That could be a real thing and not just "placebo" - when you charge (especially when you charge very fast with the original wall charger) the momentary peripheral charge could be measured as slightly higher than in reality; some time after reaching 100% the charge could be "redistributed" in the full volume of the battery and the real percentage would drop, and further charge can be added inside.
My personal advice is to ALWAYS (when not in a HUGE hurry) charge from USB in a good notebook - the power is very well regulated and limited on USB to 500 mAh (actually 450 seems to be set on Note 3), so the amount of fast aging from fast charging is kept to a minimum

touch HD battery questions

the first battery charge on the HD is supposed to be a 8 or 10 or 12 hour charge? or on its not necesary
also the time used to charge it to the pc via usb cable is same as if ud plug it in the electric socket?
how long dose it take for u to charge ur phone.....
mine had 4 lines out of 10 and after 3 hours of it beeing conected to my pc and not in use its still got 4 lines....
opinions seem to vary on how long for 1st charge - personally I left mine on (mains) overnight, but that's just because I've had mobiles since year dot, and you used to have to!
But charging via PC doesn't seem to work as well as from the mains charger - depends a lot on the PC and how much juice it kicks out, some are a lot better than others.
Modern phones/batteries do not need "overnight" charging. My Touch HD even came with a little note saying you don't need to charge for 16hrs/overnight. Just charge until it's full...
Better to charge with wall socket because not all USB ports provide enough current. Some can't charge through the USB port while some can.
I can charge through my notebook but it takes a lot longer than the wall socket.
thanks bouth of u for the fast anwsers....
When I set WiFi settings to max performance, my HTC HD will not charge at all, actually it will loose charge during night, display is off, just WiFi, GSM and GPS is active, connected to provided wall charger. Back side of phone is really hot, I measured over 54°C
Problems charging.
guys(and lady's) Just got my HD. been running it for some time to drain the battery, while on my laptop the battery starts charging. I wanted to drain the battery to give it a good charge afterwords so I turnd off the option of charging while unit is active( in batt. menu) but When I got to 5% batt.cap. an tried to charge the unit (batt. option enabled again) it doesn't charge. now my batt. is empty and can't get in the phone. while on power my battery charging led gives a couple of seconds of charge indication then it turns off.
Any suggestions or is my battery dead. (charging unit is oke, and when on power the HD does give sufficient power to the battery (measured with mulitmeter) thx guys edit - Als when on power green and amber lights blink.
Could that be that your battery is too hot ? There is some safety protection that prevent the batyery to charge when it is over a temperature level.
battery not charging properly
My touch hd not charge the battery more then 50% i change the battery but same as before.
any suggestion

Best regards
Not sure what's going on there, but try draining the battery to almost empty each time and then turn your phone off before charging it. Do this a few times and see if it helps. Mine took about a month beforeit came good.
Dear samlives
Thanks for helping
I will try it

Long Battery charging time and potential memory effect

hi,
I have the problem, that if I charge the battery from near empty state, that it requires 4-5 hours to charge with the ac adapter and if i charge it via usb it needs 910 hours. The issue is, I am not at the same place the whole time,
so sometimes I need it to unplugged, before the battery is full, so this may quicken a potential memory effect. How do you handle the battery charging?
do you charge it before it gets empty or do you unplug before its full?
Did you find a way to charge it faster?
cheers Avalun

Always charge your device switched off if possible. This makes the charging time shorter and helps the battery to "calibrate".
If phone on, make sure screen is off. Also helps.
Your phone will always take longer to charge while synced through USB.
Try and let the phone completely drain before charging it. This should increase battery length.
hi,
I usually plug it on when the message of critical battery level appears, the problem if I switch the device off is, that no one can call me during this time.
How long does your HD need to charge from near empty to full?

To fully charge from empty it normally takes a couple hours.
Generally I always charge my phone at night and have it sync'd via USB during the day so it rarely gets below 75%
There has been previous threads regarding battery strength, charging etc.
Try typing battery into search this forum at top of page.
Hope this helps
hi,
thanks for the answer I already read many other battery threads here, they are all about battery draining, not charging time.
So I thought I just ask, what other peoples have to say about this.
As I see the charing time is normal so thanks for the answer.

Battery dead ? red led blinking after charger plugin

Hello,
I have problem,
My MDA was shuting down about 40 / 50 % of power left !.
So i'm so stupid to get idea " help discharge battery manual to 0 % ".
I get light bulb, connect wires and wait about 15 minutes until light went down.
When light goes down, fast connect pda to charger (i don't want to destroy battery Li don't want to be discharged for long time).
But, it don't want to charge it... it's blinking red led about 30 minutes, and wont power on...
Grrrr
I'm so stupid to kill this battery ?
Do you have any idea ?
regards

1.- Buy another battery
2.- READ here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=UniversalSmallBattery and here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=UniversalBatteryIssue
Good luck,
it appears that your battery can no longer hold enough power (ampacity) to sustain the needs of the unit, the reason why it shuts down although the power level shows that 40% or more was remaining. in short, it is no longer in its optimum state.
i made such conclusion as this was confirmed when you said that you drained it manually but your charger can no longer drive it back to normal charging state (just red led blinking). this happens when one of the cells of your battery, if not all, is in near open state and the current (A-amperes) can no longer normally pass through it due to large resistance (ohms), hence, not charging at all.
if you want to revive the battery, nonetheless, i would suggest to intermittently charge it manually using a more powerful charger, that is, the same voltage (V) but more power (VA-VoltAmpere) or ampere rating (take note, i strongly advise not to do the charging conventionally through the unit, it would certainly destroy the power circuit or the unit itself) until such time that it can be charged by the usual wall charger. Likewise, extra caution must be taken since prolonged charging using a more powerful charger may lead to battery explosion, thou i'm bit sure its not in such magnitude to kill . just joking..
seriously, even assuming you can drive it back, your battery will be most likely in the same state as it was before although there were rare occasions that boost-charging may revive the cells and will thereafter perform normally (fingers crossed), otherwise, sad to say you have to replace the battery with a new one to have a working uni once more hope this would help, regards..
Hi,
Thank you for reply.

