[Q] Rooted and found miracast in settings!! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today I rooted my nexus 7 using wugs toolkit and I found cast option under display. Is it working or did it just show up due to some modified img or did I forgot to notice in stock 4.4.2?

You just didn't notice it...it is in Stock version.

... and it's not miracast either
It's for Chromecast support.

Upgrade path from 4.2.2 to 4.3

Hello everyone,
I'm currently running the rooted factory stock version of 4.2.2 on my nexus 7 (wifi), now with he release of 4.3 I was wondering what paths are available for me to upgrade to 4.3 in a short and long term.
Thank you.
Unroot and OTA, or find one of the many posted TWRP/CWM flashable versions, rooted or unrooted, that have been posted here in the last couple of hours.

Personally, i downloaded the factory image and then, just flashed it using the console. Pretty easy.
Also, Nexus Tool Rootkit by WugFresh can do the job.
Both metods format all the partitions.
IIRC, there was a warning posted NOT to use the toolkit to push the 4.3 image.
Too many threads to remember which...
alright guys, I guess i would have to install 4.2.2 and wait for OTA.
Wugfresh said that he's in the process of updating his tool, so I'd hold off a day....

Just did this. Works great.

could not update 4.4 using nexus root toolkit by WugFresh

I downloaded factory image of kitkat from google. I run the toolkit and use back to stock and flash the 4.4 firmware. It says my baseband are not up to date. needed a newer versions. therefore I cannot flash it. It remains on my old rom. How??
I'm on custom recovery TWRP and ElementalX kernel with stock rom. My baseband is DEB-G00_2.25.1_0802.
Please help~ thanks!
Hmm. Had a so issue while updating my Nexus 4 earlier. Try flashing the updated radio. You know how to do that, correct? If not Google away and learn.

I just flashed TWRP in fastboot then flashed the SuperSU zip file again. Still the same method for Nexus devices

Thanks. Actually after OTA update my usb storage connection was again set to MTP due to which it was not being detected using Nexus Root Toolkit. Once I changed it to Camera and enabled usb debugging, My device was detected and NRT did its job. I just need root for adblocking (specially in Youtube) and for an app "Mouse&key 2 Touch Gaming". So not looking for custom recovery or rom.
Anyone know if Towelroot will work on this update?

[Q] Nexus 7 (2013): still no Lollipop? Did I miss something?

So it's the beginning of December and I still got no update for my stock Nexus 7. Shouldn't there be any? I rooted my device with towelroot. Is this the problem?
Thanks for your help.

Is it a 3g version ? You can install from the images ( developers.google.com/android/nexus/images ) with fastboot but you'll need to wipe your device.
No, 100% pure WiFi.
No OTA for me too, just download the factory image here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Same here, my 2012 Nexus 7 (wifi) still didn't receive the OTA update
Wrong section, 2013 N7 Q&A is here,
