Hey guys hopefully you can help. I recently rooted my s4 (att) and didn't like some of the features and tried unrooting it. (I have MK2). It took me a while before I realized from what I read I couldn't go back to earlier versions and update to 100% bone stock like out of the box. Problem I'm having is I think I got rid of root but I'm trying to fix the device status from custom back to official and I have no clue what to do I'm a little ocd and don't like the custom logo on bootup. I'd appreciate any help and have been stressed out and frustrated all day if its possible I'll do whatever it takes to fix it
thanks in advance

I've been trying to do this for quite some time, it doesn't look like there is any was to do it on MK2. Once you have the custom splash screen your stuck with it, short or rooting and installing WanamXposed, which does not good if your looking to unroot and return to full stock. The reason for this is Samsung has not released/leaked the Odin files for MK2, as far as I understand.
What features of root don't you like? You get to change anything about the phone and even get to delete system apps?

Hi there.
I have rooted my Galaxy S2 and have decided I want to unroot it and remove Superuser and ClockworkMod and everything that I gained when I rooted it. I have tried superoneclick, flashing the default kernel onto the phone and I dont know how to remove superuser.
I would like to restore the phone to factory settings, and I'm scared and dont know what to do.
Please help me I will be eternally greatful.
Benjamin.
flashing stock kernel should have done it download the corresponding stock rom from samfirmware (follow instructions closely) and then should have to correct stock, unrooted software on your s2 just make sure 100% its for the correct region, why do you want to flash back can i ask? cant see any benefit other than you warrenty
Flash one stock rom or flash only a kernel the stock rom
please make it simple for me.
Isn't Superuser just an application you can uninstall if you just don't want it anymore? And SuperOneClick has an option to unroot the phone again (although I have never done that because I never needed it but I suppose it works if you just click on the big button for it).

As far as I'm aware you have to flash a stock rom. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Also flashing stock kernel will not remove root.
Stock roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Or here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
Flashing stock kernel won't remove susperuser.. Flashing whole ROM does.. One way of removinf the triangle in boot up is Flash CF-Root then flash stock kernel then through CWM manager flash the zimage of CF-Root.. As you can see when CF-Root was flashed over with stock kernel superuser and cwm manager still remains.. So better off flashing whole firmware rather than just stock kernel..

I'm mean I don't know what you are scared of, may be you are new to rooting and feel something is going to happen to the phone.
Just make sure you know what you are flashing, read change logs, flash from trusted sites like xda, verify md5 sum, don't simply flash anything you find on the net.
If you are still not comfortable, download what ever stock firmware version you want, flash thru Odin and you will be good.

Use Odin to flash it.

Hi Benjamin. Don't be scared. It's quite easy really. Follow the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278.
Download the firmware nearest to your original firmware. Read the thread in the link above carefully and you'll be able to restore it to a factory state.

Your best bet is to start over by flashing the stock MF3 files using ODIN. From there, re-root your phone, reinstall SafeStrap, and try again. You most likely flashed a non-TW based ROM... remember only TW roms work with SS right now.
If you have any other questions, I'll try to explain it in more detail.

First off, download ODIN 1.85 it seems to be the one that most people have the best luck with.
Grab the MF3 TAR files
Extract the MF3 files to a folder, say on your desktop. ie. MF3
Open ODIN and refer to this picture...

For more information about how to use ODIN you can refer to here, and here.
I've personally never had to use it, so my steps are only from general observation. You might want to double check yourself. So if anyone has has any other info to help him feel free to post.

@DevilDog512 I stand corrected. What did you have to do to get that working?
Safestrap 3.70 in the android development section. Have only flashed this rom so far but have 0 issues. There's a kernelmodules.zip in that thread too that you flash just like you've been doing on 3.65. Can't adjust the system partition size but I don't use more than rom slot 1 anyway so no big deal to me. I'm sure it'll be fixed when it becomes official. Maybe today or tomorrow, but it's damn close to being ready.

You flash a kernel through recovery (not stock recovery) either cwm or safestrap.

Read up on the forums or you'll be using Odin all right. I would not flash any 4.3 roms if you don't know what you're doing. Use Xposed with wanam till safe strap can be perfected.

I just used Odin today. I'm on mk2 but I installed safestrap 3.70 and had darthstalker but decided I didn't really like it much.. Installed the modules and went back to stock ROM but it felt like my 4g download speeds were slow less than 1mb. So I odin the mf3 recovery files than side loaded back to mk2 because I tried factory resetting and 4g wasn't working that good.

I used the update.zip in Stock recovery to go from mf3 to mk2. Not sure how that'll work out if i screw something up. I have the mf3 stock tar files and hash has said he has mk2 tars. I figure there's enough out there to get me back up. I tried flashing every ge rom i could find to no avail. Apparently it's pretty hit or miss right now. I read that they may have found a way to flash some custom kernels on mf3. The same day i upgrade. Hopefully they can get that sorted out and we can pretend like we own our $500 phones.

Not at all, not at all, it was all you. I'm fumbling in bumbling around here trying not to Bork my phone. You da man!
Ive done lots of fumbiling lol but thanks again man. Now that i have root ill see if i can get some recovery files made for this phone unbrick.img's and the like so when people screw up these phones flashing roms they have a way out, but itll be this weekend i got alota hours to put in at work
I cannot wait to flash different roms to this phone. but I WILLwait until I see some unbrick imgs. it's just too expensive of a phone to Bork.
Ive extracted the system and boot partition with adb im pretty sure that someone can make a flashable firmware zip out of them with the andriod kitchen ill upload them when i get a chance i dont have wifi right now and the system file is pretty large.
Ill screw with cooking em myself aswell but its gonna be awhile i dont even have linux install, ill probly set up a virtual os.
Careful on messing up this phone to the point where it cannot be revived with out flashing via odin. There is currently no official firmware files on www.sammobile.com and www.samsung-updates.com.
Can we just take a backup from rom manager and turn it into a file that can be installed via odin?

Also, anyone know if the miui7 available for the s5 on the miui official site will work on our phones?

The stock firmware can be extracted from this phone and set up as a flashable odin file, im working on it sort of.....as in i dont really know what im doing but i like to dabble. Ill post the needed files tonight just in case someone good at this wants to take a whack @ it. Im finding it hard to get any time but i do have android kitchen up and running.
Ill edit this post with the file links
Boot image:

System image:

these were pulled with adb
Just a little update for u guys ive done alot of digging and cant find/or make stock firmware for this device so if you brick and cant get into recovery your screwed.
That being said if you make a full backup with twrp you should be ok to flash roms for the verizon s5 but you would still be taking a moderate risk something could allways go wrong. And youd be ok if you could still get into your recovery and use your backups.
Now with that out of the way i know theres people out there that can unbrick these phones with the right tools and files if anyone with the ability wants the files needed (if i havnt provided the right ones all ready) please pm me and ill give any stock files u need.
That goes for anyone else 2 i have twrp backups of system, modem, ect. If you need files to restore your phone. I also have the PIT file
Ill keep tinkering because its fun and ill post any success or failures here in the future
I'm hopeful for success for you. Waiting with fingers crossed!
