I like having my MOJO stand vertically, anyone else?
Not because it gets hot, I think it looks cool, like a mini PS2... probably just habit with consoles

It looks great vertical. Does it stand well? Or do we need a custom stand?

Stands very well, the top/bottom edges run parallel and straight to the front, so very stable on a flat surface, no stand required.
I like having the cable at the top and it doesn't tip over.
I'm sure someone can do better photos

Doesn't it cover some vents when it is upright? I'm not at home to look at mine.

Didn't the black monolith speed up human evolution? So it's not evil per se, and if it improves your life in any way an apt comparison :cyclops:

Maybe, but the vents are more decorative as it is fanless is it not? The device is supposed to consume up to 4.5watts max under heavy gaming, 3.5 during HD vide playback, and less doing other stuff. I doubt overheating is a huge issue.

It's fanless, it does cover the side vent (which is the bottom now) but it's raised of the bottom just like the bottom is raise of the bottom.
Also don't forget the actual bottom also has large vents, which is now on the side... the not so pretty side
It's been warm, but never hot.

Yeah, that´s one of the much touted advantages of ARM designs, no need for fans
I can only think of two which have fans: the Odroid XU board and the Nvidia Shield (but the shield has both batteries, which generate extra heat, and a higher clocked CPU and GPU).

To bring this only slightly back on topic, I do worry about dropping it and scratching the "glans", in case it subsequently scratches the screen. Even with a screen protector, I notice I've still managed to scratch the scrollbar area.

Can anyone who's seen the internals of the G1 comment on the feasability of putting a G2 style upwards flipping mechanism in the G1? I guess it'd be hard and probably impossible, but if anyone can manage it, I'm offering a reward of 10 awesome points. 11 if they post a guide too.
Well never happen the g1 isn't made right for that kinda flip.
Wait...

They didn't say it was being *jammed* up, they said it was being *pulled* up.
Hopefully this is a straight slide and not some insanely delicate multi-vector weakness B.S. I don't like how it appears to have come out of its track like that... if it can be pulled out like that, it IS a BAD SIGN.
You really have to wonder WTF is in the heads of these manufacturers. Is there something particularly terrible about having RAILS between the two parts to keep everything aligned and moving in a straight line? The DREAM was *OK* (but still not *great*) in this regard. We want DURABILITY, not insanity! And it would also be nice to have a ridge with a rubber damper around the screen to protect it from being dropped... but I guess that would reduce the number of replacements and repairs they can sell on devices that get broken through normal use.
Enough with the style and light weight. We want FUNCTIONALITY and DURABILITY! Give it a THICK METAL CASE. Quadruple the thickness of the glass. Protect the glass with rubber dampers and a ridge. I want something MILITARY GRADE and I'm willing to PAY for it -- and I think you will find that nobody worries about upping the price by $1 for ***ALL*** the extra materials it takes.

well if you want all that youll need to use one of big rotary phones with the antenna and hiddn dial-pad instead. i promise you that it will be 100x more durable than this, one drop of the G2 and say good bye, but one drop from G1 and she comes home safe.
What is it with these idiots, really?
I understand the ones who want to keep their device relevant by upgrading their OS to the most current one even if it's just basic funcionality, but wanting to physically transform one device into another.
Reminds me of that other thread with the guy that wanted to turn his phone into a gimped, tiny tablet.
Seriously, is there no limit to cheap?
Funny thing but I do not see an easy solution.
At the moment I am using my netbook, so essentially when I lie in bed and my netbook is on my belly I got top of the screen tilted towards me in order to see the picture clearly (I got Asus 12001N).
I can not belive any of those tablets has screen good enough to watch a film with a completely opposite screen angle (where bottom is closer to you)...
All accessories I have seen will keep tablet under mentioned angle which is not very useful .
I do not think I will be able to hold it still for 2h... or maybe it is not a problem?
Also.... if 3.5 mm jack is on top of the tablet one needs fairly long lead to put it behind screen.
God... waiting for F1 race restart is boring - at least guys at BBC are fairly funny
Personally I have a TV in my bedroom. But I never watch it. I fall a sleep in the living room watching TV then wake up and go to bed in the bedroom. haha, try that maybe. the solution is get a wall mount for your tablet. they make them and they are cheap.
Can't be any more boring then actually watching F1

Well, race was actually very good - thanks BBC! ;-)
If I put tablet on the wall I dont think I will be able to spot it, not to mention seeing what is on the screen or actually touching it

Now, it is an idea but a tough one.
Him or R2D2 - either way someone will get jealous.
Try this:
- Lie on your side
- Put the tablet in front of you on portrait mode (so you still see in landscape, because you lie on your side)
- Put pillow behind the tablet to hold it in that position
There you go
I use that for iPad2 when my daughter wants to watch some clips.

