cause it.
You may want to checkout what is using so much by deleting old folders from old apps or old things yiu dint use anymore.

Strange internal storage issues

When installing apps the storage manager is not registering the correct size to start off with. For instance a 1.5gb app is showing as total size of maybe 59mb. Under data for the apps it shows maybe 200kb.
Now the worse part is when uninstslling apps it does not race the data for the app. In order to remove the data and get my space back I have to boot into recovery and wipe cache.
Tried removing external SD card and trying it again and it's th deer same issue.
Also when attempting to move data to SD card it doesn't seem to really move anything but takes at least 30 seconds to do it and still requires the SD in the 0hone to run the app
Does anybody know what's up here and willing to tell me?
Thanks maybe.

Ok. Finally installed TWRP on the phone and made a backup.... I could just do it from there right?
Also considering trying either your rom or cm.. I had a couple more.precautionary questions if you could help..
1. When installing Rom I have found conflicting inforation on what needs to be wiped first ... most say just data, dalvik, and cache (so factory reset option in twrp) .... some say I need to wipe system as well. Witch is it?
2. Some roms seem to include supersu with them. If I have already installed it will that be any conflict ??
3. Installing stock rom require same process right?
4. Is there any version of cm that comes with kernel allowing over clock that is safexactly to flash from my current firmware ok3..?
I'm still not too sure about doing this but I can't figure another to solve the issues I am having with this phone, I got it used and it's off of warranty anyways.
Thanks...

1. Some ROMs, like mine, have the austen wipe built into the ROM.
2. No
3. That depends on if you are using Odin or recovery
4. I don't use CM, too unstable for me.

So that means at this point you wouldn't really need to wipe before installing wicked rom anymore?
Also decided against any over clocking now, changed to performance governors and things are working great now, especially games. No hitching, we're I was getting 10fps or less I cod strike team it's now 30.. so if I install a rom it will be wicked, especially the function on it "fix external SD write" fixes my storage management issues than that alone would be great and the debloat and performance tweaks would be a great bonus.
Thanks.