I press power, and it's started ;>
I charged to 100 %, then discharge and charge again.
Now it's shuting down on 20 % !!
Previously it's going down about 50 %/ 60 %.

that calls for celebration.. cheers :
Actually we should never ever discharge lithium battery unless you have voltage meters and know what you are doing, if A (that is one with ONE Cell) lithium battery's voltage gets lower than 3.6V it already started to damage the chemical make up of the battery and cases the battery's size to reduce greatly
And fast charging actually reduces the battery life, because the fast charging generate heat, and the heat will create gas inside the sealed battery and causes the battery to expend, and it changes the pressure of the chemical make up inside the battery and will greatly reduces the current and size of the battery... that is why sometimes you can see the lithium battery actually expend when you View it from the side....
I had maybe over 100 lithium battery from all the phones, and the electronic powered helicopter I have.... so I would say I know it pretty well

Battery first charge

hi
what the recommended method to charge the new battery?
1)charge few hrs till full and drain till 0% and charge again?
2)charge >10hrs?
I used to have N6288, it will auto stop charging when full.
Therefore i tend to charge my hp before i sleep and wake up in the morning to off the charger. So which is like charging for >10hrs.
Since i do not own htc before, so i'm not sure about how they charge.
lets say if battery full till 100%, will it auto stop charging?
i only afraid with my charging pattern (charging while sleeping) will make htc batt spoilt.
any advices?
thx alot

Of course it will stop. Every battery will stop charging when it will be full otherwise it would burn or explode.

i see..thx
so how long u charge the 1st time?
Before when I bough Tytn II, I charge it over 10 hours and that works well (3~4 days). Recently I bought HTC Touch Cruise09 and I only charge it for 3~5 hours (because the LED turns its color and I just remove the charger). I will see how this battery works.
How to charge a new battery... the solution. ;-)
Hi,
As erzketis says, you have an internal tools wihc switch of your charge.
I'm an electronical technician...
As the charger is a 1Aand the battery is a 1.1 Ah.
In two hour maximum it should be OK.
For me, I went to the sport and 3 hours after, it was OK.
What we usually forget to says is 2 things:
- After the first charge try to use at maximum your battery, let put it close himself (memory effect even if we says taht Lithium has a minus effct, it's a bull****). Try to reperform the same thing 5 times before going on the second tab...
- Avoid to charge you phone when it's not necessary (desactive auto charge when connected on USB). I'll says, wait till 10~0% to charge it. I know it's not prctical, but you'll have a better battery life.
I hope it will help you.

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Honor Play can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Battery Backup is good / Charging is fast too.
In the battery section, Honor managed to put a 3750 mAh battery and believe me, it is enough for the device being in the price range along with providing so much of features. Its battery could easily provide a day of backup with particularly my type of regular usage (Some chit chats here and there, Two/Three hours of music playback via headphone, some camera things, regular calling and obviously games for an hour or two.
Now about charging speed of Honor play, it is very good. it can fully charge within 80-100 minutes.
~Happy to Help
To charge from 0 to 100 it takes 1 hour and 40 mins.
Battery backup is damn GOOD and charging is quick too.
I normally charge only upto 80% [i use charging alarm] and it lasts for a day+ . Discharge rate is 2%/hr if left alone with Data ON - Wifi ON.
Problem is,The company is not taking care of the accessories department. I need to buy additional charger but it's out of stock for so many days .... The charging speed in other fast chargers is good but not as good as the original charger.
Few things :
1, my play never reach 0%. It switches off at 2%.
2, I use Sony charger (from my XZ1) and from 2% to 100% is charged in 77 minutes.
3, the USB cable is also from the XZ1.
Strange for me is that I used Samsung charger (S8) and despite having stronger output(compared to Sony) it took me to fully charged the phone 118 minutes.
issue fix

hi,
1. you are right it shutdown in 2%. it is because to protect battey health. most most of the phones out there will not show this % for eg; if you try to restart those phone after 0% you can see still the phone vibrates or shows battery symbol it is because it have some battery charge to protect battery , however this phone shows the 2%. .
2 and 3 . every cargers wont work for every phone(s8 however) but some of them work(xz1 however) it is because it is not capable with that phone dont check voltage power for that ... (to check ). use original charger (recomended) because it saves battey health and phone from heat and over voltage(if your phone failes over voltage protection) .

Quick Charge not working
Hi,
My COR-L29 doesn't quick charge any more. I know it's not my charger as I've tested it on another phone. I've just installed a new system update, but the problem persists. I've hit optimise in the phone manager app.
Any help would be appreciated.
It takes under 2 hours to charge from 0% to 10%

Take care of your system version, some old versions are quick charge
I don't understand your reply. The current version is quick-charge also.
I fixed it, the USB sub-board was faulty.

Change the type-C cable. It is possibly the cause of the problem. I have changed mine in such a situation and the charging is fast as it is supposed to be.
EDIT: I have seen that you have found a solution.