1. Thanks - will try. But I see here a great potential for accessories manufacturers - to give us more convenient covers
2. Not much on Polish telly to watch and not much time so netbook and BBC, ITV, Ch4 + hulu, abc, cbs and netflix are more than enough.
VPN sorted out my life as I felt really lost after I came back from UK 2 PL.
I would buy a TV but it would need have to have an option to set up VPN connection or I would have to find a way to connect it through VPN so it would have UK or USA IP.
Now, my only trouble is - how to pay for HULU Plus.
BTW: If any of you is from USA and has a paypal account I would be very grateful for help (no risk for you I send you cash and you pay on my behalf. If one of you would be a "kind soul" please PM me).
3. When you have a tablet or netbook screen 50-80 cm away from your screen I think it is big enough. My netbook is 12.1" (bigger, true) and I really do not miss big telly.

Feels awesome and feels like you are writing with a normal pen.. i like it, so here how2build your own.
What you need:
- one of these guys (or similiar) (just the cap.)
- the grip from another pen
1. you have to remove the cover / top of the cap, so you get a tube.
2. pull the grip over it
top:
bottom:
3. ofc pull the whole thing over your stylus =) (not too much, you want to be able to remove it later!)
4. have fun

I actually use a pencil with mine most of the time... if the tip isn't too sharp it works almost flawlessly, and it glides over the screen very nicely and doesn't hurt the screen at all. I even bought some FullHB pencils (they're solid graphite, no wood) to use, and they seem to work even better than a standard pencil.
I just dug up the old full graphite pencils from my art school days and I have to agree: they are amazing stylusses (styli?).
Then I decided to go one better: I got a mechanical pencil with some nice fat leads (I went for 3mm HB koh-i-noors). Now I can retract the vulnerable graphite for safer traveling and still have an amazing and precice hard-tip stylus.
I might just take apart the official stylus and replace the rubber with a bit of graphite, but I'm not entirely comfortable storing that inside the tablet.

I had tried just a regular cheap mechanical pencil, and they don't work at all... probably because the lead is too thin and/or the casing is plastic and doesn't carry the conductivity to your hand. Glad you liked the pencil idea, though! Oh, and yes, it is styli
This is cool.

Hello everyone!
About a week ago I noticed a very unpleasant issue on my Galaxy S7 Edge. There is a major light leakage at the place where curved part of the display meets with the body. It is clearly seen when you're in the dark environment. It is extremely annoying, and looks like you've ripped off the display and placed it back gently. It doesn't affect waterpoofness though. I went through various shops and checked other phones. This issue was present on them also. Shop consultants were very surprised when I showed them this. Do you guys have the same problem? If you haven't heard about this yet, please check, and reply. Pictures show the issue I'm experiencing.
Mine and my wife phone's have same issue.
It's not leakage it's total internal reflection from the cover glass.
This is due to the curved surface acting like a fiber optic cable. There's no real way to stop this from happening. Notice how the edge is brighter where you have bright rows of icons or search bars. They all come out horizontally out from the side like this.
Just checked, and yup, it's the same thing here. Funny how I haven't noticed it until I read it here. I hate you. Nah, it's no big deal, but I'm not sure what to call it. There's really no gap there, and the distance between the edge of the screen and that "gap" is so so tiny that I can't see how the could've made it completely perfect? I guess the only way of not having this issue is to have a unibody construction?
I only notice it when the brightness is cranked up to max in a dark-ish room btw.
Edit: Yup, so I can't see it in a dark room with auto brightness enabled. I can however see it if I crank the brightness to max, but what mad man would use a screen at max brightness at night??

Sorry man, I just wanted to make sure I'm not alone with this issue. It looks like it's normal, so not much to worry about.
I have owned 3 s7 edges all with same thing only reason I noticed was when I was getting dust build up in the gap. I have since accepted it. I'm just not putting it in water. For those who think it's a fault try sliding a single sheet of paper between it and if u look closely enough you can see the connecters around the buttons. I have been reassured many times by other users and Samsung on this that it's normal even if I think it's not.

It's not only normal it's dictated by the laws of physics, you can't get rid of it, and it has nothing to do with the gap.

Yeah, seriously, the Edge is built with many many different parts, and there's not even a tiny chance that it won't have a "gap" or five. It's still water resistant though, and it's most likely just some glue in the "gap" that we're seeing. Photons are like... tiny, man, so yeah, 'nuff said.
