Hi. I recently switched to Windows 8.1 on my laptop. From this moment on, my Nexus 4 is unrecognizable by the PC. I've tried everything. Seached the whole internet, but did not find a solution to my problem. Is anybody else experiencing the same problems as I am? Is there anyone who can help? Thanks!!!

You mean MTP?
Try uninstalling any related drivers, and try again. Or try changing the USB port.
Yes MTP. Tried both. Still nothing...

Was it a fresh install of Windows 8.1? Did you disable windows update?
Is it an unofficial copy of Windows 8.1? In that case, it could be an OS problem..
Mine is working great on win 8.1 64bit with the latest Windows update. Make sure to install Android SDK (check the Android version you are running).

I've tried all drivers out there. I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro N 64 bit version and the phone is running PA 4.0 beta. Did the same thing with 4.3 as well....

One does not simply use KIES
I have found that most update errors occur due to the folder permissions being incorrectly set. Best way around this unless you know how to set the permissions is to download the new Kies version (if you can find it, not always easy) uninstall the old and re-install from the new one.
I see no changes hmm :/
I've updated it; but 2.3.6 still hasn't arrived.
It won't update here.... XP Pro SP3
No internet connection...
Of course, you stupid updater, I'm behind firewall!
And what the hell you now want to check on internet in the middle of installation?
2.1.1.11124_17 installed without any problem. And found update for SGS2 next day... without any problem!
Same here.no problem on 64 bit.windows 7 install also 32 on 64 bit.you have 2 program directory on windows:86 and normal .86 is 32 bit and normal is 64 bit.

I am curious as to what makes BLuetooth work in android. Are there just drivers for a particular Bluetooth hardware like drivers on a pc for a WiFi card. Trying to understand what is so different from Bluetooth functioning on 4.2.2 and not on 4.4.2. I would think that the stock 4.4.2 works just fine. What makes the aosp-cm11versions so messed up?

To my knowledge they are just like drivers on a PC. The way I look at it - when it comes to drivers from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 is like Windows xp drivers trying to get them to work on Windows 8. Sometimes they work with a few tweaks here and there and (if not all most of the time) they don't work.

you know I was thinking that, I guess I never realized that jellybean & kitkat were that different, but that makes sense
I have seen threads referencing that Win8.1 can be installed on this device and Microsoft lists that it is compatible. I am, however, not finding any solid instructions for installing Windows on this device. Is there possibly a how-to for this?
You can't install win 8 on this device.
It is compatible with win 8 meaning it can connect to the tab 4 with drivers installed on win 8

Has anyone successfully installed Win 8 RT on a Tab 4?
Doubt it
Just try it, what's the worst that can happen?

Yeah I don't know if this will work win 8 isn't meant to be on a ARM device
Sent from my SM-T230NU using XDA Free mobile app
there is an ARM build if you can figure out how to get it off a MS tab and put it on a samsung. Good luck.
Was having trouble getting unlock code from my computer. 10 times I got not a not available. (all info was correct all spaces removed). So I hand typed info into my chrome browser on nexus 6 and got my code first time. if having trouble try different computer or something.
