[Q] usb cable not recognized - G1 General

Ok I have the following problem:
I bought g1 without usb cable (original one is curved) and I tried to connect it to my pc with regular usbmini cable from my ext. Hdd and charging works but I can't transfer data cuz it doesn't recognize my device and on my phone it doesn't even show it in notification bar. So my q is:
Does it make a difference if a cable jack is curve or a regular one and does it make a difference for this phone? I don't think that usb port on the phone is broken cuz it charges. Thanks in forward.

I used a cable that is for charging a PS3 controler and worked great.

Xoom Camera kit not working as OTG cable

No notification pops up, my phone just doesnt seem to recognize the cable. Any reason? I was told the xoom camera kit cable would work for otg usb.
hello? can somebody help?
nobody? okay...coool
You'll need external power to power it

its a pendrive, which should work unplugged. It just doesnt seem to even recognize that its there. Do you think the cable is defective?
In the usb otg tutorial video in the accessories section it shows that plugging in the cable without anything attached to it should trigger a notification. If it doesn't, it's probably the cable

okay, I guess the motorola xoom cable does not work for some stupid reason. Or its defective...well ****.
I guess, it's missing a resistor to trigger OTG mode.

in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493&highlight=usb+otg+resistor) you'll find detailed instructions on what makes one cable work and another one fail. apparently, you'd have to open the micro usb plug and connect pin 4 and 5. the connection between pin 4 and 5 determine, what kind of connection it is: charging, sync, usb otg, mhl, trigger download mode... and indeed, that is done by putting in different resistor strengths.
I got one of these, only £2.50 shipped and works perfectly, its great fun plugging in a mouse!

USB Problems

Hey Guys
So I am having a very unique problem. I can charge my phone perfectly fine when it is connect it to the wall sockets. I put the mini usb plug completely into the phone and it charges fine. But when I connect to the my computer (mac, PC and ubuntu) it doesn't charge. If I plug the cable completely into the phone it doesn't charge. But if I partially plug it in, then it charges, but the computer doesn't recognize the sandisk card or my phones memory (so I can't navigate through the file directory).
It all started when I tried to charge my phone through the car stereo USB in my car.
Please if anybody has a solution to this problem, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you All.
Were you using the official car charger (that came with the phone)?
Maybe you using a low voltage/deffective USB port on your PC (mine has a 5 in 1 Card Reader with an extra USB port that is cheap and doesn't charge my iPod, for example)...

Try different port or get a replacement for your cord.

generic micro usb cable only charges

bought generic micro usb cables from amazon and when i try to use as data transfer from computer running windows 7 it says device drivers not installed correctly but when i use original it works fine... i have tried 3 of the five i bought and they are all the same are the cables faulty or did samsung change their cable? anyone else having this problem?
i am running antoniomistrerrA note xxkka rom with 2.6.35.14-fm-gbda6637 kernal... thanks for the rtesponse
Throw the cables and buy new one. Some of the USB cables are not proper wired and wires are in bad quality.

Well that has happened for me, but since yesterday im not being able to transfer data even with de original usb cable. has this happened to anyone else?
There are some cables that are charge only. Can you post a link.
GALAXY NOTE
I'm using the original cable that came with the note but somehow only charges! it doesn't even do that usb sound when plugged, tried restarting the phone and KIES doesn't detect it either..
This is happening after yesterday the phone started saying it was having a charging/unplug LOOP (constantly vibrating) even with the cable off. this was fixed removing the battery :/
Edit 1#
i am also being unable to plug the phone via mass storage usb, it asks me to plug the usb cable and then nothing..
Edit 2#
So i confirm it's now fixed, i tried to unplug again the battery and also cleaned the usb connector of the phone with a toothbrush.. one of those fixed the problem. now I'm just crossing fingers it won't happen again :/

[Lack of OTG][Proposal] Crazy solution

What do you think about a wireless storage? Think about those SDCards with built-in WiFi. If independently powered, they could be used as kind of external memory with WiFi-Direct.
What do you think? Crazy or possible?

Thought about Eye-Fi already. This thing needs a power.
Ok, now serious:
We need someone, who have: Eye-Wi, SD card reader, usb-micro usb cable converter, Nexus 4.
Two questions here:
1.Can Eye-Wi, cable connected to the phone, be powered?
2.If yes, will it recognize the device and connect in any way?

Eye-Wi sounds really interesting.

if i could find my Eye-Wi, I would try this, but in my other test with a micro-usb micro sd adapter and micro-usb y cable, the adapter would not receive power from the phone's micro-usb charger....the Eye Wi I had actually had the SD Card Reader built in, in order to test this you need you're phone's charger, micro-usb y cable, and Eye Wi...they way it should work is that your phone charger plugs into the y-cable the y-cable female micro usb end goes into the phone and the Eye Wi into the USB...if that doesnt work disconnect the y cable from phone and plug the Eye Wi into the phone charger directly to see if that will power the Eye Wi and if your phone sees the wireless network...this alternative if it works is fine if you're by a wall outlet all the time, but travelling on say a plane or train then no, you're better off with a self powered wifi drive/reader.

[Q] G2 charging problems

Anyone got the same issue?
I cannot charge my G2 via PC or laptop USB. I am using a different cable though.
I've read somewhere that the needed output for a charger to work is 2.0amp, but this is already a USB connected to a computer!
If the charging doesn't work, that means i cannot connect it to the PC at all since it was never detected.
Is it the cable that has problems? This cable that I was using was still working perfectly fine yesterday with my other phone though.
Unless it is usb 1.0 it should only be the cable

computer and car charger not working
Me and the wife have LG G2 from Verizon and our phones will not charge from the computer or using our car chargers. Also, two of my 3rd party wall chargers will not put any charge on it. It thinks it is charging, but it doesn't and the percentage continues to drop. Very disappointing.

I don't know where you got the 2.0 amp from, but it's wrong. The charger that comes with the phone is only 1.8 amps, so you don't need a minimum 2.0 amps to charge the phone. If you plug in a lower amperage cable, you should get a warning that it will take longer to charge and you should use the charger that came with the phone. Haven't tried plugging into my pc yet. I should probably do that now to transfer some ringtones....
