hi all, after a long battle of getting back to stock rom, I today received the 3.62.xxx.1 update, and just playing around to see whats new (I was stuck on 1.28.xxx.x , I happened to stumble upon the new zoe camera features, I literally took a picture in pitch black, and it came out as if it were perfect daylight, first by touching a focus point then taking a picture, was anyone else impressed with the cameras new results?
or am I just a bit behind and you all had this pleasure a while ago?

Hi all
Just got my gorgeous new Gold unlocked M8 today after changing my S5 twice, both S5 units had a rattle in the camera. So beat up the sales assistant after he tried to force a 3rd one on me.. hehe
I know theres been a few updates to reach 1.54.401.10, but I think the camera is lovely and sharp. I dont know what all the reviews and complaints are about. I actually think its better and faster than the S5. Admittedly, Ive only took a few daylight shots with it and havent gone into full depth of the camera/zoe suite.. but it feels more of a joy and even fun to use rather than just a camera app and actually makes me want to go out and take photos just so i can play around with all the features.. I like all the little add ons, filters and ZOE effects. Its just a gorgeous camera suite.
The audio is amazing as well, its just a gorgeous device to use.
How do you feel about the M8, do you think the camera deserves the hammering its getting.
Cheers
Thread closed,
A good place to ask this would be in Build Quality Concerns There is a lot of info on the device in there.

I've been doing a lot of testing comparing photos taken on Touchwiz and photos taken on CM and the end result is that basically , photos taken with Snap camera on CM12 seem to look just as good as those taken on samsung camera app on a touchwiz Rom.
However, every app I try for CM12 seems to have a slow burst rate ( around 1 per second) when in burst mode.
e.g.
+Snap camera on touchwiz seems to take burst photos at the same speed as samsung camera app. ( 5+ frames per second-ish!?)
+Snap camera on CM12 burst mode can only take photos at around 1 frame per second.
Is this something that can be tweaked in the CM rom, or is it a limitation of the camera driver available to CM?
Hmm noone knows anything? no reply here and no reply when I asked in CM dev threads either.

Sorry I'm wont be of any help but I too am looking for answer to this. Its the one last thing I need on a CM12 ROM. I'm trying to figure out if its an app or ROM issue. I suspect it comes down to the camera hal on CM12 that needs changing. I've been trying to search the net for answers but your post is as close as I have come to finding an answer. I am thinking of looking at CM12 source code to see if there are any answers there. Currently I have tried ported Oppo camera and ColorOS cameras for OnePlus One phones. They can take pics super fast and look to be the answer until I try burst mode and then its just sits a 1 photo taken and wont "burst" so to speak.
If you have found out any more info on the matter since your original posting please let me know and in return I will post what I find.
Here is what I have been trying so far. Better than anything I find in the Play store.

I didn't have any joy i'm afraid. I bored of asking and being ignored!
Previous versions of CM seemed to have faster burst which suggested to me it was a ROM issue but there seems to be zero information on it.
Just curious as to others that have multiple phones. Show as close to idential shots with the S6 and the "other" phone/camera.
Here are some from my M9 and the S6. Both are in the out of the box fully auto settings with auto HDR as well. I also picked a central focus point on each before snapping just to be fair that they focused on the same spot. These were taken on a normal early summer evening. No bright sun but not dark. The S6 is just in a different league than the M9. I really am disappointed with HTC this year. The only thing going for the M9 is it does have noticeably less lag. Although it is a far cry from how much faster than S5 was. This time the lag is bearable on S6. File names show which is which...but easy to tell without looking at the files names. LOL
Not sure why some are auto rotating when uploading...but you can still see the difference.
a few more.
retry on upload
last ones.
I was amazed that the S6 even had depth of field without using any "gimmick" filters.

Would like to start this again and get memzworld insight on the cameras. Hopefully silly mods won't close this one, as this topic needs it's own thread.
I think the message is if you want a great camera phone get either an s6, note4, g4 or iphone 6+ and neither will disappoint you (how's the z3 because somy actually makes the sensors)
Thanks for creating this thread.
I agree with you about the mods. They are too overzealous with the closing of threads. I don't want to go into one single thread for all things related to the camera when there are so many facets of it that can be discussed. Those huge threads with hundreds of pages are a PAIN to sift through - there can be 3 or 4 different discussions running at once. It's way too cumbersome.
If you want to discuss the S6 camera on its own, go to the camera thread, but S6 vs G4 camera I think deserves its own thread.

Silly mods won't close it. Sensible and sane mods on the other hand...
Camera is camera is camera. Should we have individual threads for S6 vs every other phone camera there is? I think not. All comparisons should go in the S6 camera thread.
Thread closed as its a duplicate.
The question says pretty much all. I was wondering whether is it possible to capture portrait mode from the front camera of OnePlus 5 without rooting the phone? I tried using google camera but the pictures are coming out to be patterns of pink.
no
Lol why create a whole new thread for this???
@phoenix061992 One, this question didn't need a new thread. Please always search before posting, this has been covered multiple times now in this thread. Read this post. Two, even if you wanted to create a new thread for this, the correct sub-forum for this is Q&A, and not this one.
