Is 4.3 MK9 fixed? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am new to this device.
I have been hearing stuff about poor battery life, lag, reboots and a load of random bugs with 4.3. Many are articles made in October of this year.
Has MK9 fixed a lot of those bugs? Would you say its similar in performance and stability to that of 4.2.2? Is it worth the upgrade?
Thanks,

No, I don't have an S4 from O2. It's unlocked.
I see MK8 on there but how is MK9?

Nvm, decided to upgrade in the end. The phone feels so much smoother, keyboard seems more spacious, battery life is round about the same.

[Q] Just upgraded to an S2!

So, at the moment I have a Desire running CM7, and I LOVE it, I simply can't ask for more. However, upgrade day arrived today and I called Orange and ordered an S2. Read a few reviews of it beforehand and the specs just blow me away.
Any one have any useful advice from going to a Desire to a Galaxy?
The SGS does not have Sense do not go looking for it .

FIRST THING when you receive your beast, flash 2.3.4 gingerbread. Excellent battery life and performance.

I'd disagree when I flashed to 2.3.4 I could almost see the battery go down as I used it and instantly flashed back to 2.3.3
However a lot of people are getting better battery life so maybe you might be lucky but personally speaking stick to stock first see how you get on and then flash a new rom.
The official 2.3.4 should be out this month
2.3.4 is not a Samsung release only a leaked test rom .
Personally i would learn before flashing and be able to recover to stock/original firmware for warranty purposes .

Went from a Desire to the SGS2 and haven't looked back since. I think it's a great move. In contrast to what you read above, I'd recommend to stay stock for a while. Learn a little about touchwiz. TW is just as smooth, maybe even smoother, than CM7 on the Desire, believe me. There is really no advice to give, they are both great devices, but you will love the SGS2.
Upgrade
Upgrade to a custom rom, they are muuuch better, keeping in mind the warranty problems and such. I´m running a custom 2.3.4 and it´s perfect.
How about the issue on gaming? Does 2.3.4 got better game support?
Is rooting the only way to remove the Orange apps?
How do I go about rooting with a Mac...

You could install an unbranded firmware to remove all the orange apps.... Kf3 is the latest official release in the uk

i haven't experienced this at all on any ICS rom (tried cm9 and westcrip's samsung rom) .. weird
interface won't change because they don't want to confuse users and maintain continuity in the tw look

Yes, you are right. So we will see tonight
the random acore crash pisses me off the most.
if this is what CM9 needs to complete then i'll be over the moon. or even if we just get a beta ICS in TW form that would be good for the time being. tbh with a month to go before March i'm staying positive and hoping it's near finished. yeah i know probably not but i'm trying to stay positive
good news hope everything fixed
Of course CM9 even without the official source code is wonderfull. As for me, if Samsung will not change anything on his official release in March, i'll use CM9. Because after releasing official source code CM9 will be the great ICS ROM...

4.4 brings better/faster multitouch to all devices. Will it fix the Nexus 7 issue?

What do you guys think?
Im gonna wait until 4.4 arrives to buy the Nexus 7 again.
In the new features I saw better multitouch responsiveness, so let's hope this improves the Nexus 7 multitouch issue.

Optimist? I can tell.
I think Google/Android has changed the multi-touch code a lot recently. With YAMTT I noticed differences in caching between recent Android 4.3.x versions.
The big difference I noticed was what happens when the system is overloaded with touch events. My test method was with non-scientific 10 finger multi-touch testing. Earlier versions would drop them rather than cache to catch up after you release touch. The current version seems to cache them and catch up after you release touch. I do not know what happens on 4.4.
No doubt touch responsiveness improvements will help with handling events. However, I do not expect 4.4 to fix devices that are improperly calibrated to capacitive touch. A touch that does not register, or a phantom touch is not a touch event performance (responsiveness) issue. Calibration can be fixed with firmware updates, so maybe we can hope for new Nexus 7 2013 firmware with 4.4 upgrades.
if the touch screen issue is to be solved and the n7 would be perfect.

Has anyone tried installing one of the new 4.4 ROMS like Paranoid?
Try installing one and see if there's any update to the touchscreen issue and if it now works better.

Even then, I'd wait for the official OTA update...
I installed the AOSP 4.4 ROM and i can confirm i have none of the touchscreen issues i had before also really smooth !!!
I think different devices will be affected differently by the 4.4 release, I must say that 4.4 has not helped my touch screen.

You can only blame Google for choosing an inferior tech manufacturer. Imagine an LG based nexus 8 (or next year's 7) influenced by the g pad.

ML1 update (p600)

I'm quite impressed. Performance is a lot better. Still 4.3 of course but a lot lot faster. I've got it from here http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=SM-P600 . For now there's only a Taiwanese version available, but who cares.

I jumped straight from MJ6 to this one. Can't say anything about the difference with MK1, but compared to MJ6 it is definitely a lot snapier . Much more responsive. Because I use the note on a day to day basis I'm sure it is not a placebo effect. Things just work a lot more smooth. It is a significant boost)

You wont trip the knox flag cause this is a firmware which is signed by samsung. Use Odin to flash it.

ah
i tired it, but i can not notice a significant difference to MK1 except for the missing multi user support....
i just install it over k1.. little snappier..
also the home button wakeup lag is gone to me.
lost the multi user support but i never use i, beside lost some default fonts.
so far notice the different keyboard, I did flash it with ODIN and my knox counter is still at 0 so all good
*update
REally not sure if this is the latest because it has no multi user and the ripple unlock effect screen is there.
So do we have to wait for this to be released in our respective regions or can we just flash the taiwanese version with no sisses? I'm in Canada.
I'm in the u.s. and odin it and it's working very well! Seems a bit smoother. No twitter or watch on, also not able to get purchased videos from the Samsung hub but able to get the purchased apps. Is there a way to side load the twitter app?
Sorry for a noon question but will flashing this in ODIN wipe or just update the appropriate files?

[Q] Will we receive 4.4.4 or Android L ?

So, im not rooted, dont thinking anyway to root my phone to lose my warranty.
My Question is, will we receive Android 4.4.4 ? Is it already confirmed that we will get Android L ?

4.4.4 had only changes made mainly for Nexus devices. These changes are likely already added in our 4.4.2 firmware so my guess is we will jump straight to L

True. At least we have something to enjoy thanks to these wonderful developers. But I believe android L on G2 will be more smoother and will have better battery life and ART enabled by default. Fingers crossed. Always love to have LG updates but sadly they take ages to release updates compared to other manufacturers.
LG actually doesn't like the minor updates, that's why we don't get 4.4.4, but they do update their phones when major changes appear.
