No notification pops up, my phone just doesnt seem to recognize the cable. Any reason? I was told the xoom camera kit cable would work for otg usb.
hello? can somebody help?
nobody? okay...coool
You'll need external power to power it

its a pendrive, which should work unplugged. It just doesnt seem to even recognize that its there. Do you think the cable is defective?
In the usb otg tutorial video in the accessories section it shows that plugging in the cable without anything attached to it should trigger a notification. If it doesn't, it's probably the cable

okay, I guess the motorola xoom cable does not work for some stupid reason. Or its defective...well ****.
I guess, it's missing a resistor to trigger OTG mode.

in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493&highlight=usb+otg+resistor) you'll find detailed instructions on what makes one cable work and another one fail. apparently, you'd have to open the micro usb plug and connect pin 4 and 5. the connection between pin 4 and 5 determine, what kind of connection it is: charging, sync, usb otg, mhl, trigger download mode... and indeed, that is done by putting in different resistor strengths.
I got one of these, only £2.50 shipped and works perfectly, its great fun plugging in a mouse!
Ok I have the following problem:
I bought g1 without usb cable (original one is curved) and I tried to connect it to my pc with regular usbmini cable from my ext. Hdd and charging works but I can't transfer data cuz it doesn't recognize my device and on my phone it doesn't even show it in notification bar. So my q is:
Does it make a difference if a cable jack is curve or a regular one and does it make a difference for this phone? I don't think that usb port on the phone is broken cuz it charges. Thanks in forward.
I used a cable that is for charging a PS3 controler and worked great.

Good luck!
what you can do as well is to use wifi dongle. like three uk MIFI dongle. you can use your phone and nexus 7 on the same time too. no rooting required and much less hassle

My n10 wont charge via my pogo cable when another perpheral is connected to my tablet, like a usb mouse or keyboard using an otg. Anyone know why?
This is a firmware issue around trying to protect the device from being concurrently charged (pogo and USB charging). Basically in my opinion Google considers the pogo plug a failed experiment and I doubt you will see one in the next version.
This issue has been mentioned multiple times in many threads. The only firmware that addressed the issue was a custom one specific to the old Nexus 7.
I have a pogo cable, it works fine and has since they were first available. Are you sure the pogo cable isn't faulty? Even worse it could be a fault with your Nexus.
Do you know anyone else with a N10 so that you can cross check it?

I have a 3g 2012 Nexus 7
It is running Timurs USB Rom
It has been working perfectly for a month or so, then suddenly the other night, after leaving it on charge overnight via the mains, it is now not recognised by my pc, but is still charging when connected
I have even installed a new usb port on the tablet
I have used different cables and USB ports on the compter as well
I've looked on google for a few days now, but simply can't find an answer
Thanks
first redflash ur current ROM
if that doesn't solve issue then try pogo pin method for data transfer or use USB otg
