How can I change S Voice navigation? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy.
I bought iGO navigation and I am wondering how can I replace the S Voice navigation (originally the Google Maps)?
Is it possible to change the Maps to iGO software?

IF you have purchased the iGo legally (it is available for limited countries only), the question is ridiculous....
what for do you want to replace it? What would you like to replace?
As the navigation program, start iGo. and the iGo itself is able to use ant Text-to-speech engine you have installed on the phone.

I want to use S Voice hands free mode while I am driving. But if I say the command "Navigate to...etc." the S Voice start the Google Maps. And this is what I want to replace in S Voice to not start the Google Maps instead of iGO.

Hmm... it is quite mysterious and hidden trick to be used, I misunderstood you first time, apologies.
OK, to do the trick, you have to follow a deeply hidden, top secret Samsung;s procedure, which I will reveal for you...
Follow the LINK (do NOT populate it with others, it is deepest hidden Samy's secret!!!!111).
Use the SECOND link... it will be most appropriate for your level...
I wish you success with the hacking your phone using this procedure for highest level geeks....

First of all you are not funny!
Second that I am not dummy.
Third that in this settings menu I cannot change the app which will start automatically in S Voice as navigation.
So the dummy is you...

Yes, you are absolutely right, your highness.
My deep apologies that you are unable to use the Google search for:
1. S-voice configuration (provided you with link in previous post)
2. How to check what is your current default navigation app (TIP: click on any address in your contacts* and check what app(s) are displayed as alternatives or if Google Maps starts without any warning);
2. How to change of the default navigation application from Maps to iGo.
* - please do not ask how to add the address to the contact name, DIY.

Strange... I see Sygic, Maps, Earth and igo...Have you BOUGHT the iGo from the legal source? If so, it shall be visible as navigation application. Ask NavNgo support why it is not in your case.

How to use GPS

I apologize for being new to this, but how do you use the GPS? All I see is an app that just downloads the position setting?
Would the GPS app work around the world (map wise).?
GPS is used in applications like Google Maps or navigation software like TomTom or Navigon.
For example, start Google Maps and set "Activate GPS" inside the application. Then, your exact postition will be shown on the google map.
Be carefull: gps does not work inside of buildings.

thief track software

hi!
i found some software that tracks your phone if it was stolen but i read on some forums that it doesn't work if you haven't opened google maps!and i don't think a thief will open it
do you know if there is one that works?
here is a list of those i found:
sprite terminator
ultimate theft alert
wimp
StopThief
Antitheft
Remote Tracker
I don't understand, You have read google map must be opened on your phone before being stolen or you must use google map to find your phone?
you aren't need of google map on your phone.
I tryed other but i'd rather use WIMP, and i think it's really nice if you configurate it correctly. You have just to send a sms on your phone and it reply with gps coordinate without alert for the thief.
Of course, you need something like google maps to find your stoled phone, but you can use another GPS too.
I have used remote tracker and it worked very well
You do NOT need to open google maps for it to work!
Read http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/ for more info.

Download the "google search by voice app" in the market, then watch the video link in my first post to activate
The new update doesn't have Street View. Are they discontinuing the project?
it has streetview im using it now!!
You are right, but it is not an option in the map modes like it was before. You have to long press the map on the location, then a window pops up and there you select street view. Don't really care about that since I am in Canada and there are no street views here yet, at least that is what I think. As for the voice recognition/search function, I do not have that option in the search function. Looked all over the place for it but still can't find it. There is suppose to be a mic beside the google search bar in the Search option. Not there on Rogers Canada network. Hopefully they will fix that soon.

can't find this app, when i search for it, only one app appears and it is google maps which is already installed...
still no voice search for me.
strange.
The Roger HTC Magic (I have one) doesn't appear to have libspeech.so installed - I think that is the missing piece. I am not sure why we don't see the google search by voice app that the others are speaking about.
I'm confused why the voice dialer works - I guess that doesn't use libspeech.so?

When you are in Google Maps, do Menu > Search then select the microphone, which will let you do voice search.

It's close to the same hardware - different frequencies or something for the different carriers. The other difference is each carrier can customize the Android OS they release. Rogers in Canada, for example, released their Android phones with MS Exchange support. But they obviously left some other things out. That's why I want to root my phone so I can put whatever software I want on there.

That's the issue - there's no such button. Missing libspeech.so is the culprit here I believe. And while I have the file from other sources, I don't have root access to the phone, so I can't install it to the lib folder to make it work.
What a pain.. when I try to update mine, I get the message:
"Installation Error: Package file was not signed correctly."
Any suggestions?
I installed the new version of maps but I can't find the voice search option, it's just not there (same as previously reported) i'm on vodafone australia.
Any idea how we can get the voice working?
Well I upgraded the Maps app and have the voice search. It's rubbish! I've tried speeking as clearly as possible but it's all over the place. Searching Edinburgh comes back as Dayton, Ohio, USA everytime Typing is much quicker anyway.
New update of Google Map has been released, v3.1.1
I've updated and retried, it's still rubbish.
Ya not sure what v3.1.1 fixes, there is still no voice search here in Canada yet.

on the 9/07/2010:
Car Menu and Google Maps Navigation. When you are out and about, Galaxy S makes finding your way around fun, easy and efficient. In the car, put Galaxy S into its mount, and weather, view map, voice search and navigation icons are instantly displayed. The Google Maps Navigation application allows you to find your destination easily and quickly even through the most complex streets. As you make your way, Galaxy’s internet-connected navigation with voice command and preinstalled Google Maps, provides three different views. Real street view, traffic view and satellite view.

Am I the only person who gets "Navigation is not available in your area" when I load the navigation app? Samsung are selling the phone with navigation as a feature, one I intended to use which is disabled because?
I was under the impression that Google Navigation was only available in the US as of right now.

Its works in Canada.. Google Navigation has been working in Canada for about a year now.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
There's no google Nav in aus yet as mentioned. Brut[maps] works, but be aware there are still some small subtle oddities (which don't really affect it's use), such as going the wrong way around on roundabouts (So if it says second exit, that might mean second exit counterclockwise, NOT the correct way).

[APP] Off-line maps (OSM) + "Courses" from Garmin - lack!

Dear XDA forum developers!
Is there anyone on this forum who can write a simple application showing the map (e.g. OpenStreetMap) in off-line mode, which we load ourselves into the watch's memory and additionally with the GPS track navigation function (from a .GPX file)(example: "Courses" from Garmin). There is no such thing on the market and it seems to me that with a well-developed application such something could be sold for 5$ very well.
P.S. Do you want to be rich? This is the moment!

I see. But it isn't that heavy I think, it should do its job. I agree that there is no big selection in this kind of apps though
